I'm an Introvert, FF9 is much better because everyone is fully realized, not just plot tools. They are actual people.
Like, never in FF8 did I feel anyone was important, and that was my biggest issue.
In FF8. Even Laguna was a better character. He was just a sub character 90% of it, and his sections were far more interesting.
Squall is just like "Fuck responsibility. I just want to mope away from everyone. But... I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!" and that is all he boils down to unfortunately.
I love FF9's protagonist because he is just about doing what is right. Yeah, he has self doubt at the end of act 3, but after what you discover. (Not saying what. I'll just say we are people, not products.) You feel even closer than ever.

Maker forbid I end up with people nagging me to do things... Cassius shuttered at the thought of being lumped with a large group of people. He was claustrophobic as is, but the idea of being stuck in the middle bothered him most...

Besides, I rather be in good standing with you rather then have you go 'oh maker... this child is the most useless, he drags me around and does not pull his own weight... I acctully want to help you in any way I can seeing as you're just as willing. Consider it a pact." Cassius smiled a bit at him, even if shyly.
My face frigging hurts...
He made his way to the beach where he'd sit under shade to wait. Helios was scanning the environment just around Cassius.

@MidnightRose Demons technically can exist in any era. So if you see them in the present, it gives you an idea where they may migrate.
