My name is Nora Norwich, and I'm the hottest--

Well, no, that isn't true. Nora Norwich is not my given name, rather a name I've given myself. It was my father's idea. To help protect me from the many enemies he had made over the centuries. That's right. Centuries. He warned me after my powers manifested that I would be a magnet for miscreants, delinquents, and villains. Be they mortal... or something else. And, in Gotham there are plenty.

One night while walking home with my mother we were attacked. I lost control of my powers... and my mother. Gotham's Dark Knight would swoop down afterwards and temporarily take me in. He convinced me to attend the Corrigan School of Advanced Learning and Development. So here I am. In Star City attending a school with other gifted teens in the hope that I learn to control my abilities.

The bell rung ending English class for the day. As with the other students Nora collected her books and placed them in her book bag. Slinging her bag over her shoulder the fifteen year old stood from her seat to leave the classroom flashing her Mr. Duncan a smile before exiting. Her purple Chuck Taylors made no sound as she walked the halls of the Quadrangle. The school's Academic Quadrangle was the largest building that she had been inside of to date. Nora ran her slender fingers through her long ginger locks. As she walked the high split sides of her black boyfriend t-shirt with the word 'love' in white lettering cascading down the front six times sashayed over her torn blue jeans.

Already the butterflies were doing a number on her tummy. Nora had an A.R.C. (Augmented Reality Center) session next. It was made her anxious to have use her pyrokinetic abilities around others. Nora hadn't joined the school for hero training like all the others she had met here. She had come to learn to control her abilities so she wouldn't be a danger to herself and especially to others.

Before, during and after class quite a few students were talking about an incident that happen outside. Different versions of the story had it taking place within the courtyard. A few actually referred to it as 'the Kyle Incident'. Apparently a younger student, named Kyle if rumors were true, lost control of his abilities and ended up injuring a classmate. If that weren't bad enough the Kryptonian and Martian got involved, yet stories differed on the details.

That was Nora's biggest fear. To be the cause of another person getting injured -or worse- because she didn't have the self-restraint and mastery over her own power. She wished she could have more one-on-one training before having to face off with and against her classmates. The biggest fight Nora had ever gotten was at a photoshoot for the local Denim & Denim store in Gotham when she was twelve. Nora ended up pulling the hair extensions from a blonde girl's head after being called a "redheaded booby head" over and over and over and over again.

Nora wished her father was here. Of course, wherever her father went her 'uncle' would eventually appear as well. Nora shook her head. A big bad demon probably would not be very welcome in Corrigan.

Demon Soul - Because of her father's closeness and dealings in the demonic and infernal, Nora possesses a demonic soul. This does not make her a true demon nor does mean that she is destined to be evil. It does, however grant her supernatural abilities.

• Supernatural Detection - Nora has the ability to detect beings/creatures that are supernatural in origin. Vampires, lycanthropes, ghosts, angels, demons, fae, etc.
• Psychic Shield - Young Nora as a high resistance to mental and empathic intrusions, which includes: mind reading (readers only 'hear' static), psychic attacks, hypnosis, and illusions.
• Dark Fire - Due to her (in)famous father's long time connection with the occult and the demonic, Nora is not your average pyrokinetic. The flames she can produce have a diabolical, mystical nature about them. Nora's dark flames cause intense pain to organic life inside and out (unless a foe has both high resistance/immunity to both fire and magical attacks). Anything that can burn by normal flames may burn by her dark flames. Those whom have a weakness towards magical attacks may take damage from Nora's attacks.
  
  
  • Hand Blasts - Her most common use of her ability, Nora can generate dark fire from both of her hands either in bursts or continuous flames with a maximum range of thirty feet.
  • Manipulation - At the time she starts at the academy Nora has a minimal ability to control the flames she generates. She may control the direction of the flames she produces with some concentration, as well as extinguish the flames at any time.
  • Fire Aura - Nora can surround herself in dark flame making her nearly untouchable during hand-to-hand combat. This is mainly used in self-defense, but if she is angered and truly frightened Nora may spontaneously burst into flame.
  • Fire Resistance - Serefina has full resistance to normal, earthly heat/fire. She has a high resistance to dark fire attacks.

-SKILLS.
Athletic - Nora is a regular runner, swimmer, and a practitioner of yoga. She has taken dance lessons and been a cheerleader throughout her childhood.

Occult Knowledge - This does not mean that Nora can cast spells and perform rituals (though her parentage does give her the potential to learn). Instead, she has a decent amount of knowledge in the occult.

Picture Perfect - Off and on from early childhood to her tweens, Nora has done some local modeling. She may be fairly easily recognized in Gotham, and perhaps Blüdhaven, because her face has appeared in catalogs and billboards around the city in the past.

