Kaleeth followed Janius silently into one of the rooms. She was not certain she understood everything that had transpired, but it seemed like Janius had upset the men at that table. At least, for the moment, it seemed to be over, so she could focus on all the other things that were confusing her. Just like everything else, she had never seen a room like this. It was small, with only a bed and a dresser and little room for anything else. "This place looks so strange to me, everything does. The other places in town seem okay, but this building and others around it look like they are about to fall down. Why do they build from wood when they have plenty of mud? Wood rots, mud doesn't. And why did Meesei make me wear these uncomfortable clothes? They hold in water, not like my scales that let it slide off. It doesn't make sense."

"I'm not sure, we'll have to ask around, but I suppose it will give us a chance to look around the city. The Ayleid district in the center I find particularly interesting." Meesei answered to Sabine as she went into the as of yet unclaimed room. It seemed she would be sharing it with Sabine and Lorag. While small, the room was not anything she was unaccustomed to.

Ahnasha sat down on the bed and tried to calm down Rhazii, but no amount of rocking or shushing seemed to be helping. "Maybe, though I think he is hungry. Not much you can do about that." She commented before adjusting her dress so he could nurse. "You're lucky. For now, feeding him is my sole responsibility, since no one else can actually do it. Once he starts growing up, though, you can bet I'll start passing that responsibility off to you. You'll have a lot of lost time to make up for." She said with a grin. "Anyway, if he gets to sleep, and I really stress that if, we might both be able to go looking. You won't hear him admit it, but I think Lorag is starting to warm up to Rhazii. He might look after him. I don't blame him, really. Look how cute he is, after all."
I can post soon, hopefully, I'm just doing some work right now.
Do'Khajra audibly sighed when he heard Veria's explanation. "Veria...Mara help me, is that what this was about, an adventure? Khaj thought you two were smarter than that. This one is a soldier, and even he is cautious about going into the wilds. You don't have the training or experience to survive outside of Leyawiin's wall. Maybe in the future you will, but you need training for now." He said as they started heading downstairs to the basement of the chapel. "Just...just think about it, alright? Khaj has been doing this for years, you can trust his judgement."

As they reached the room, Murnglesh led them inside. Swims smiled once more when he saw Veria and Do'Khajra, being careful not to hurt himself again in the process. "There is our savior. Do'Khajra, I'm sure Veria has already said it, but I have to thank you. We wouldn't have survived without you, and your patrol of course. Please pass on my thanks to them as well."

Khaj had a wide smile on his feline face, as he certainly seemed to like the praise. "Ah, well, Khajiit only does what he has been trained to do. Khaj may not have known you two very well before he joined the Legion, but still, it is good to be reminded of why he joined in the first place. He was glad to protect you."
Do'Khajra nodded. "Of course, you are the reason this one has remained in the village this long. Do'Khajra was meant to be in Leyawiin a few hours ago, but Imperial Captains are given some...discretion in our choices. It should be no problem. Khaj will go with you to visit Swims, but then he will have to go." He explained, allowing Murnglesh to take the lead to guide them back to Kynareth's chapel.

On the way back, Do'Khajra walked alongside Veria to question her further on last night's events. "Khaj has not seen you two much since he joined the Legion, what brought you so far from the city? County Leyawiin is a dangerous place, even with the Empire stationing troops along the border to the Dominion. Now, the bandits just set up on the east side of the Niben river. With tensions as high as they are, bandits are taking advantage of how distracted the Legion has become."
Murnglesh nodded to Veria, who came running up beside her. "Yes, I do. He should still be in the Legion outpost on the edge of the village. I believe he has to leave soon, but he delayed because he wanted to know if you two recovered. I'm sure he will be glad to see you. Come, I will take you to him."

The pair walked upstairs, then out of the Temple of Kynareth. As Blankenmarch was not a large settlement by any means, their temple was not a grand stone cathedral like the ones in the big cities, but it was still the largest building in town. There wasn't much different in the environment around Blankenmarch from Leyawiin, as both locations were in the swamp-like Blackwood forest. The air in Leyawiin felt a bit saltier due to the ocean nearby, but that was about the only difference. The village itself was small, consisting of simple wooden buildings treated to withstand the high humidity. There wasn't much in the way of decorations, so it wasn't a beautiful village, but it seemed peaceful. The Imperial Legion had a modest presence to keep the people safe from bandits and other dangers, which was why there was an outpost to begin with.

Murnglesh guided Veria to the Legion outpost, which was essentially a watchtower with a few small rooms in the bottom floor. Very little happened in Blankenmarch that concerned the Legion, so the Imperial sitting in the cramped first room was a bit surprised to see them enter.

"Oh, uh, hello. Can I help you?" He asked.

"Yes, is Do'Khajra still here? We would like to speak with him." Murnglesh requested.

"Yes, uh, hold on, I'll get him." The Imperial responded before getting up from his chair and stepping into another room. Not a minute later, Do'Khajra emerged with a relieved expression on his face once he saw Veria.

"Ah, it is good to see you have recovered. How is swims, is he still alive and well?" Do'Khajra asked.
The man did not seem to like Janius' apology, but since he didn't escalate the situation, he didn't grow any more angry. Instead, he just grunted and turned back to his table. "None of your business, kaoc."

Janius had certainly offended the group, but it didn't look like they cared enough to continue with the confrontation. For Meesei, that was good enough. She did not particularly care if the local population like them, she just wanted to get out without confrontation. She decided it would be best not to even attempt to interact with the patrons any longer and instead approached Sabine and placed her hand on her shoulder. "After we get our rooms situated, do you want to go find a courier to send your letter?" She asked.

