Is it worth mentioning that apparently 4 people have chosen traitor, but only 3 are on the foreign knight list?
Throwing my name in the metaphorical hat for ruler, and working on my character.
More people? Rosa doubted the concept of "The more, the merrier" was ever intended to apply to this situation, but she wasn't going to complain. She had been quite morbid in her conversations so far, but with these reinforcements, she certainly thought they stood a chance. Best not to say that out loud, though. As she had said, confidence kills.

She worried somewhat about the orc. He seemed frail, particularly so considering his species, and his reliance on that walking stick would not be advantageous, either. Rosa assumed he had more use than was visibly noticeable, or he wouldn't have come on a journey like this.

The human, alternatively, seemed the opposite. Like Voph, Fionn appeared well-equipped and capable, but also had the care to at least learn what he was hunting. Rosa hoped he would live up to his appearance.

On the subject of Voph, Rosa wondered if she'd been too harsh with him. She was used to working alone, and had undertaken this journey under the expectation of having help. Herself, she could rely upon to make intelligent, careful decisions, and she'd be the only one who'd suffer if she failed to. With people assisting her, she'd have to rely on them and them on her. Any mistake could be amplified painfully.

As for Nakreyya, the elf, she was like a halfway point between the other two newcomers. Armoured, yet the armour was sculpted and artful in its design. Missing an eye, yet every other feature implied a lifetime of safety and luxury. Rosa decided to hope for the best with this woman.

Traveller. An strange name, unlikely to be his real one. An alias, maybe? Whatever the case, he seemed useful enough. His armour was made of something exotic, and presumably better than the standard fare, or he wouldn't use it. Rosa was definitely satisfied with what he appeared to be, and, as with Fionn, she just hoped he would live up to this.

The assembled group eventually arrived at the Pillar. It was certainly impressive, in a bleak way. A single, unnatural, crow-like creature watched them as they approached. Rosa matched its horrid gaze. She refused to be intimidated by a bird, even one like that. She couldn't help thinking of the old rhyme, the one about magpies. One for sorrow. And so on.

Rosa had both of her guns with her. She wouldn't normally bring them to Ecetopia, but she considered Karnarouri to be good enough reason. She kept her shotgun drawn on the approach to the Pillar. She had intended to blast anything not quite dead that might be around, but, thankfully, there was nothing.

"I assume that digging won't work. Karnarouri has an ego, that much is clear from the monolith alone. So, of all the excavations here, the entrance to his tomb is going to be in the middle somewhere, it might even be the monolith. The difficulty would be in opening it."
@Zahrale Since the original knights were all male, and there were almost no female fighters throughout medieval Europe, will female characters be allowed for the roleplay?
Also interested. This looks good.

(My first roleplay on this site had a vaguely similar concept, and unfortunately it ended prematurely, so I'm very glad I found this.)
When Traveller spoke, Rosa simply nodded and proceeded with him. When Voph spoke, on the other hand, she had to stop herself from laughing.

"You didn't expect to meet others... so you thought you could defeat Karnarouri? Alone? I'll admit, I haven't seen you in a fight, but I really doubt that. Hell, I don't know if the three of us together could beat him. I'll grant you this much, usually I wouldn't be quite so friendly, but I know I'd rather do that than die.

"And, apparently, I'm about to get another opportunity."

It was then that Rosa heard and subsequently saw Fionn approaching. Someone else come to deal with the lich, judging from both what he said and his equipment.

"A little of both," Rosa replied. "You're here for him as well?"
In response to Traveller, Rosa said "Actually, I'd suggest having that talk now. I don't want to waste time, not with what we're up against. Unless either of you particularly want to stall any longer, I think we should get moving as soon as possible." This was entirely true. The more time spent not putting Karnorouri down, Rosa thought, the more time he had to prepare himself and to endanger other people.

So this wasn't Voph's first time on a mission of this calibre? Good, Rosa thought. They could certainly use the experience. Still, even if Voph displayed a level of intelligence in his analysis of the enemy, he wouldn't have been able to do so if Rosa hadn't explained what was happening to him. She wasn't eager to die just because of his carelessness.

"You make it sound so easy, Voph. It's probably safest if you don't fool yourself; there is a very good chance that this is more than we can handle. Pretending it will be easy will only get you, and perhaps subsequently the rest of us, killed."
"They have supplies," Rosa began, finishing her approach maybe ten feet from the nearest of the other two. "But whether they have any to spare, I don't know, and they're not exactly generous; they might decide not to give you anything even if they can. I don't blame them, not with what it's like out here, but that could be an issue for you."

Another issue apparently being that Voph didn't know what he was hunting. Virtuous in principle, stupid in practice. Rzail's a big enough place to get lost in when you know where you're headed, let alone when you don't. Once you've also realised you don't know what you're up against, it really starts looking like a bad idea.

"You don't know? I'd have expected someone dressed like that to have done their research, but apparently not. Here's the short version: a very long time ago, a very dangerous person did some very bad things and killed a lot of people. Most of the world worked together to stop him and eventually succeeded. Good guys win, everyone's happy, hypothetically speaking, until now. There's reason to believe this person, Karnarouri, is on his way back, and I for one would not appreciate that."

Rosa was almost done speaking when she realised she'd forgotten something. "Rosa Stoneheart," she said, performing a mock bow "at your service."
Rosa was relieved that the others didn't want battle, or at least that they said they didn't. One had a gun (which he wouldn't take his hand off, which was hardly a good sign), and while Rosa had hers, the lack of cover in the desert was not something she wanted in a fight. Nor could she expect to close the distance between them before being hit multiple times, though she expected she'd win in melee. But that was besides the point. The point being that agression would be stupid and possibly suicide.

"I'm glad," Rosa said, in reply to the claims of peaceful intentions. The one with the gun had referred to the other as a 'new friend' - so they had just met. If they were bandits, they were simultaneously very rich and very disorganised, so they probably weren't bandits. Rosa decided to test her other theory instead. "Though, I can't help wondering: why would two heavily armoured men be out here in the desert, risking death from starvation, thirst, or, hell, even being throttled in their sleep? They wouldn't be looking for a certain pillar, would they?"
