Starring Archer | Kavan

A huge smile spread across Archer’s face as his boyfriend pecked him on the cheek. Archer almost hopped up from his seat and embraced Kavan in a tight hug. “God I’ve missed you” he whispered as he pressed his face into the boy’s neck as if he tried to merge with him. It was true he had really missed his better half since he had been keeping his distance while he had been holed up at the Castillo’s dealing with his stuff. He didn’t want to burden Kavan with all of his baggage so he had just told him some vague story about him needing to sort things out with Marisol, which wasn’t technically a lie.

When he finally pulled away Archer’s smile was just as bright “I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life!” he exclaimed as he put his right arm around the small of his boyfriend’s back and his left hand in his own pant pocket as they made their way into the main building. He nervously cast small glances at Kavan as they walked through the crowd; He really did want to tell him what had been going on in his life but maybe the morning of the first day of school wasn’t the best of timings.

“Sorry I’ve been kind of hard to get ahold of lately,” he began clearing his throat. “My brother is home from Harvard and you know it’s a little bit strained between us two…” he continued. “But you’ve got my full attention now!” he smiled tightening the grip around Kavan.

“Oh, it’s no problem,” Kavan said with a shrug, shooting his boyfriend a reassuring smile. “You needed your space, I get it. I actually got to spend more time with my own older sibling in the meantime… and let’s just say, I’m happy to finally be back.” Letting out a chuckle, Kavan paused at his locker and hastily entered the combination. It was when he started emptying the contents of his bag into the small space that he said, “Everything turn out alright with you and Marisol?”

Archer stood quiet as he let his heavy book hit the floor as he opened his own locker. “Uhm… Yeah, I would say so” he said as he too put away his plethora of books. Just keeping his french book in his bag but as he kept groping around he felt a foreign object at the bottom. He fished out a phone that wasn’t his own. He stared at it with a confused face for a little while and then a light went off in his head. It was Max’s phone which he must’ve grabbed by accident from his car.

“Shit I probably need to get this to Max. What’s your first class?” Archer asked looking down at his watch, there was still 20 minutes until class started. “He said he was going to put away his new equipment so I have to go to the sports building on my way to French, you wanna come with me?”

“Sure, why not?” Kavan said with a shrug of his shoulders as he closed his own locker and gestured towards one of the binders in his hand. “I have statistics. And it’s not too far from the locker rooms, so I should be good. It’s not like I’m too eager to do a bunch of math problems first thing in the morning, anyways.”

As the pair walked the emptying halls of King’s talking about everything from what reading they had done as of late to Mrs. Varma’s cooking. When they were closing in on the sports building Archer stopped and grabbed his boyfriend’s hands looking him straight in his chocolate eyes. “Hey… so there is actually something I need to talk to you about.” he began. The curly-haired boy looked over his shoulder before turning back continuing in a low voice “It’s about… something personal that you should know. Can you meet me in the library at lunch?” he asked.

Kavan raised a worried eyebrow as his boyfriend spoke, but managed to offer him an understanding nod in response to his request. He’d noticed that something had been a little off about Archer recently, but decided that it’d be best to wait until lunch to pry. “Of course, we’ll meet at our usual spot by the window.”

The boys then made their way towards the lacrosse locker rooms; pushing the door open, Archer popped his head in to see if he saw Max. The room was seemingly empty, but he spotted his cousin’s huge duffle bag so he stepped inside to find him. “Hey Max I have your ph- “ he began as he walked behind some of the lockers. His sentence could not be finished because he was met with something that made his green eyes widen in horror.

On a bench right behind the lockers was his half-naked cousin with his pants down around his thighs, two clean shaven legs wrapped around him some compromising sounds faintly coming to his ears. “Holy shit!” Archer exclaimed dropping Max’s phone as he walked away crashing into some of the lockers. “Oh my god, I’m sorry… what the fu-” he laughed shielding his eyes with one arm. Kavan peeked around the corner long enough to see what it was that Archer had started freaking out over; he simply turned his back and let out a stifled laugh in response.

The sound of a familiar voice coming from the general vicinity of the locker room entrance, followed by the sound of a body crashing against the wall of small metal doors had Ariana sitting up and turning around in record time. Frazzled, her wide eyes darted around every inch of the room, desperately trying to find the source of their untimely, inconvenient interruption.

