Brian was eleven when the world went to hell. Old enough to remember how things used to be and how good life could be. Brian comes off as prickly, especially if you don't know him. He can be blunt and honest, but most of the time he doesn't necessarily mean any harm. He just doesn't always think before he speaks. Sometimes however he'll remain quiet rather than say something he might regret. The man isn't always great with his words, but he does care.

Brian cares deeply for those close to him, and would fight tooth and nail for them. He's loyal to both those people as well as those he works for. But gaining his trust takes time and effort.

Brian is also known to have a temper and to get easily frustrated. It's something he's tried to work on but without much success. He's stubborn and with that comes wanting to do things a certain way, his way.

Better Times
Before the world changed Brian lived in Forth Worth, Texas. Around a thirty minute drive from Dallas. His father was a Colonel in the US Army and was stationed at the nearby military base. Brian's mother was a realtor, they were both strict on him but only because he wasn't the best behaved child. Lee Adams was the kind of man who respected authority and expected the same of his son, he was hard on Brian but never harsh. Diane Adams was of a similar nature but with a kinder approach. The family had been lucky to stay at Forth Worth for years thanks to Lee's position, after having moved around many times in the time before. Finally they could put down some roots and Brian was able to make lasting friendships. One being Jude Miller, someone he'd be connected to for a long time.

All hell broke loose
When the natural disasters started the military tried to shelter and wait it out but everyone knows how that turns out, it fails eventually. The military base locked down and went about surviving and trying to communicate with other instillations in the country to maintain order. The soldiers and their families started learning that surviving in this new world was going to be different than before. Though the military gave it a good going, they built up quite the little society in those four years while trying to adjust to this new world and it's dangers. However an earthquake ripped through the area toppling what they had.

Aftermath
The disaster that made Forth Worth unlivable claimed the life of his Diane Adams, Brian's mother. And with their home gone Lee Adams and his son left for the nearest civilization along with other survivors, Brian was around fifteen at the time when they went to Dallas and joined with the group there. This also meant coming under the Order's rule as well.

Joining the Order
Brian's father wasted little time in joining with the group and becoming one of it's Hunters. A move that Brian would follow some years later with few other choices at his disposal. The only reason he'd known of his fathers occupation was the fact that Lee had told him ahead of time about his plans, before being sworn to secrecy. He'd wanted to follow his fathers footsteps at a young age when it came to joining the army, he just never expected this would be the path he'd end up on by doing so. His father had trained him well enough and they'd both solidified their spots in the Order's Hunters. If nothing else by working for The Order they wouldn't go hungry or be forced to leave. Surviving was what mattered.

Life of secrets
Being an enforcer was difficult at first but over time Brian steeled himself. The man never saw himself being an executioner of civilians, dragging them off to imprisonment or experimentation. All the while not being able to tell anyone, luckily he had his father for that even if they didn't speak on the subject much at all to keep things quiet. Enforcing was more than upholding the law it was keeping people in line. And eventually Brian started to believe in it.

Day to day life was typical in his early twenties, he had a boyfriend, best friend, father, and a job and he was happy to just simply be able to exist with all of that considering the alternative. Eventually his relationship ended and not too long after when he was twenty-four his best friend since childhood became something more than either of them ever expected.

Decisions and consequences
Brian had always assumed life would continue on like it had until the day he died. He was thirty one and he'd found the love of his life, been doing his job for thirteen years. But life has it's way of switching things up on you. Brian saw the name of his boyfriend on the next batch of people to be rounded up for the Order. He'd frozen at first unsure what this meant. Brian had always assumed his position as a Hunter meant his loved ones would be overlooked when it came to this. He knew full well what would happen if Jude went in there, he'd never be the same if he happened to survive. Brian made his decision then and there.

Luckily the Hunters anonymity worked for him. So when he found the opening he dispatched one of the two being sent to round up Jude while still at the Hunter facility. Hiding the body as best he could before assuming the mans identity and going with his partner. He entered the home they shared as a stranger and before his partner even started explaining why they were there to Jude, Brian raised his gun and shot the man in the head.

Showing his identity and yelling for Jude to grab essentials and that they needed to go. Of course the other man was shocked to see that he was a Hunter. After seven years together, and a lifetime of friendship before that there were few secrets between them. But this one had been necessary, or at least Brian thought so.

It helped that Brian knew the schedules of the Enforcers. Knew how to slip around undetected. He kept his cool on the outside despite his insides swirling and the two managed to get outside the walls unscathed.

Now a week later they're trying to figure out how to survive in this world, a week in and still unsure what to do. But Brian knew they couldn't go back, he was a wanted fugitive now after killing two Enforcer's and fleeing with one of the Order's planned
Specials.

