<Snipped quote by The Spectre> I realized when I first posted an attempt at a map I gave the UK the RoI when they would have lost that large chunk of Ireland around 1916.
Appearance: Enda is an unexceptional, typical street cleaner - which is exactly how he likes it. People don't pay attention to the lowly street cleaners, who despite their essential work for the city, are ignored or even looked down upon. Enda is no different - his musty uniform, filthy from years of work and sleeping drunk in the gutter, allows him to blend into the crowd, making him indistinguishable from the thousands of street cleaners that work across the city. He stands at a modest six feet but years of living on the edge of starvation have not been kind - his clothes cling to his thin frame, giving him the look of a shabby scarecrow. He wears typically wears a battered baseball cap or beanie, which covers his growing bald spot and lank, grey hair.
Magic/powers: The ability to fire bolts of pure energy from the end of his broom or his hands. The blowback from the broom can be dangerous and firing from his hands leaves large welts or burns.
Equipment: A large, unassuming broom that is common among the city street cleaners.
Skills: Can hide in plain sight, a fantastic singer and understands certain, foreign dialects spoken in the cities lower quarters.
Weaknesses: Illiterate, of an advanced age and something of a drinking problem.
History: Enda had an unremarkable childhood, so much so that he struggles to remember most of it. He was born into a working class family in a poorer area of Darish but due to the hard work and dilegence of his parents, he and his five siblings never went hungry. As was common among lower class families at the time, Enda never went to school and thus, never learned to read and write anything beyond his own name. Like his father, Enda found work in street maintenance after a string of failed apprenticeships. For a while, life for the young man seemed good - he had a small house, met a nice girl and was preparing to start a family.
But, it seemed, the Binder had other plans.
He first appeared in Endas dreams. A dream about his family would quickly turn into a nightmare upon the arrival of a being taking the appearance of an aristocratic man. The being took an avid interest in the lowly street cleaner but it was years before Enda began meeting it on his daily round. Its appearance was usually preceded by a tingling sense in his neck and lower back. It never interacted with Enda - it only stood in the shadows, watching him quietly. Enda, who was at first terrified of the being, soon learned to ignore it. Yet it continued to observe, for years after.
And slowly, his life disintegrate.
His wife and young child became ill with scarlet fever, his house became infested with rats and Enda himself was taken over by feelings of depression. It seemed all of these issues began due to the being that was always following Enda, watching him while he slept and invading his dreams. After the death of his wife and young child, Enda burnt his house to the ground in a fit of grief-filled madness. While the ashes floated around him and tears streamed down his face, the being finally spoke.
"You are Bound".
The being, known only as the Binder, finally spoke and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. When they touched, Enda was immediately filled with the best feelings, the best experience, the best high of his life. It was only brief but left him wanting more. Under the guidance of the Binder, Enda assumed his new duty as its servant. Using its ethereal powers, the Binder had bound Enda to its bidding and gave him dangerous powers. He was to kill the Binders enemies. Priests, rapists, saints and thieves all saw their lives gone in a flash of light, just because Enda was commanded to kill them. In return, the Binder continued to feed Enda its addicting power.
For thirty years, Enda has done as the Binder commands. The reinvigorating power of the Binder is his addiction, his reason to continue living. But it has come at a great cost. He can no longer remember the faces of his wife and child, his long-term memory is in tatters and the addicting, brief moments granted upon him by the Binder are becoming few and far between.
Enda can go months without contact with the Binder and during these moments of respite, his sanity slowly begins to slip and the feelings of grief he felt on the day of the death of his family return. But the Binder always returns with commands.
It has been months since Enda's last contact with the dark being and for the first time, doubts have begun to surface. Why did the Binder choose him? What was its purpose? Why did it demand indiscriminate murders of mortals, both good and bad?
This is pretty good, I forgot to mention though that there is often some sort of mark or scar that represents the contract. For example, a cursed eye or tattoo like sigil on the skin. Though this is optional.
Otherwise, great char sheet, accepted.
Perfect, I can say his hands are scarred with a sigil.