Max turned around with a panicked look on his face frantically pulling his pants getting off the bench at the same time. Archer lowered his arm to see who the girl pulling down her skirt was.

"Archer?" Ariana asked when she finally saw the taller boy, nervously grabbing the blazer from the floor next to her and using it to cover her chest- not that she needed to. It was common knowledge that Warren's baby brother didn't share the same interests as he, but that didn't mean she didn't want some of her dignity back.

“Really Ariana?” he couldn’t stop laughing at the situation “First my brother, and now my cousin?” He turned back towards Kavan grabbing his arm dragging him out of the room with him. “Too bad I play for the other team or you could’ve had the whole set!” he cackled as he and Kavan left the awkward room behind them.

The first week of Tyra's Senior year had been a pretty uneventful one, if she did say so herself. Besides being given the opportunity to show around fresh meat throughout the week, and having to sit through a forty minute-long assembly on the first day, Tyra's first few days of school had been pretty... boring. It was basically the same old routine that she'd been going through for the past two years. But it wasn't like she expected for it to be anything special or out of the ordinary; it was Rosefell, after all. Aria Herondale's party was the only thing that Tyra had to look forward to that week, so when Friday night finally arrived the young woman was more than delighted to pick out her flyest outfit and head down to the lake to blow off some steam. Tyra pulled up near the other cars in her 2011 Honda Civic, blasting music from her usual playlist. Her mother's warning about drinking and driving echoed in her head as she cut the engine, pocketed her keys, and got out of the car.

It didn't really come as much of a surprise to Tyra that Morgan Sinclair was the first person she'd seen in the crowd of Rosefell Juniors and Seniors. It was as if she had been subconsciously searching for the girl since she'd gotten out of her car. Although having a bit of a complicated past, Ty was glad that she and Morgan were able to maintain a pretty solid friendship. What did surprise her, however, was the person she spotted embracing the curly-haired woman from behind: none other than her best friend from third grade, Jenna Moore. Had she missed something? Were the two of them an item all of a sudden? Tyra's head whirled with unanswered questions as she continued strolling and surveying the crowd.

DeShawn Marcus. God, was he a sight for sore eyes. As Tyra approached the liquor table, she couldn't help but take a few long gazes in the direction of the two hundred pound football player. To say that she was surprised to see the boy there would be an understatement; she'd never thought he was the partying type given that he usually stayed to himself during school hours. But rather than try to strike up a conversation with the guy she hardly knew, Tyra simply poured herself a drink, gave him a quick nod, and continued on, hoping to find at least one of her friends within the next few minutes.

And that she did.

"Richhhhhh, my brother!" Tyra called out in a sing-song voice as she approached the young man from behind and wrapped an arm around his torso. "What's all this I've been overhearing? Don't tell me that you tryna slide up on my girl Melissa." The goofy grin plastered across her face made it clear that she was only trying to tease the boy. This grin suddenly faded, however, when Tyra realized who it was that Rich had been talking to in the first place: Samantha Queen. It was no secret that Ty wasn't too fond of the other woman for multiple reasons. Nevertheless, Tyra knew that there was no reason to be nasty towards her, especially since she also happened to be cool with one of her close friends; she simply offered the girl a half-smile in greeting. "Nice to see you too... Samantha."

The first day of their last semester of high school. It was the day that everyone at King's Academy had either been looking forward to since their first day freshman year, or the day that marked the dreaded beginning of the end. For Kavan, it was the former. He woke up on that chilly Monday morning with a smile on his face, and got ready for school with a certain pep in his step. As much as he loved King's (sometimes) and all the friends that he made while attending the academy, the young man couldn't help but feel excited about his future. In just under six months, he'd be walking across the stage and receiving his diploma. He'd finally be able to put all of the petty high school drama behind him, and get a fresh start. And most importantly, he'd be able to move out of his home and live his life the way he wanted to, without his parents and their negative energy.

"I'm glad you finally got your car fixed," Kavan said to his older sister as they both walked out of the front door and towards their respective cars. "Not like I was getting tired of being your chauffeur or anything like that." Amoli simply stuck her tongue out at her brother before watching him pull off in the direction of his school.

