Ari breathed a sigh of relief as the shots from the Hellcat crippled the one about to put a few rounds through her. Truth be told, that MAS probably could've killed her. Maki had one on her six in return though, so Ari couldn't afford to spend the charge the 50s had built up on the crippled one. She sent the Astelion straight at her target and extended her blades, ready for a close in kill. The blades on her wrist were stabbed into the plating covering the cockpit, stabbing in and opening the cockpit to space with an explosive decompression, all while the blades in the lower part of the Astelion anchored her to the enemy MAS. Retracting her blades, Ari put the barrel of her arm auto-cannon right to the cockpit and fired one round, a quick Coup de Grace. She could see the pilot's face, or at least she thought she could, as she depressed the firing stud, and watched the shell burst through the cockpit, she felt an overwhelming sense of guilt coming over her. "I'm sorry...really sorry." She said to herself as she whirled around to assist Maki, watching as instead a blast from Tom speared the MAS, freeing up Ari and Maki.

The next situation she became aware of was Trapp and Alice's issue, and she looked over to find Trapp in a decaying orbit and Alice trying to recover. Maki was the first to respond, darting over and affixing a mag-lock to their TL and beginning to pull him to safety. She released a sigh of relief at this, glad that Maki had it covered. If the Astelion had been the only one around to push the bigger MAS to safety, she would've had to physically push him, possibly anchoring herself to his MAS with her melee weapons. That would be a messy solution, and could backfire explosively if things went bad in the middle of combat. The next pressing issue presented itself very shortly after when she heard Gerard and Yuu's COM traffic. It seemed they'd engaged the enemy experimental MAS, and thus far they hadn't made much headway. The Astelion was fast, possibly fast enough to keep the white MAS in its sights, but was Ari good enough?

She hesitated, but again she heard Tom's lesson in her mind "He said not to hesitate, and not to be scared...but I can't help it Tom. I'm so scared, I don't wanna die....but I don't wanna let the Lincoln die either...." She was frozen stock still at the prospect, and nearly payed the price. Her sensors suddenly pinged a warning, and she was made aware of a Mk. II shooting at her, her already depleted shields folding quickly underneath the barrage. She flipped around, halfway in a panic, and loosed her shots the moment her targetting AI had a solution. She was lucky that solution was accurate, striking solidly center of mass and sending the Mk. II flying away. This was just another painful reminder of what fear did on the battlefield, she supposed. She was lucky the shots hadn't hit anything important, but she did notice with a grimace several new armor penetrations were flashing on her screen. Consulting the same screen, she found she still had 50% hull integrity left, she was only half dead.

With a smile she definitely wasn't feeling, she keyed the COM and croaked nervously "E-Echo, M-Marauder, Williams..enroute." With these final words sealing her fate, she keyed her X-50s into boost and shot towards the field of battle, near the hull of the Lincoln. Her auto-cannon still had 50 rounds in her, not much but maybe enough if she caught a few lucky breaks. The standard operating procedure for engaging a foe that was faster than you was to try and account for that movement, using your own as much as possible to make that easier. Yuu was slow, Gerard not much better, but the Astelion was a speed demon. She may not be able to match its speed, but just maybe she could get fast enough that the speed difference would be small enough to make a shot. So, she changed course, and mumbled to herself "Probably gonna get one shot at this. That pilot is worlds past me, if I miss...." Ari shuddered and very nearly reconsidered her little plan at this, but forced herself to keep moving. She adjusted course so that she could get parallel to their battleground with the white MAS and accelerated to top speed with the X50s. She'd only have a few precious seconds to get charged and shooting, so she had to replicate her earlier stunt.

Everything was running on increased power consumption so, while with the Astelion at full steam she may've been able to skid by with dropping only non-essential systems, as it was now she had to drop almost everything. Flying parallel to the battle at her full top speed, she began acquiring a solution on the MAS, and dropped power from everything except Nav and targeting to charge the X-50s. She wasn't calm enough to hold her breath, and her ragged breathing was consuming her supply of O2 quickly, so she had to be fast. Around the time the solution was deemed ready, Ari immediately had to depress the firing stud, unleashing fast moving plasma towards the White Knight (A good name for that MAS, she figured). She was already beginning to feel light-headed by the time she was rebooting life support, and she was careening towards the edge of the battle zone pretty fast. She turned her MAS around and flipped the 50s into boost to begin rapidly losing speed. She'd be able to get back to the Lincoln fast, but she wouldn't be providing anymore help from out here, so she could only hope she'd done some good.
Lieutenant Williams reporting for combat duty! (Will try to post tomorrow_

Ale went up and paid for both of their, untouched, meals while Aura got to her feet. This made her feel a little bad since, as a Ranger, she'd been taught independence, and now she was letting someone who was just barely not a stranger pay for her food. For now, however, she convinced herself to let him feel like the big shining knight man for now, after all it couldn't hurt. Besides, he was a programmer, if she really needed to lay down the law later she could do it easily. That in mind, she made sure to put her beret back on and followed along behind him, and something finally occurred to her. He hadn't shown any reaction to her unit, so maybe he didn't realize they were an elite unit? All the better she supposed, since that would prevent any undue treatment on account of her skill at killing people. As much as she prided herself in being good at her job, she didn't quite enjoy the particulars. Thankfully, in the National Guard and as a member of the police force, she'd be definitely helping people instead of fighting in a foreign country.