Multilingual... Kinda - Nora's native language is American English. She has had one year of high school French, and has also been studying Latin.

| LIMITATIONS AND WEAKNESSES: |

Power Level - At the time she joins the school, Nora's abilities are not at full power, so her flames can be extinguished by the usual methods.

Anger / Fear - When greatly angered or dealing with a tremendous amount of fear, Nora may lose control of her abilities which could endanger everyone around her.
At full power dark fire ignores most of the limitations and weaknesses of the normal fire. Dark flames do not just burn, they can incinerate everything, even normal flames, they can incinerate anything to the point of leaving absolutely no byproduct (not even ashes), and smother and "burn" normal fire and water.

White/Blessed Fire - Where dark fire is the darker, destructive and consuming aspects of fire, white fire is a mystical fire of a pure, benevolent nature, which -like dark fire- ignores most of the limitations and weaknesses of the normal fire. This fire is manifestation of the life-giving and sustaining aspect of the fire.

Lack of Experience - Before joining the school she has not had any combat training.

Local Recognition - Due to her modeling, Nora can be recognized fairly easily by residents of Gotham and possibly Blüdhaven.

Nora lay on the sidewalk with her hand holding tightly to the left side of her neck. She could feel her heart beat as blood from the open wounds leaked through her hand making her fingers sticky. She and her mother had been taken by surprise. Nora did have a feeling, a sense that some thing was nearby, but it had struck to quickly for her to react or to warn her mother.

It had the form of a man, yet it wasn't. Maybe it had been human once, but no longer. The thing slowly stalked Nora's mother. It licked it's lips still red with Nora's blood as her mother whimpered crawling on all fours. From the shadows came another creature dropping only a couple of feet in front of the panicking woman. Streetlight gleamed off of the creature's silver plated fangs as it grinned wickedly down at Nora's helpless mother.

"Oh, God! Please save u-- Aah!" her mother screamed in agony as the silver fanged vampire crunched her right hand underneath a dirty, black steel toed boot.

"If God cared about an insignificant thing like you," he taunted, "He wouldn't make you so easy to find."

"Leave her.... alone!" Nora screamed weakly.

The first bloodsucker turned his head and glared at the ginger haired teen from over his leather clad shoulder. "Don't worry, sweat thing," he said with a sneer. "We'll kill her quick. You on the other hand. Well, ..."

"Aah!" The silver fanged one kicked Nora's mother in the head, forcing her to roll over on to her back in agony.

The two vampire dropped to their knees on either side of the middle-aged woman. The first creature bit into her neck and she squealed in agony. The second undead monster bit into her left wrist.

"Momma!" Nora could see the fear in her mother's brown eyes as tears fell from them. Fear welled up inside Nora too. The fear of dying here in this filthy Gotham street. The fear of watching her mother die right here in front of her. She couldn't lose her mother. Nora's father wasn't a regular part of her young life. But, her mother had been there since day one.

As Nora watched the life slowly being drained from her mother purple flames began to erupt around the fifteen year old's hands. The flames did not burn her. They never did. Gradually the violet fire spread from her hands over her arms... continuing to advancing further until her entire body was engulfed. Her clothing ignited, tattered and burned away. The pavement beneath her bubbled and melted.

"What the--?!" the silver fanged vampire exclaimed, blood pouring from his mouth as he spoke. "She's one of those superheroes!" The other bloodsucker leapt up and spun around. His dark eyes widened in shock at the sight of the girl covered in purple fire. Then they narrowed quickly, hissing as he charged at her.

He would never make it. As Nora shrieked, not from pain but from anguish, frustration and fear, everything admist a thirty foot radius was instantaneously consumed within Nora's dark fire. Everything was gone in a moment. Cement and blacktop, brick and glass, gone without a trace. The two undead monsters gone. Nora's mother... gone. There was no evidence left behind. No bone, flesh or even ash visible.

Poor Nora passed out. She lay naked and alone in what used to be a street. She never heard the collapsing building behind her. And she was totally aware of the man whom would sweep down out of the shadows, his dark cape resembling the wings of his namesake before he landed by her side and scooped the girl up in his arms.

Nora currently stands at roughly 5'7" and has a slender, model like figure. Her skin is fair, her eyes are brown, and her red hair is a gift from her father. There are two small scars on the left side of her neck where she was attacked by a vampire.

Nora has just recently joined the school.

Her father is immortal. Time will tell if Nora will share that same gift/curse.

I made some changes from my original idea. She is still a pyrokinetic, but I gave her an even more supernatural origin than originally discussed.

I present my incomplete CS for the pyrokinetic, Serefina Norwich. Critiques are welcome.
I've been toying with the idea of making her deaf because it would be something different to play, but I don't know....
