@Takashi Thanks for the review. I understand what you mean. My general thought was that all of his spells focus on him. True that he has a wider variety of spells, but even the offensive ones only work on a weapon he is holding. No throwing them out like a fireball or lightning bolt.

I will work on a backstory... eventually.

Combat Information

Swordplay: Davlamin is a very skilled swordsmen, he has training in both traditional human military forms as well as the more graceful elven forms. He makes an attempt to blend the two, while effective, is seen as a bastardization by his elven-kin.

Hand to Hand: This is certainly not Davlamins forte, but he is capable enough to know where and how to strike an opponent with his bare hands. He will sometimes mix these strikes in with his sword combinations.

Belongings

Northstar - Longsword - This sword was a gift from his mother and it's as deadly as it is beautiful. The weapon is forged of mithral and so it is extremely light and as strong as steel. The weapon holds a minor enchantment to make sure its edge never dulls and blade nevers needs polishing or cleaning.

Dirks - A long knife rests in Davlamins right boot as well as in the small of his back.

Buckler - While he doesn't use it often, Davlamin carries a steel buckler. He keeps it strapped to his right thigh and will use it should the situation demand it. While well crafted, it is mundane.

Physical

Davlamin has his elven races naturaly grace and speed, helping him to become an incredibly potent swordsmen. His strength is derived from long hours of practice with the sword, so while he is stronger than average, it is nothing out of the ordinary from a Soldier.

Magic

Davlamin is what is something of a rudimentary wizard. That is, he learns his spells by studying runes and lore, deciphering ancient books and communing with outsiders. His specialty is known as Blade Magic; it is primarily combat oriented magic with immediate and focused effects. Though, he is capable of learning more traditional wizard spells he simply prefers to spend his time doing other things.

All spells last for one hour unless stated otherwise. Only one spell may be activate on a single blade at a time, unless stated otherwise.

Frigid Blade - The users blade is coated with ice that leaves a frosty trail in its wake. Upon contact the blade freezes skin, liquids and creeps into a foes muscles, making it harder to move.

Greenflame Blade - The users blade erupts into a green flame that burns what it touches.

Swordburst - The user sweeps their blade before them leaving behind a shimmering trail in its wake. Once something makes contact with the shimmering trail it explodes outward pushing back with the same force that was applied agains it. The trail lasts only for a a couple seconds before vanishing.

Dragon Scale – Translucent green scales cover Davlamin from neck to toe, about a quarter inch away from his body providing the same protection as scale armor, but without the worry of weight or movement restriction.

Elemental Ward – This protective ward ebbs and flows like water over Davlamins skin, it provides protection against elemental based attacks. The ward can be over-powered by particularly strong and direct attacks.

Giant Strength - With this spell active Davlamins strength doubles.

Snakes Strike - With this spell active Davlamins reflexes increas dramatically, doubling the speed at which he is able to react.

Ok. So I made some changes and added some spells.
What you are suggesting can be done. But, I don't believe it belongs in the Arena anymore. Sounds like it belongs in one of the other RP sections on the board because you are switching from the competitive nature of the Arena to a collaborated story-telling structure where everything is predetermined.

I'm not saying I am for or against your idea. I just don't think it really fits with what's here.
