Rai looked on in terror, unable to move as Ferid chopped off Aya's arm. Usually a sight such as this would have sent Rai running and crying in the opposite direction, but this time something was different. He could feel the terror melt away, only to be replaced by rage and anger. Rai was about to charge Ferid directly when suddenly, Ferid dropped dead from a shot to the head. Rai looked over and saw Aya who was dying on the ground, just as fast as his rage had appeared it was quickly replaced by sorrow and tears.

He ran to Aya, who was now missing both an arm and a leg, she was begging them to run. Rai would run and escape this horrible place, but first there was something he had to do. Rai knelt down, grabbed Aya and hugged her as tight as he could before barely managing to say "Th-thank you... for everything... A-aya-sama" through many tears. Rai didn't want to let go of her, if he did he'd never see Aya again. Rai did let go however, he needed to make sure Aya's death had some meaning, all this death would be pointless if no one got away. Rai stood up and looked to the others, tears in his eyes and running down his face.

Rai's previous calm attitude disappeared immediately upon seeing Ferid at the other end of the room, how did Ferid know that everyone would be here right now? Before Rai got a chance to speak, Ferid had grabbed one of the kids and had sunk his fangs into them! Rai immediately jumped back a step, his facial expression changed to one of fear. He would look to the rest of the group and in a panicked voice ask "Wh-what are we supposed to do now?"

When Aya started to lead the others out the back door, Rai decided to stick near the middle of the group, that way he could silence anyone who was making too much noise. In truth, Rai knew little of what was going on, all he knew was that Aya had to get something from Ferid's house for some kind of plan. Rai would try to keep a calm and relaxed expression as if he knew exactly what was going on for the others sake, he couldn't let any of the really young ones think that the situation was not under control.

Rai was still curious about the battle that had just occurred outside so he ran over to the nearest window, and he was surprised to find the only thing left over was a small pool of blood, and no sign of the other two vampires. He then overheard Aya talk about leaving through the back door, so he went there and waited for the other children to join him. While he was waiting, he couldn't manage to shake the thought of their hooded defender from earlier. Why did he risk his own neck for some children who were about to get drained? There had be be some kind of reason for his intervention. "Why would he step in like that?" Rai asked himself aloud, unable to find an answer.

"Wait, they're not dead Ellie? So does that mean that we have two angry vampires waiting for us outside?" Rai asked, hoping that he was wrong. A pair of hungry and angry vampires outside of a house full of kids who made them angry didn't sound like a good combination to Rai. "There was a third one outside, the one who was wearing the hood, what happened to him?" In a way the hooded vampire had saved them, so Rai was both curious and slightly concerned.

Rai found himself stunned as he was suddenly being lead by the hand back inside by Aya, at least he didn't have to be near those vampires anymore. Once indoors, Rai breathed a deep sigh of relief before asking both Valerian and Aya "Wait, what plan? And why do we need a mallet anyway Val?"

Rai looked to Aya. "A-Aya, you're going to try to fight these guys? You're kidding right? There's three of them!" Rai said, his voice full of fear. He didn't want to run away unless he absolutely needed to, but on the other hand he didn't want to end up as a late-night snack for these vampires. He then turned to Valerian and asked "W-Well, are we going to run?"

Rai stood their in the doorway. As much as he wanted to listen to Aya's advice and run away from this whole situation, he somehow couldn't bring himself to leave Aya and Ellie out there with two vampires. Suddenly, Rai found that he was being pushed aside by... Valerian? For some reason Valerian, the orphan who distanced himself from everyone was getting involved, however Valerian soon ended up getting swatted away by a vampire. Seeing this, Rai quickly joined Aya at Valerian's side, and mustered up as much courage as possible before saying "Leave Val alone, you creeps!"
