The Firefly Maiden

Deep brown eyes raised up to the man, the girl hesitantly getting on to her feet to face him. The tanuki blinked up at the stranger as well, dressed peculiarly in his actually quite cute shrine messenger's outfit. Juju still stayed in her arms as Hotaru hugged him tight to her chest, looking even more uncomfortable now. Social interaction... Her archnemesis.

"Oh... No, I'm fine." Hotaru murmured shyly, lowering her gaze so as not to make eye contact.

The raccoon sighed, leaping from his Lady's arms and saluting the priest with what could only be classified as a smile. "I apologize for my Lady, she's no good when it comes to conversations. She did live in a shrine her whole life, so you can't really blame her!"

Hotaru hung her head again in embarrassment, whining quietly under her voice. "Who's side are you on, here?" The brunette glanced back up again as the tanuki continued to speak, tucking his paws behind his back formally.

"My name is Juju, I am the shrine messenger of the largest shrine here. This is my Lady, the shrine maiden herself, Kaminari Hotaru!" Juju paused to hold his paw out to Hotaru, she blushing lightly and quickly looking away again, silently cursing her overly friendly shikigami. "Speaking of lost, you seem new around here. Do you need help finding where you're going? I'm sure we can be of some assistance!"

Hotaru scanned her eyes over the male, quietly inquiring. "Your outfit... Are you, a modern priest?" Her voice was a near whisper due to her shy personality, seeming wary still of the man who shared nearly the same job as her, people blessed by the heavens to help others.

Name: Sabine Moreau

Alias/Nickname: Lady Luck

Age: 32

Personality: Sabine is a narcissist to the highest degree. She only cares about herself and her own vanity, but not so much to the point that she won't get into a good brawl if she's pissed off. Sabine acts very non-chalant about most everything, and prefers to keep to herself. If encountered, she is very flirtatious, no matter it be man or woman. Be careful, though. Sabine is a high class pick-pocket as well as a skilled manipulator. If you don't keep an eye on her, something of value on you will undoubtably go missing. As expected from her name, she loves to take gambles, especially playing casino-type games. However, Sabine would do anything to win, even a slight of hand will reap your money in an instant, even if you were the one who was supposed to win.

Bio: Sabine was born into a family of gypsies, the ones at home being all manipulating women, including her aunt, mother, and grandmother. When Sabine was ten, the three were caught and arrested for prostitution, in which Sabine just narrowly escaped being handcuffed. She had lived as a street rat for six years, until a casino took her in because of her pretty face. Sabine worked there for three years when the place was busted for serving alcohol to minors. One of these minors being Sabine herself. Sabine went in and out of jail for multiple reasons, including taking illegal winnings in casinos, prostitution, and other money-related schemes. When she turned 25, Sabine committed murder. She stabbed her new boss and then-husband, the only man she ever loved, 13 times in the chest and twice in the throat because she had just found out he had cheated on her multiple times. She was tossed in with the other inmates in the blink of an eye, and has been in the world prison ever since.

@dblade26 well, whatever you want to do. Hotaru is just sitting on the sidewalk talking to her tanuki, Juju, so she's totally open for whatever.

The hazel eyes lit up in delight as the teen attacked Zevrox with a hug. "Yay! I get to go with you, hehe!" Asael nuzzled the man's side in joy before finally releasing him to walk along beside him, each step almost a skip. It was pretty easy to make them happy, wasn't it...?

Having looked over you character a couple of times I don't really see anything similar to a kind of weakness.

Yeah, honestly I couldn't find anything much that's a weakness to a bakeneko in their lore. I was thinking water was his weakness, since he's both technically feline and has an affinity to fire, but I wasn't sure?

The sound of soft footsteps hitting the pavement could be heard as Hotaru passed by, carrying a few grocery bags loosely around her fingers, the skirt of her yellow summer dress fluttering about her pale thighs. It wasn't her choice of outfit. Inugami had picked it out for her, and even though she would have preferred something less flashy, it was better than Nure's idea of a black leather skirt and corset. Poor Nure had a bump on his head for weeks after Inugami socked him. The memory made the neutral expression of the girl crack ever so slightly into a grin.

Hotaru hadn't been the maiden of the shrine for very long, but with her familiars around her, it felt like even less time had passed. It was rowdy and loud, and always made her happy to be in the shrine with everyone. They were really the best friends, the best family, anyone could have.

The girl stopped in her tracks, her deep brown eyes widening. Something felt off. There was an unfamiliar presence in the Imaginary District, something new and dark. It sent shivers down the onmyoji's spine. Hotaru looked about anxiously, taking a firm grasp of her flute which hung in its case on her belt.

"Lady Hotaru!"

Hotaru jolted, turning to see a little raccoon float down on a leaf in front of her. Juju.
The giant leaf disappeared with a puff of smoke, the tanuki's eyes wide with fear. "Lady- ha, Hotaru! Ha, the, shrine..."

The shrine maiden dropped to her knees to comfort the panting tanuki, petting his head with worry. "The shrine? What's wrong with it? Was it attacked?"

"Worse!" Juju hugged the girl. "Master Nure... He spilled hot tea on Master Inugami! On purpose because Master Inugami said he was a NEET! They're destroying the shrine from the inside out!"

Hotaru groaned, her face darkening with exhaustion as she hung her head in defeat. "Those two... "