A smile creased his lips at Sombra's fake reaction at being replaced by the pup, it felt better to smile with his sister rather than yell. The man inhaled then exhaled a deep breath as the pair relaxed on the bench, though his smile dissipated at her next words. Sombra had been keeping up with him? Alex ignored the squirming Arlo in his arms as he narrowed his eyes curiously. "You saw me play?" He'd asked, wondering if maybe she'd known and seen him play College Soccer on TV. Typically Alex didn't enjoy bringing up the subject, but today was full of those so why stop now. Facial expression changing into one of thought as he connected dots before tilting his head, "James comes back to check on his sister, when she's fine. But I tear my ACL, effectively ending any chance of a career in sports, then go through surgery...and you couldn't visit me in the hospital?" It was clear by his voice he was uncertain if he should be upset or not.

A part of him was hoping she didn't know, that he was jumping to conclusions. But if she'd watched his games she would have known about the injury. When he'd been in the hospital of course Myra had driven up, his mother not wanting him to deal with everything on his own. Alexander had tried to put on a brave face, and succeed for the most part, but he'd been scared. Afraid that the surgery wouldn't work, or that he wouldn't wake up. The surgery had indeed worked but Alex had never fully recovered despite the doctors telling him that everything was healed. Thus his fear had become real, that he'd lost the ability to compete at his full potential and inevitably left the team and college altogether.

Alexander watched the woman next to him as she spoke, thought things through before speaking aloud. It was becoming more and more apparent to him how much she'd changed in the last five years. The man frowning tentatively at her saying she was happy, but it being different. Admittedly he wasn't sure how to reply but next thing he knew she'd grabbed his hand and continued on. He gave her a slightly surprised look when she'd done so. Not to mention the fact she said they'd be staying, at least for a bit. The words weren't reassuring and he had no idea how he should feel about it. The mans response was to give her hand a gentle squeeze back before letting out a defeated sigh, shoulders relaxing as he sat back against the bench. "You're my twin, my sister and nothing is ever going to change that." His gaze locked in on Sombra's eyes and he gave her a soft smile, "I just want to be a part of your life again. But more than that I want you happy." His eyes glanced down towards her abdomen briefly, "Especially if..." He shrugged lightly, clearly no need to finish the sentence considering where he'd looked. And he'd rather not make her uncomfortable by continuing.

By this point the pup had grown bored of their surroundings and trotted up to the bench, raised up on his back two legs and pawing at Alexanders leg. Wanting nothing more than to be picked up. Alex shook his head before sitting forwards and reaching down with his free hand to scoop Arlo up, then sat back with the dog held in his left arm so he was laying partially on Alex's chest. "Meet your replacement, and he's a far better listener than you were." Alex mused with a light smirk looking from Sombra down to Arlo. Clearly it wasn't true considering the puppies size and age he was nowhere near five years old. "His names Arlo, mom adopted him." At the sound of his name the pup quickly looked up at the mans face to lick at his chin briefly. Alexander had to admit having Sombra next to him, it was calming, but maybe he'd just missed talking to her. The once nearly inseparable twins had spent so many years apart.
I'll get around to putting out an Alexander post soon. Sorry, didn't mean for it to take this long!
Welp, Myra beat Alex to punching James in the face.

Like mother like son I suppose, haha.

Alexander had stayed seated and still for a long period of time. Whilst he kept a part of his attention on Arlo's location, for the most part he was just left in quiet thought. Said thoughts were on his own feelings, and now having many answers to questions that had remained unanswered for years. Both Sombra and James were alive, seemingly healthy and possibly happy. It was both relieving and mildly frustrating at the same time but the silence did well for his mood, calming down a bit. Time passed until he heard someone exit the Inn, and he'd expected it to be his mother. But the voice that spoke was that of his sister and caught him momentarily off-guard. The man had assumed they'd thought he left, but clearly Sombra had known better if she'd come alone.

He stared at the ground ahead of them for a moment after the apology from his sibling while she took a seat next to him, then abruptly turned to look at her. "Tell me something...are you happy?" He asked with an uncertain tone, shifting in his seat on the bench before he continued. "You and James together, working for the FBI, living out wherever you live...are you happy?" A hand waved in the air when he'd mentioned the unknown location, though his eyes searched her face for an answer as he asked. It was stupid of him to fear the answer, but he did. "You should go back if it's what you want but..." Alexander let out a huff but gave his sister a stern look, "...don't cut us out, at least not her." It wouldn't be hard to decipher who Alex was referring to, their mother. "Between our father, you, and Uncle Damien she doesn't deserve anymore hits like that." Alex had no clue if Sombra knew of their Uncle's sudden disappearance all to similar to her own, though it had only been a year ago while Sombra's had been five years.

“..my husband left that decision up to me…”

"Husband?" A both confused and shocked look crossed Alexander's face at the knowledge. His sisters words stung, Alex had realized long ago that the two had been together. What he hadn't expected was that James had married his sister during their disappearance. It was surprisingly hurtful to realize that he would have most likely been the best man at said wedding at one time. Truly he wanted to be happy for his twin and former best friend, but there so many emotions flowing from today that it was hard to do so. It was clear the pair weren't planning to stay by the way Sombra continued talking. Though when she spoke of happiness Alex briefly wondered if she'd been unhappy before she and James took off, if that'd played a part in it.

