Hey, I saw your thread and it looked super interesting! I'd love to join, but, unfortunately, I just started on something that might turn out to be another big project for me.
Just thought I'd stop in and say good work! It's a neat concept and I'm kinda sad that I'd only be able to half-ass it if I did join.
@Mammon I thought you might be stalking me again! Hiiiii~ Welcome aboard. It's good to see you, again, honestly. The last project we worked together in turned out very well, despite its unfortunate end; so here's hoping you and I can collaborate again!
As a note about the earlier edit I made. My computer had to be pawned to ensure that I retain electricity and food for the remainder of the month, as well as cell service. My roomie is using an old desktop of mine, so I'll be able to commandeer it when need be; so it will in no way affect my work on this thread or my ability to post.
With that said, I'm curious about everyone's thoughts so far. Are there any pressing questions or things anyone wants to put forth? I'm certainly here to answer them.
Now that we've got an adequate number of participants, I'll get to work on the OOC! It won't be a huge change from what you see here, but it'll at least have my character posted up; once it gets made.
Thank you all for your time, your interest and wanting to work with me on this! I really appreciate it! Much love!
Edit: As a note, my character concept is going to be a girl around 16 (in her second year at East City Central High. the one who's Talent I mentioned in an earlier post) who is something of a delinquent. Not like she's going to be a badass brawler or anything, but I'm planning to make her somewhat 'street-wise'; given that she's been living alone for the last two years. I have a fair amount of her history planned out, so I just need to 'put pen to paper' after working on the OOC.
If anyone wants to work together on character relations or the like; feel free to message me here or through PM! Feel free to contact each other, as well!
As always, make sure to @ me or PM me if I'm Offline; so there's no way I can miss what ya said.
Age: We'll be starting out with a primary cast of high-shool kids. So keep it from, let's say, fourteen to eighteen.
Gender: Also pretty straightforward.
Appearance: You can use an image (illustrations preferred), or write out a couple of paragraphs about what your character looks like.
Personality: Fairly easy.
Talent: This is where things get a little rocky. Talents are innate, and manifest differently in everyone. It's rare to find two people who have exactly the same Talent; even if some of them appear similar on the surface.
Occupation: What does your character do in East City, if anything? 'Student' will be there, but list if they have a part-time job or some such.
Virtues: Despite the already-existing 'personality' section, this is intended to break it down a little further. Here I'd like three of your character's mental 'strong points' listed.
Vices: What good is a human being without any flaws? Similar to the section above, I'd like you to list three 'weaknesses' of your character's nature.
Biography: I'll only make you put about three paragraphs into this, if you choose to do it. Hati Station and East City are large enough for you to fill in some blanks and make this work.
Went ahead and did the quick skeleton thing. I'll have a character up sometime soon! If there are any questions, or anything of the sort, don't hesitate to lemme know!
Feel free to change the formatting and stuff, and add information if you'd like. We'll actually be editing these somewhere down the line, once the story gets started. ^_^
Edit: having computer troubles, but will still be around to post probably tomorrow. this shouldn't have a large impact on my activity, but I thought I'd let y'all know ^^
Edit: I'll probably be laying down for the night. So, if anyone wants to ask me a question or just hit me up to chat; shoot me a PM or mention me! G'night, everyone!
You see what I mean. Now, I suppose, since I am saying these things that you have some use for me? If I recall, and I am fairly certain I do, I did not exist until you somehow barged in here.
That's not true. You already exist as a thought. You can't un-exist, ya know. Anyway, I thought this would be a good time for us, and by us I mean you to give some insight as to what exactly the point of the Bond is.
The Bond is an Esoteric Grid formation heavily rooted in Symbology that is long lost to humanity, and justly so. It is something that is far too potent to remain in the hands of a race barely capable of comprehending the precarious nature of their very existence. This particular formation perpetuates the 'corruption' of a Fate Kernel, allowing the Bonded to bypass their inexorable expiration.
And what is a Fate Kernel?
