People are so used to getting shit instantly these days they can't be bothered to fact-check. This is also why it's a thing for major news sources to hear something online and publish it as a story without taking five minutes to figure out it's a hoax, out of context, or just straight up misinformation.

Same here. I stopped using it because after I found all the people I used to be friends with in highschool and college, now I remember why I'm not still friends with them. All the stupid post this and 'like it' crap. I already saw it on reddit like a week ago so it's boring. And dear god, the 'look at what I'm eating' posts need to stop. I don't want to see the shit you're about to shovel in your face. And kids pictures. My friends and family always post their kids doing some stuff that no one ever watches but everyone comments on. No one wants to watch little Emily's play, even you didn't want to watch it so don't force it on us. /rantE: Dervish, I already knew that about you.

Tell me about it. That fucking "Like" whoring and the amount of people posting shit to look like they support a cause or foundation but never did a damn thing towards it, people fighting over differences in opinion that would have never have happened otherwise, and just generally being needy for attention is tiring. It's pretty easy to ignore all of the details that you're bombarded with, if you really want to ignore them. Mind you, I'm not really old enough to know anything other than a childhood without social networking.

Big reason I left Facebook was it was always the same shit, over and over. Canned, boring status updates, people bragging about stuff, the weekend bar updates, so on. You could set a watch to it. There was nothing to gain from it, and everything to lose, give how shady the company is with private information. Plus, the oversharing. Dear god. Groups don't help either, because you know how anonymity brings out the worst in people.