“... Are you pregnant… ?”

And it wasn't until their mother started speaking and asking the simple question that Alexander caught on to the what she was getting at. Leave it to the officer of the family to pick up on specific wording in a conversation. It was plain instinct that Alex's eyes wandered towards Sombra's abdomen as if to seek answer there before flicking back up to see the woman's expression. It wasn't an absolute dead giveaway but it was enough, the look on his sisters face reminding him of when they were younger and she'd been caught doing something.

A painful realization hit Alexander like a truck, one he wished he hadn't thought of. That his sister was happier without them. She had a job that kept her grounded, a husband, a home elsewhere, and potentially a child on the way. Sombra was living her life, and maybe leaving the Falls was the best thing she could have done. There was a small sense of surprising pride in seeing his sister in this light, the change she'd undergone after leaving Klamath Fall's had been for the better. That she had succeeded where he had failed. And who was he to hold her back?

The man took a step backwards towards the exit of the room speaking just before he turned to leave, "You just let me know when you decide if I'm going to be a part of my nephew or nieces life, all right?" The words came out harsher than he'd initially intended, but he'd reached a limit and needed air. As he made for the exit of the room he mumbled something about work as some sort of excuse though it had been a lie. Alexander had called the shop on his way to the Inn and asked for the day off, just in case. Though he was considering going in anyways just to have something to keep his mind focused on.

Once in the hallway he spotted he'd spotted Arlo, sniffing about in a corner by the stairs. "C'mon pup." He'd called, with a small pat on his leg as he passed. The small dog had raised it's head and started after him, the man scooping Arlo up before proceeding down the steps. Not setting Arlo down until they were outside the Inn, though despite everything he didn't leave and instead took a seat at the bench closest to the entrance of the building. Letting out a deep sigh as he ran a hand through his hair, eyes following Arlo to make sure he didn't stray too far though the pooch was simply sniffing the grass around the bench. Out of the many scenario's he'd played out involving Sombra and what he'd say or do when he saw her again...and Alex never thought it would go like this. He always felt too hurt by both her and James taking off that he'd never considered that it might have been what they needed. Nobody wants to accept such a thought when they are one of those left behind.

Alexander rolled his eyes in annoyance when his sister had quite literally growled, for whatever reason it just shoved the maturity level of the argument further down for him. Though at her first words that she hadn't wanted them to die he'd simply given a confused look, despite the fact that Sombra had her eyes closed. Sombra continued on saying it was for their protection that she and James had left, which didn't help the contorted confusion on his face. Still she was being distant, not giving the full answer, a reason without a full meaning behind it. Something about the fact that he finally had Sombra in a face to face and she wouldn't give him a straight answer just pushed at the mans buttons.

Reaching a hand up he rubbed harshly at his forehead, catching sight of Sombra suddenly turning towards him and giving a mighty glare. And for a moment he could have sworn he'd seen a flash of yellow in those eyes of hers, despite knowing full well they weren't normally such a color. Alexander chalked it up to some reflection as he crossed his arms over his chest whilst his sibling mentioned the feds, then tossed the badge at both his and Myra's feet. Alex didn't make a move to really look at it further or pick it up, just glaring at Sombra. It both pissed Alex of as well as hurt that her excuse was that they needed protecting from something, like somehow in some stupid train of thought they were at fault when it came to her leaving.

When they were younger Sombra had done just that, protected him, stood up for him, just simply been there. She'd made it clear that anyone who messed with her brother, messed with her. So any of those kids who'd picked on him or attempted to bully him...well, she dealt with them. Alex had no issue with admitting it to anyone, a part of him was proud to have had a twin that cared. But as years went on Alex had changed and had stopped needing her to fill that role for the most part.

So to be given this crap excuse...it took everything he had not to walk out and leave. But a part of him feared if he left he'd never see Sombra again, that fear kept his feet planted where they were. "So why now? What reason could you have to show up--" Alex's frustrated voice cut off abruptly as it clicked in his head as he glanced around the room. James wasn't here. But judging by the bags on the bed he was in Klamath Falls. And where exactly would James go without Sombra? To see his family. Why? Because Miranda had just been involved in the recent wolf incident. "Oh." Alex spoke much quieter as things started to click into place. James was checking on his sister, probably at this very moment, and they'd likely come back for that reason. Unless there was incredibly good timing involved.

Alexander shook his head as his arms unfolded, as he briefly wondered if they were even planning to stay or if this was just a visit. The thought of Miranda seeing her brother and being happy, only to have him leave again caused the man to flinch. Miranda didn't deserve that. "You aren't planning on staying, are you?" It was a rather accusing question, and despite Alex's attempt to hold back any emotion other than anger, his voice betrayed him.
