Umbra

Age: 26

Role: Dark Warlock

Skills
  • Expert Pugilist - Umbra's physical training in the ring has rendered him one of the best hand-to-hand fighters in the region.
  • Inhuman Strength - His training has imbued his body with incredible amounts of strength and endurance.
  • Full Contact Magician - Combined with his knowledge of magic, Umbra is a powerful fist fighter, able to imbue his fists and feet with the elements.

Magic/Supernatural Abilities
  • Elemental Adept - Umbra is sufficiently adept and efficient at handling all the elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Lightning, Light and Darkness. He is able to manipulate and weaponise them to a good extent, though his mastery of the different elements is still a ways away.
  • High Jump/Speed Boost - Using his magic to bolster his body, Umbra is able to use bursts of strength and speed to either jump really high, or travel horizontally really fast. These tire him fairly quickly so he doesn't use them often.

Equipment
  • Gaia's Will - A pair of leather gloves with metal studs on the knuckles, these weapons allow Umbra to channel his elemental magics through his arms and into his fists. These basically allow him to punch people with magic.
  • Strength of Nature - A set of leather harnesses and straps that he wears on his arms and shoulders, these strengthen his arms and bones with the essence of the earth, allowing his arms to absorb the sheer physical force behind his elemental punches.
  • Book of the World - A tome that contains information about the world. It automatically records whatever is spoken into it, its innate magicks translating spoken words into mystical ink prints. If a certain amount of magic is expended, he can even describe pictures that are also printed in colour in its pages. The book itself hangs on a chain attached to Umbra's belt, and he regularly consults it or reads it when he has nothing to do. So far it's barely even a third full, since Umbra has not seen much of the world.
  • Streamlight Shoes - A pair of black formal shoes that, like his gloves, allow Umbra to channel his elemental magics into his legs and feet. They also provide the same limb strengthening that ensures he doesn't break anything when he kicks with inhuman force.

Personality: Inquisitive and curious by nature, Umbra is one who seeks knowledge actively. His more stoic nature belies his natural personality, masking his curiosities and questions in an air of calm and cool.

Biography: Umbra was born and raised as a slave child; an arena gladiator made to fight for other people's pleasure. In the small town he was raised in, there was a gladiatorial arena and a committee, and every year the town would hold a competition to find the strongest fighter in the lands. It drew many, many heroes, fighters and pugilists from near and far, but none could best the town's champion; Umbra's father. For many years no one could best him and the champion went unbeaten.

Then, when Umbra was a young man, the king of the land visited his town to witness the fights in all their morbid splendor. It was the day of the annual competition, and as usual, many fighters went up against the champion but none could best him. Then, Umbra himself took to the ring and bested his father in a spectacular fight, one that lasted for minutes on end. After the end, the king himself applauded Umbra's strength and perseverance and granted the young man one wish. Umbra wished to learn about magic. The king asked why. That was when Umbra presented the king with a large, mystical tome. He told the king that the tome was a mystical volume of information given to him by his father just after the finishing fight, and it meant something to him about his destiny. The king agreed to his request and took him under his wing, placing Umbra under the tutelage of a man named Romulus. This warlock taught Umbra everything he needed to know about magic, but was unable to complete his studies before he passed on of old age. Taking everything he'd learned so far to heart, Umbra took his tome and left the king's castle to undergo a journey.

He followed his instincts, finding that he had a vague sense of several others going on such a similar journey. He went along with this sense and eventually found the other companions of his quest, thus beginning the current story.
Kolskegg had faltered at the salvo of bullets thrown by his Vector. That was a good sign. During the few moments he had between the salvo and him falling to the ground, Cho reloaded. The empty magazine clattered to the stone as he slapped another one into place and cocked the gun.

By that time the Viking had run off again, around him and into the air. He saw the man take flight from a nearby tower and raised his gun to receive him, but the seconds he wasted bringing the smaller weapon to bear were seconds that the huge man bore down on him from above.

He had barely enough time to squeeze his finger round the trigger. The Viking was in his face. His gun, barely pointed at him, instead its barrel was sighted at somewhere just below and next to his left leg. Cho hoped the recoil from the first shot would propel the gun upward to spray its deadly payload at his target.

Otherwise he might just die.
Making sheet now.