Ahnasha smiled at Janius. Since nothing came of the confrontation, she found it rather funny. "You're an amazing people-person, aren't you?" She said sarcastically. Almost immediately, Rhazii started crying in her arms for some inexplicable reason. She started rocking him to try and calm him down, but it did not seem to work in the slightest. Eventually, once a few of the patrons started to look visibly annoyed, she let out a sigh. "I probably deserve that. Come on, let's take this room Fendros." She said before picking the room farthest to the right.
Swims looked into Veria's eyes sympathetically. He could understand why she was blaming herself, but he didn't think what she was saying was true. "Veria, do not be so hard on yourself. If anything, you saved me. That bandit was impatient, and didn't believe that we didn't have the gold, or maybe she didn't even care. She was going to kill us anyway. If you hadn't shot her, then she probably wouldn't have delayed in killing us. If she wouldn't have stopped to, you know, torture you, then those soldiers wouldn't have been able to save us in time. I owe you my life, and I think we both owe those soldiers our lives."

Murnglesh stayed near the door so as not to get in the way, but spoke up once she heard mention of the soldiers. "The patrol that saved you is still here in Blankenmarch. The leader, Do'Khajra I think, wanted to know if you recovered. I still don't think you should move from that bed, but I could go tell him and see if he would like to come to you."

"Yes, please. I would appreciate that. Thank you, for everything." Swims responded. Murnglesh bowed her head, then left the room to go get the Khajiit.
Murnglesh walked along with Veria to guide her to the room her friend was staying in and did her best to reassure her along the way. "As I said, your friend is in perfectly good health, or at least he will be. The bandits broke a few of hit ribs, his jaw, and cracked his skull. I know that sounds bad, but all-in-all, it could have been worse. The head injury did give him a concussion, but the Imperial healer who tended to him first did an excellent job of stopping any damage there, as well as repairing his fractured skull. I have been tending to his other wounds, and he will recover. He is awake, but I have forbidden him from leaving his bed for at least two days. I do not want him himself hurting himself any more than he already is. His jaw still pains him, so he has a bit of trouble speaking, but he is awake and fully conscious. As near as I can tell, it has not hurt his mind."

It was not long before the pair reached Swims' room . Murnglesh opened the door and motioned for Veria to enter. Swims was inside laying down in a bed eating a breakfast of oats, soup, and other items that did not require chewing. "Veria!" He shouted with a smile as soon as he saw her, which of course sent pain shooting through his face and caused him to grab his jaw. "Owww." He groaned. "I really shouldn't laugh. It kind of hurts...a lot. Anyway, I can't tell you how glad I am to see you. Are you alright?" He asked. His voice was somewhat slurred from his injury, but he seemed in good spirits.
"All of your belongings are in your room, you need not worry. Now come, take a seat and let me get a look at you." The priestess said reassuringly. She sat down on one of the benches lining the sides of the hallway and motioned for Veria to do the same. Despite all of the stereotypes of frightening and barbaric Orcs, the priestess had a soothingly calm demeanor. She was not unlike a caring mother for all who would come to her temple. Placing her hand on Veria's head, she let her restoration magic flow through her skull, which both soothed some of Veria's pain, and allowed her to see if anything was wrong with her health.

After a minute or so, the priestess was content that Veria was in good enough health, so she moved her hand from her head and gave her a smile. "I believe you are fine, my child. The soldier who brought you here, he said your name is Veria? It is good to meet you, my name is Murnglesh. Would you like me to take you to your friend, Swims?"
"Come on, let's go quick before this wears off." Sharee ordered, quickly taking the lead as she moved out from the bushes onto the beach and toward the water. Since they were all next to one another, it was easy enough for them to see each other, but not from too far of a distance. As she reached the water, she turned and looked at the silhouetted shapes behind her. It was good that Malakaus had a waterbreathing potion for himself. She actually had one she brought she would have given him, as he was not going to be doing much of anything that resembled swimming in that armor. For the rest of them, the swim was short enough that they could just hold their breath.

They would need to split into two groups, so Sharee decided to give command of the second to Malakaus, mostly because his silhouette was large and easy to identify. That, and they needed at least one person on each team that could handle a frontline fight. "Serge, Sarel, follow me, we'll hit the right side of the dock. Everyone else, follow Malakaus to the left. Let's go."

Sharee slipped quietly into the water, then swam on the surface to the very edge of the rock wall that was breaking their line of sight to the inside. With every second that passed, the spell concealing them was fading, so she quickly dove under and swam into the cove as soon as everyone else had caught up. She swam as quickly under the surface as she could get away with while still allowing the others, especially Malakaus, to keep up. After a few seconds, they split off into their two groups and headed to opposite sides of the dock. Sharee could see just above the surface, but the lighting inside the cove was not exactly good, and she could not see the location of every bandit. Hopefully, most of them would be inside the cave, so they would be able to establish positions on either side of the door.

Slowly, Sharee crept up to the edge of the dock and grabbed on to one of the supports. From where she was, she could see that there was a bandit immediately above her. He was sitting on the dock facing off to the left fishing, and completely unaware of her presence. He would be an easy enough target, but as soon as he was dead, she would no doubt be spotted. She could feel the chameleon spell wearing off, so she could wait no longer. Grabbing one of her daggers from its sheath, she grabbed a hold of the edge of the dock and pulled herself up. The Khajiit heard some movement behind him and turned around, but he was unable to stop her blade from entering his throat. Unfortunately, with the chameleon effect completely gone, the other bandits on the dock immediately saw her. She moved the dagger to her left hand and drew her cutlass while the others climbed up on both sides of the dock. At a glance, Sharee could see five bandits, but there were no doubt more inside, and when one of them shouted out that they were under attack, there was also no doubt that they would be rushing outside very soon. The bandits did have to grab their weapons, which were scattered around them, but that would only serve as an equalizer to allow the rest of Sharee's officers to climb up and get ready to fight.
