If you have a google or android phone, I'd suggest grabbing "Photo Editor" from dev.macgyver. Has basic photo editing features, including what is essentially an MSPaint feature (though it takes some time to get used to, and there are no layers in the drawing mode. Only in text and images.)
Yes, there used to be some forum adventure/forum game-type things where the OP would set up the thread, have people make their own characters, and have the players explore around/get in fights/build, etc.
There also used to be Hunger Games threads, where the OP would use the Hunger Games simulator site and make regular posts about what Spam Members and fictional characters were up to while trying to kill eachother.
