Was talking to someone who worked in closed captioning who is now getting a new degree because so many companies are turning to AI to close caption now… Which AI is pretty shite at it still.

Kiki rolls her shoulders as she thinks about it. “I usually attack first and it ends well for me… I think I need more practice on reacting if that makes sense.” She says after a moment. “So attack first is probably easier then?” Using the palms of her hands, Kiki cracks her knuckles as she waits for Avery’s response.
Nero
Location: Caden & Nero’s House - Chicago, IL Skills: Fit
Nero wiggles happily in Caden’s lap as they shake their head. “I don’t want to miss this - it’s going to be too much fun.” The little demon chirps to Caden before looking over at the human.
“Are you going to stay too?” They ask with a tilt of their head.
Nic glances up from his seat on the floor. “Depends on how much time this is going to take. I don’t want to keep Cass waiting too long.” The nurse also will need a ride home since he drove the SUV to Caden’s to return it.

Kiki can’t help the blush on her ears from hearing Avery call the two of them ‘official’. Once through the sets Avery makes her do, it’s finally time for the two of them to try Kiki’s first sparring lesson. Nero had come to join them all, having finished moving essentials from Caden’s bedroom to the other side of the house and helped Caden with resistance training. Everyone is going through cooldowns at this point, but Kiki can feel Nero and Nic eyes on her as she waits for Avery’s instructions.
Name: Merripen Perran (AKA Pen or Penni to friends) Age: 20 Species: Numan Height/Weight: Pre-Amputation 4’3” (129 cm) / 100 lbs (45 kg) || Post-Amputation 2’9” (84 cm) / 81 lbs (36 kg) Sex/Gender: AFAB (She/Her/Hers) Appearance: A tiny thing to begin with, Merripen has large purple eyes that take up most of her face that react much like earth’s Tarsier (has some of the best nocturnal vision), along with small eyes adorning the two horns on her head that act more like a Norman’s. Her long back hair reaches past her bum and she’ll often have it in her face. At first glance, you would think Merripen has no mouth despite the little dimples appearing in her cheeks, but on closer inspection you’ll find that the skin in the area looks suspicious. She can unhinge her jaw and open her ‘mouth’ widely, the flesh dripping and tearing each time she does so. With no tongue, teeth, or vocal chords, she is not able to speak. Pale with peach undertones, her skin has some dark indigo ombré coloring on her body. Personality: Orphaned at a young age in an accident that took most of her legs, Merripen likes to keep a low profile. Being the daughter of a mob boss wasn’t something she was particularly proud of or willing to share with everyone, even if she was dead. The other children her age would bully her relentlessly for just about anything as she grew up. She keeps to herself, preferring being alone and silently observing the actions of others rather than engaging with others, much like the behavior of a black cat. Vhoth has always been the exception to this, his extroverted charm always managing to bring the tiny thing out of her shell more. Although he’s liked by most, anyone who’s bad-mouthed her best friend usually ends up mysteriously disappearing.
What Are You Looking For?: What she says “The person who killed my parents” || What she doesn’t say “A way to get out of the crime syndicate for good” Capabilities:
Job Consigliere / Works for the new don that took over the crime syndicate after her parents died. Used mostly for her unique kinesis to help find snitches and disloyal members.
Combat Daggers / With her short stature, Merripen likes to dash between the legs of enemies, slicing tendons in their ankles or knees.
Magic Neurokinesis
Magic Form:
Basic Kinesis ability: I Can Fix That (Minor Perception Manipulation) Able to detect emotion from her target and manipulate them
Magic Stain: My What a Big Mouth I Have! Each time she reads the emotions of another living being, her bloodlust grows little by little. If she uses it on a group of people, the stain is multiplied by the amount of beings in the group.
First Spell: Simon Says Able to manipulate target into performing a task for her
Magic Stain: The Better To Eat You With Merripen’s bloodlust must be sated as soon as possible, usually needing to eat a living creature or being within minutes of using or else she will go mad and kill everyone around her, even if one of them is Vhoth.

Nic keeps glancing between Avery and Kimiko, trying to unravel whatever mystery is going on between them. The fox didn’t even look at him when she complimented his tattoo, which was bewildering to him. He watches as she sticks her tongue out at him, agile as she gets up off the floor and heads for the treadmill.
“Do I dare even ask about what’s going on?” Nic says as Avery gets Kimiko and Caden started on their next sets.

“Uh, sure… that works…” Nic seems utterly confused by whatever game Kiki and Avery are playing. When Avery mentions the tattoo, Nic turns so Avery can seek all the details. “Cass did it just last night for me. She also mentioned not to use the arm today in the gym, if that can be helped.”
Kiki, meanwhile, shoots Avery a glare for his nonchalance about her schedule with Nic. “Wow, Nic, that tattoo really suits you. Very well done.” Her eyes don’t leave Avery’s face as she says this though, only moving to glance at Avery’s own tattoo before she smiles innocently.