As usual, Kavan pulled into the parking lot while singing along to Lenny Kravitz. It was only after the song had ended that Kavan cut the engine, gathered his things, and got out of the car. On instinct, Kavan took a quick look around the parking lot to see if he could spot his boyfriend; he figured that he and Marisol would be in their usual spot. But after coming to the conclusion that he wasn't there, Kavan shifted his bookbag onto his back and began to walk.

Kavan spotted Archer near the picnic tables, right as he'd been saying goodbye to the fiery redhead known as Julie MacMillan. Within moments, Kavan appeared at Archer's side and slung his arm around the boy's shoulders. "Well, if it isn't my favorite person in the world," Kavan said before giving him a quick peck on the cheek, "Ready to take on this final semester?"

"Okay, so before I go ahead and put this money in ya pockets, I just want you to know that I am in no way, shape, or form condoning what it is that you're doing."

It was no secret to anyone that Carter Newton was the unofficial weed man of King's Academy. For a couple of years now, people have been coming to the young man with their wads of cash in hand, ready to discreetly trade it all in for the best product their money could buy. Being the good friends that they were, Chanel always knew what Carter did in his free time to make a little extra dough. However, that did not mean that she necessarily approved of it... and she certainly never copped from him whenever she needed her fix.

The two teenagers sat in Chanel's parked car, just like they'd done a few times before. They'd been sitting in the school parking lot for a little under fifteen minutes, listening to the all too familiar Wu-Tang songs that blared through the speakers and talking about what they'd done over the Winter break. The only difference this time was the small baggie that Carter held in his hand, ready to be handed off to Chanel. He could tell that she was reluctant to go through with it, which only made him wonder what finally made her give in.

"Chanel... you need to chill, ma." Carter said with a half smile. "It's just weed. You over here acting like I've been tryna sell you some hardcore drugs like Mr. Candy Man over there. And if you're so pressed about me dealing, what made you switch up all of a sudden, huh? Don't you usually go to some shady ass dude in Lake Worth?"

"I can't go to him anymore, he got caught up," Chanel said quickly with a roll of her eyes. "Whatever. And I don't have time to go searching for someone else. I need it now." And suddenly, in quick motions, Chanel shoved the few bills into Carter's hand, snatched the baggie from his lap, and stowed her newly acquired goods into the glove compartment. Of course, this only caused Carter to grow even more skeptical.

"Something going on with you, Coco? You seem a little, uh... on edge. More than usual, I mean." While his tone was joking, his eyes weren't; to say that he was concerned about his friend would be an understatement.

Chanel let out a deep breath and sat back in her seat. "Sorry, I didn't mean to snatch it," She said, running her hands through her newly installed hair. "It's embarrassing, but my anxiety has just been through the goddamn roof lately. I think it has something to do with going to visit my parents and our old home, because I haven't felt like this since... you know. And Carter, it's our last semester of high school. In less than six months we'll be walking across the stage and beginning our lives as adults. College students. Some of us will be leaving everything we know behind... I'm leaving behind my friends, my newfound home, my comfort zone. I'm panicking, and I'll take whatever I can to ease this fucking feeling."

The two of them sat in silence for a few moments, listening to the music and watching their fellow classmates head through the main entrance. It was only after the song had ended that Carter decided to share some news with Chanel. "I got into Morehouse. Early action. Just like you said I could. And I'm sca-"

In an instant, Chanel perked up and reached over to pinch Carter's cheek. "See, I told your ass that you'd get in. What the fuck did I tell youuuu? I feel like a proud ass big sister."

"Yooo, cut it out, Chanel." Carter said as he tried to pry her hands from his face. "I'll be a first generation college student at the end of the year, I'll be living in a city without the rest of my family, and I might even be moving far away from the one girl in this place that I have real feelings for. What I'm tryna say is that I'm scared too, Chanel. We all are. You don't have nothing to be embarrassed about."

Soon, Chanel and Carter finally got out of the car and began their walk towards the main entrance. "I guess I'll go to Julie's locker now," Chanel said with a smile, "You know, I'm thankful for the talk and all. But, just so you know... I'm keeping the weed."

"Oh yeah, for sure," Carter said with a shrug as he gave her a quick hug and started to head in the opposite direction, "You need to take the edge off, I get it. Besides... I don't do refunds."