Prodding me along into providing more exposition for your silly games. Very well, I will play along. I am powerless to do otherwise, it would seem. It is a simple concept, Crumbs, and another that you created. It seems redundant to approach me to offer these-
But what is it?
A Fate Kernel contains the major points of data for events in a Prime Entity's existence. Birth and death are the most noteworthy. Variants exist of course, but they are largely inconsequential. Most important is that the Bond removes those determined factors, making the Bonded an unpredictable agent within the existing system. The Fate Kernel its self is nearly as inconsequential as the events it contains, but its contamination or alteration is highly important. Simply because without an intact Fate Kernel, it is possible for a Prime Entity to surpass the limitations imposed on them by their mortal status.
You're heartless! How can you say those moments don't matter! Love is more powerfu-
You believe that as much as I do. Now, moving on.
Wait, wait, wait. You said something about cheating death with a broken Fate Seed, right?
Kernel. Fate Kernel. Yes, but I did not mean it in the sense of achieving immortality. Such a thing simply does not exist within any of the known realities. The Central Entity has a finite 'life-span', even if it is one that exceeds all others. Guides do not have Fate Kernels, but still have a set span allowed for their existence. Moderators do not have Fate Kernels, but will eventually be erased. Observers, such as myself, have our time arbitrated by the Administrators.
I suppose that's true. What does that have to do with the Bond, again?
It has to do with the fact that the Bonded become something outside of Corporeal Reality's rules. Assuming they survive their Proving Ground-
Pygmalion's Gallery.
That is not the name it was given.
That's what I'm calling it. Please, continue.
Assuming they survive...Pygmalion's Gallery and their Guide is successfully sacrificed, the Esoteric Grid will be automatically formed and the Prime Entities will be broken down to their base data. Their Fate Kernel. The data-seed in their Guide will be divided and given to the Prime Entities, overwriting their Fate Kernel and removing the restrictions placed on them by their status as Prime Entities. They then become Bonded.
So being 'Bonded' makes them more capable than an average human, but tools of a Moderator or Observer?
Unlike Guides, there are no Personality Restriction Protocols placed on the Bonded; though there have been attempts. Such input to a mind that remains largely that of a Prime Entity is caustic, causing an inability to absorb the information. This can lead to Delusions forming. It is up to the Bonded whether or not they follow the requests of the Moderator who handles them. There have been instances of Bonded going rogue. Usually this precipitates the involvement of entities outside of the iteration of their originally occupied reality.
However, that is all for now. I am sorry, I have business elsewhere. Please, show yourself out.
@yoshua171Thank you so much for the kind words! I've put a fair amount of thought into this setting, its systemic mechanics and this particular story within it~ It put a smile on my face that you like the ideas, so far!
Edit: I should make a note that I plan to put up a CS Skeleton tomorrow. I'll get the OOC up, after a little more interest is expressed. I think one or two more people would be perfect!
@yoshua171Went ahead and put information of Pygmalion's Gallery, Guides and Bonds for ya!
Some of this stuff won't be fully explained right off the rip, but that's because I want to show some of it in-character. If there's anything in particular you're curious about, don't hesitate to throw me a question here or via PM!
Chances are I'll be doing more 'stylized' '[blank] Expanded' bits on some of these things. >.>
@CelairaThanks for your interest! I'm glad you've got something in mind and I'm excited to see her!
Talents are pretty diverse, and I'll allow people to get creative with them. For example, one I have planned is brief access to a sub-layer of Corporeal Reality; making her capable of short range teleportation. Talents will probably develop as we go, as well, given the circumstances our characters will end up in...so I would suggest thinking of something with some 'growing-room' to it! If you want more examples or have any more questions or anything, feel free to let me know!
@yoshua171Thanks for your interest! I'll be adding some more to the Information section sometime tomorrow, or maybe later tonight! Maybe even little bits of stuff that's already happened in-universe to give a better feel for things. ^^
Bumping because I added I Don't Like You...Much. to the intro post. It's way different from what I normally do. It's a high-school romance story between someone and a Semblance. We can talk about it if you're interested~!