These unhelpful thoughts aside, she was glad to walk outside with him, though she wasn't going to hold his hand or do anything sappy yet. This was, well, their first "date" she supposed, but still they didn't know each other well enough to do that kind of couple stuff yet. So, she kept her hands in her pockets as they walked, adding in reply to his comment "Rangers lead the way, after all, and yeah, it really is pretty nice out here. Just got done working out earlier, so I'm glad that it stayed pretty cool outside. Speaking of, c'mon, I'll show you the park." That said, she began to walk with a purpose towards the park she'd left not too long ago. It was only a few blocks down, so the walk wans't far, but she made sure to pace herself. This was less for her benefit, of course, and more for Alekaiser's. Programmers may be intelligent, but it'd be negligent of her to expect the same level of physical fitness from him as the Army gave her.
@Silent Observer

Well, Aura has only been around a few months, so she's rather new herself, but yeah it seems conceivable! Especially since it seems like Trixie would work more with SWAT than anything else, of which Aura is a member.
@Argetlam350

Listening to Alekaiser talk, she was relieved to find they shared a few hobbies, and the ones they didn't weren't fundamentally opposed. The whole soulmate system really did seem to work out for the moment since, appearances aside, Alekaiser probably was the type of person she'd choose for herself, someone with a safe, normal job who she could hang out with at home when she wanted to. That aside, it seemed she hadn't even noted that the waitress had brought her the burger she'd ordered, odd considering very little tended to escape Aura's attention. When you served in a battle-zone, particularly the Middle East, you tended to get an eye for detail and an awareness of your situation. Sometimes, it made the difference between spotting a militant early or getting ambushed by people you'd taken for civilians mere minutes earlier. She'd just been too absorbed in the conversation for even her usually keen perception to notice that. She blushed a little from embarrassment upon becoming aware of the food, but then something about Alekaiser caught her eye.

His eyes seemed to change color for a moment, such a short period of time that she'd have assume it was nothing more than a trick of her eyes if she'd blinked. The difference between his normal blue and the strange yellow that had consumed his eyes for that brief moment was pronounced, and hard not to notice when you were looking at his face to begin with. That said, what could that possibly indicate about him? She'd served with a few non-human Rangers, but she'd never gotten a good feel for the other species and what marked them. That said, if he wasn't going to mention it, neither was she. She'd come to realize that it was best to get people to tell you things of their own initiative, so she'd just have to wait for Alekaiser to want to tell her. Besides, they were soulmates, it wasn't like she had a limited amount of time to get him to open up to her, she had the rest of her life. That said though, if he was something other than human, she may have to accustom herself to the idea of him not only outliving her, but looking the same as he does now even when she was old and gray. She visibly shook these thoughts from her mind for now, however, reminding herself "You literally just met him, it's a little early to think about the rest of your life."

That done, she nodded to him and smiled, commenting "Yeah, I prefer to move around anyway, something of a habit. How about we take a walk then, head around the city? I can show you the station I work at and maybe the park where I work out, and you can show me some of your favorite spots. Just a suggestion though, if you have a better idea don't hesitate to speak up." The last bit was hurriedly added, making sure he knew she was flexible as far as this went. Her men had always appreciated a bit of flexibility, and she appreciated it from the brass, so she always made sure to give it when she could.
@Argetlam350

She nervously chuckled and rubbed the back of her head, thinking to herself "Well, hope he likes tom boys, I can't say my habits are girly in any way." The thought brought a slight chuckle from her, but she quickly stifled it and cleared her throat slightly. After a moment to collect her thoughts, she said "Well, I like reading, I play video games and I go shooting at the gun range, though I guess you could half-count that as work, but I love it so hey. What about yourself? Surely you programmer types don't spend all day writing Skynet." She offered the last part in jest with a light chuckle, though even she didn't think her joke had been particularly high quality this time. Her nervousness was beginning to fade as the conversation carried on, as it seemed that Alekaiser didn't meet any of the criterion that had caused her such fear before, and he seemed to be a pretty good conversationalist to boot. For now, it didn't seem like she could've been matched up with much better.
@Argetlam350

