If I kill off a character or put them in a position where they are un-involved with the story, could I swap them out with a new one? >:)

chaotic neutral from what I understand is True Chaotic. Meaning they do whatever they feel like at the time. That could be decided by flipping a coin or whatever. Working for themselves by any means could be classified as Evil. Because killing is an evil act.

Well it's not that black and white really, or at least it's not supposed to be.

Neutral means they don't exactly lean towards evil or good.

Chaotic can mean they are slightly deranged, spastic in thought or simply a bit off.

That could mean a chaotic neutral is someone who works for themselves by any means, or at least for what they hold dear. It isn't always someone who makes no intense decisions, it's just why they make those decisions and how.