Kiki grins innocently up at Avery from her place on the floor as she stretches. “Any dates you have with me that might overlap a time for me to meet Nic’s father.”
“You don’t have to, we can just find a time that works for everyone…” Nic says as his ears turn red.
Kiki pats Nic’s calf in an assuring way, albeit a weird way from the placement. “Nonsense! You work in an emergency room; your schedule will be hard enough to plan around without us adding more constraints.” She turns again to smile up at Avery.

Kiki closes her eyes again when Avery leans his forehead against hers, enjoying his musk and the feeling of being close to him immensely. “Hand holding sounds like a good start.” She whispers before Avery gives her a quick kiss. Watching him walk ahead of her into the gym, she cracks a smile.
“You should not.” Kiki tells Caden reproachfully when she enters and hears his little joke.

Nic beams at the compliment Caden just gave him, touched that the immortal demigod dragon approved of him. “That means a lot coming from you, thank you.” He says before Avery finally walks into the gym, Kimiko trailing behind with a flushed face that got even more red at Caden’s comment.
Nic chuckles to himself, shaking his head at the easygoing atmosphere. “Speaking of foxes though, Kimiko, I wanted to ask you about rescheduling that luncheon with my dad if that’s okay?”
“Oh, I’m sorry! I completely forgot!” The fox says, making her way over to Nic so he doesn’t have to shout across the gym. “I don’t have any schedule concerns right now, so if you want to find a time that works best for you and your dad, just let me know.” Kimiko takes a long sip of her smoothie before getting on the floor to start her usual stretches. “I’ll just make Avery reschedule if he plans something.” She said in a stage whisper with a smirk and a wink.

“I would say it’s more on the shy side.” Kiki tells Avery. “Because it’s definitely not that I’m ashamed of you or anything like that.” She says this with emphasis, wanting to are sure he understood her genuine feelings on it.
“I think it’ll just take time for me to be comfortable with public displays of affection is all.” As if to prove her point, Kiki tugs on Avery’s arm to stop him so she can kiss him back. She pulls away once she’s properly flushed and breathless. “But I agree on keeping it professional in the gym.” She says with a wink.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu

Nic smiles, knowing what Caden says it true but unable to help the concern he’ll always have for Cass. At the mention of his tattoo, Nic finishes jumping rope to twist his arm and show Caden the details. “Impressive work from an impressive woman.” Nic says in an almost dreamy tone as he takes the jump rope back to the cabinet.
“I think it’s going well though,” Nic answers with a goofy smile. “Although…” His ears shine red and he shakes his head. He’s not going to bring up the sexual tension between him and Cass to Caden. “Never mind, but… I finally told her I loved her and she said it back. I don’t know how much time I’ll truly have with her, being human and all, but I plan to treasure every moment.”

Kiki takes a long drink from her smoothie before she answers, trying to give herself time to think of an explanation. “I don’t know if I can quite explain it… I mean, I know I get flustered almost any time you kiss me, but in front of the staff? Or our friends?” She shakes her head, still not sure how to explain it. “The only word I can think of is ‘embarrassed’, but that doesn’t fit.” She shoots another sheepish look at Avery.

“Fair,” Nic says between breaths as he skips rope. “I just get worried when I hear the venom in their bite could put her in a coma.” He pauses jumping to finally look at Caden.
“Me too, I can definitely empathize with her, but I know the relationship she has with you is very important to her.” Nic runs a hand through his hair with a sigh. “It’s just hard to make her see that but still come across as a supportive and loving boyfriend… That all being said, I hope you two will be able to reconcile.” He flashes Caden a smile before going back to skipping rope.

Caught off guard, Kiki blinks for a moment as her blush comes back again. It takes a second or so before she digests what Avery’s said. “Oh, yeah, professional.” She says nodding before smiling sheepishly up at him. “I’m also realizing that PDA is confusing in front of people you know.”

Nic starts his stretching to wake up his muscles as Caden talks, nodding along periodically. He goes to grab a jump rope as Caden asks about Cass and pauses to turn his gaze on the other man. “I know the detective asked her to handle red caps? I think they’re called? But… Maybe you could help her with that if you’re looking to build bridges.”
Nic reaches the cabinet the jump rope is in and grabs one before making his way back towards Caden. “Don’t tell her I said anything, but she mentioned your name the other day without immediately scowling so… She might be looking for bridge repairs herself.” He doesn’t look at Caden as he says this, opting to start jumping when he’s done talking. It’ll feel less like he’s betraying Cass’ trust this way.