She gave a slight grin at his tale of almost-enlisting, yeah she'd hear that before from a lot of people. Plenty of people dallied on the edge but couldn't bring themselves to sign on the dotted line, but that hadn't been a problem for Aura. Shaking this thought from her mind, she replied "Actually, I'm still enlisted in the National Guard, and I work for the local police department. Turns out, they needed some military experience for their SWAT team, so they hired me on. Guess you can take the girl outta the Army, but ya can't take the Army outta the girl." She chuckled at that, though it was a poor joke to say the least. Her guys had always joked that she had deadly aim and a wicked punch, but the humor of a dead tree. She'd never taken kindly to that joke, and had always had some form of suitable retort to fire back, but true to form she'd never been able to get much more than a pity laugh from the men. After a moment, she continued "So, uhh, do you live in town? I have a house not too far from here actually."
Somewhat relieved by the fact that she, at least, had the right person, Aura nodded gratefully and slid into a seat opposite him in the booth. She carefully removed her tan beret and set it gently on the table next to her, allowing her blonde hair to spill out. Messy though it was, she supposed that if this was her soulmate, he should get a good look at as much of her as she could show. She sounded out his name, as he'd said it, in her mind and, after a moment, locked it in. It wasn't hard to pronounce names for her, once she'd heard someone else say it at least. She offered a smile at that, replying "Yeah, I get that a lot about my name, not sure where my folks got it." She did grin at his comment on her rank, since it seemed that at least meant that he wasn't going to go off on some anti-military schpiel. In all honesty, that had been one of her initial fears, but thankfully that at least had come up in her favor.

"Oh, it's not that impressive really, I went to college first so I came in as a Second Lieutenant anyways, just one promotion in eight years is actually kind of a bad record. Anyway, I I'm an infantry officer in the 75th Rangers. So, you're a programmer huh? That's really neat! I wanted to be a programmer in college, but wound up switching over to a Military Science major. What kind of stuff do you usually program?" She was genuinely curious about what a freelance programmer could get up to since, as far as she knew, freelancers didn't usually get much work. Then again, she wasn't exactly an aficionado of the computer industry, so in order to get the intel she wanted her best bet was just to ask the man himself.
As a waitress set her glass of tea before her, Aura couldn't help but wince at the sudden itching and burning on her wrist. The waitress seemed to be looking down at Aura's wrist with excitement and, glancing down, it wasn't hard to tell why. Her marking now had a faint glow to it, accompanying the burning itch in it. Most likely intending to be helpful, the waitress indicated a rear booth and whispered "That gentleman just walked in, he must be the one!" With a muted sigh, she smiled at the waitress and mumbled "Thanks." The waitress walked off, leaving Aura staring at the one who was, most likely, her soul-mate. He had long dark hair, as well as a small goatee. He certainly didn't look overly distinguished, but she was a soldier, not a CEO, so she didn't have incredibly high standards as far as that went, so there wasn't really a reason to make a fuss about that. She couldn't deny however that her heart was quickening at the sight of him, but that was probably just because of how big a deal she'd always been told this was. She couldn't very well just ignore it though so, with a final breath of courage, she got to her feet and walked over.

Standing in front of his booth, she froze for a second and nervously played with the name tab on her uniform before finally saying "Uhhh, hi. My wrist started uhh, burning when you came in, so I figured it's worth a try.." Clearing her throat, and chiding herself for being so timid, she steeled her resolve and continued "My name is Aura Kalstov, 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. Is your name Alli..Alla...Alekayser? I'm sorry, Google may've told me it's Norwegian but it didn't teach me how to pronounce it. Would that be you, by any chance?" Aura was beginning to waver on the spot, nervous about being shot down or, even more embarrassing than that, being told that wasn't his name, but she again steeled her resolve. She was a Ranger, not some high-school girl talking to her first crush, she could bloody well handle this.
And...200

Aura rolled over onto her back, panting with exhaustion from her just completed workout routine. The local park that played host to her workout was fairly cool today, and she was grateful for it. She kept up a harsh PT schedule for herself, refusing to allow her ability to slip down the ladder. This, combined with her frequent visits to the range, kept her at her standards as a Ranger, just in case she ever got called to duty. That was something she always needed to keep in mind of course, she could always be called up to serve in combat again, and if the time came, she really wanted to be ready. That said, this very same readiness was somewhat depressing, as this same readiness kept her on her superiors list in the National Guard. She shook her head and, to steady herself a bit, she looked down at her wrist once more. Written on her wrist was a date, today in fact, when she would meet her soul mate, and she frowned slightly at this. The name was written in Norwegian, as Google Translate had helpfully provided.

She shook her head at the growing frown on her face as she got up, stretching out and yawning slightly. She shouldn't think about these things, it wasn't helpful in the slightest. So, she headed home to clean up before going out on the town for the day. She knew perfectly well there wasn't any escaping meeting her soul mate on her special day, so hiding in her house just raised the chances of it being something..distasteful. At her own home, she showered and cleaned herself carefully, wanting to at least seem like she was a high-class person. After cleaning up, she carefully dressed herself in her Army uniform, her Ranger patch proudly positioned in its usual place. Her tan beret went on to cover her hair as she turned to walk from her house, but stopped at the last second. She strapped her .45, a Colt, in its place on her hip and made sure to bring her wallet, and her gun permits with it. After all, she didn't want to get arrested and find her soul-mate in a jail cell.

Striding out of her house, she headed off towards a local cafe. She was really hungry after all her working out after all, and a cafe seemed a likely place to meet her soulmate. So, she headed off to a local diner she'd heard good things about, and decided to give it a go. After all, it had really good reviews on Yelp. So, she strode into the little cafe and sat down in a booth, smiling lightly to herself. A waitress came by, offering her a menu, and asking what she wanted to drink. Aura ordered a tea and a burger, then leaned back in the booth, smiling lightly at the promise of coming food.
