Well, it was because of their ultra-powerfulness that they were able to overthrow the Anarchy System and replace it with something that was, at the time, way better: the Nobility System. They managed and sometimes micromanaged Existence with regulations and direct intervention.

And in the end it didn't work out, and someone intervened and made the universe work again, since we're standing here, alive, with gravity, and other necessary laws of science.

History really is the biggest spoiler, isn't it?
