He was getting sick of this. He would rarely let his hot-headed side emerge, if ever. This girl was beginning to push it. How could she even have the audacity to claim to know such things? It's not like some fourteen-or-whatever-year-old could deal with circumstances they couldn't understand. Still, he was going to remain calm, a pokerface. "I like books more."

It was Karina that originally got him into reading. He did it like it, he preferred the silence. The other worlds, the cheesy love stories. There was something appealing about them. He shoved his phone into his bag, "It's almost closing time."

With smooth motion, he caught her phone and lifted it up in front of his face. Flipping through her contacts, he couldn't help but take notice as to how empty they were. Was she just socially inept or just anti-social? Lowering the phone slightly, Garry silently complementing hurting the girls who tried to threaten Aria and his sister. He wasn't exactly violent and he never showed himself to be, but there was something wrong about making someone's life worse for enjoyment, even.

Making them afraid.

Cringe.

Would she prefer it if he put it in with his real name or Garry? Undoubtedly, she'd prefer his nickname. What would be the odds that she actually knew his name? Typing in his number into the phone, Garry slid it across the phone and crossed his arms, waiting for her to do the same. That's when she held his phone hostage and her words held HIM hostage. God, what was with this girl, anyway? Teenagers don't know how to react to situations that they don't un---

"I don't know what you're talking about," it was a calm response. It wasn't truthful, but anyone listening in might have had a hard time guessing otherwise, "Give me my phone back."

She actually knew how to pronounce his full name properly.

Now that was scary.

Shame. We got a few responses in at least and there seems to be a raising cat-fight between two of our waitresses. Should be interesting to watch!

Good night then.
Garry slid his phone across the table. Admittedly, it didn't have many numbers programmed in it. It had his neighbor's, parent's and of course, Karina's now vacant phone. Sooner or later, he'd had to suck it up and go visit her at the institution. Then again, today wasn't exactly the day for visiting and he was far behind on visiting hours. Maybe he'd skip school within the next three days to go and see her. . "Program yourself in..," he mumbled, shoving his book into his shoulder bag.

He was ready to throw it over his shoulder and flee. That's what his mind was telling him to do, he wasn't exactly keen of speaking to a girl who was friends with sister. Not that he disliked his sister's friends it just. . irked him. Perhaps it was the guilt that made him stay ultimately, but he remained composed, as if he wasn't trying to run away to begin with. Play it off, he supposed. ". . I'm not going anywhere. Unless you're trying to do so."

He wasn't really making excuses. He was just going to leave. But the last comment caught him off-guard. Friend? They hadn't even been speaking for more than five minutes, the girl practically knew nothing about Garry except his name, white hair and red eyes. And basically everyone knew that. It would be impressive if anyone had known his full name, but he somehow found that possibility hard to believe. How could someone care to know such trivial fact?

All he could mumble to the last comment was a standing and blunt: "What?

The reaction came simple, the usual response he gave to people who became too curious about himself and his family: "You wouldn't understand," he raised his mug again, red eyes examining the girl with mild curiosity, taking a sip of the hot chocolate. It had been nearly three months since somebody had even spoken to him -- let alone in regards to Karina.

Change of subject.

He lowered the mug once more, placing it one of the napkins. He would need to order a new cup shortly. Well, if he was going to work with this girl for the next couple of weeks, might as well get comfortable with her, right? ". . Got a cellphone?"

A cold air passed through Garry, being reminded of Karina. It was a tragedy that nobody could've prevented, not even the girl who sat in front of him who spoke as if she could. He lowered his mug of half-empty hot chocolate with a cold stance, "Aria," he spoke calmly, "It wasn't your fault." He knew the feeling: the feeling of guilt, the fact that it could've ended differently.

But that wasn't the case. He leaned over slightly, placing his hand on Aria's shoulder. In a quiet voice he continued, "There are circumstances you don't know about. She jumped herself," that was the story. Only members of the Leoniv family had heard her confession of jumping off, but it had been kept between Garry and his older sister, the only people that Karina herself, admitted to trusting. But he wasn't going to share that much. Karina was entitled to her privacy at the very least.

Feeling awkward and slightly flustered, he fell back into his seat, realizing he shouldn't have placed his hand on the girl without permission prior, ". . sorry,", he mumbled, red eyes shifting attention to the window once more.
Fight for the surprisingly well-thought Russian. I know, I surprised myself! Me, actually thinking out a character? Unheard of! Will respond to you once I get up from my nap, Aria.

Approached by one of the waitresses, Garry spoke up and took his strawberry shortcake slice from her, "That would be me," he offered to take the dish from her, subconsciously excited to enjoy the sugary treat though it did not show on his face. "Thank you," he slid money across the table to the waitress and turned to continue his conversation with Aria, before catching a shy wave from a rather petite girl from across the room.

He also knew the name of this one -- Kenzi. She hadn't spoken much out of all the times he had come here and the intensity of crimson on her face proved his point -- the girl was definitely a shy one. Well, he was too.

He returned a slight wave to the girl, though waving wasn't much of his style. He would've preferred something with the eyes -- there was always something about the eyes to him. Back to earth, not that he had ever truly left it, "My book? It's different every time," he mumbled in response to Aria's question, taking a bite of his strawberry shortcake. Sweet and well-baked, just how he liked it. "This one belongs to my younger sister.. "

Everyone knew about Karina Leoniv. Like Garry, she had the rare traits of an albino -- red eyes, white hair, no skin pigment. Unlike him, she was more outspoken and popular -- and her popularity increased the previous year. After her fall, questions circulated about her, rumors too. It happened last Spring when Karina was "pushed" from a rooftop. It was an accident.

But, Garry? No, he knew differently. But nobody asked him anymore about his sister. As she continues to recover, only Garry is allowed to visit her. But hey, these are mundane details nobody asks about. Mundane details he doesn't care to tell about. "It's about the American civil war." Okay, that wasn't a lie. It WAS about the American civil war, but moreso, a romance novel set in that time era.

Taking another sip of his hot chocolate, Garry glanced around the room again before centering his attention on Aria again, ". . do you like to read?"
