"I do not think you want to be that person, Lunise." Meesei remarked. "That person is threatening, cold, distant. The perfect persona for your work, granted, but that is not someone who can really be close to anyone else. I want my pack to be able to see you for more than just your title, for professional and...personal reasons. We will be able to work together more easily if they trust you, but more than that, I do truly feel that you would get along. I do truly feel that you would be happier for knowing them as I do. And you can trust me when I say that it would not make you seem any weaker in their eyes. They are accustomed to me putting on such personalities, just not as permanently."

Pausing a moment, Meesei kissed Lunise on the cheek. "So, would you like for me to create a portal?"
"I can take us anywhere, so you would never meet them with any risk." Meesei responded with confidence.

Meesei smiled with Lunise's last question. The reactions of her pas was something she had thought about on several occasions, and something that she was actually rather looking forward to seeing. "My pack trusts me as much as I trust them, and they are completely familiar with the concept of putting on an act for professional purposes. I do not suspect that it will be difficult for them to accept that you could be a different person than you have let on to them. Although, they do only know you by your Justicar persona, so when they see you with me for the first time and realize that you are my mysterious paramour...well, I expect the reactions to be quite honestly hilarious. Just try not to take offense to any of their initial reactions; you are quite a convincing actor." Meesei remarked.
"I understand why you are worried, Lunise. Your career has taught you to be, but it is not always necessary." Meesei responded, calmly and compassionately. "My pack has learned to be cautious as well through the years, do not forget. We are camped in the middle of the desert, and not so close to the city that we can actually see it. If someone were to approach us, well, they would have to cross open, mostly flat land as far as the eye can see. No one is going to be sneaking up on us, and it is not as if you have to wear your Thalmor uniform. I absolutely support your caution, do not get me wrong, but that caution should not become paranoia."

Slowly, Meesei stood and walked up behind Lunise, wrapping her arms around her waist and resting her head on her left shoulder. "You know I would not take unnecessary risks with your life. I am suggesting this because this specific meeting, in this specific place would be no risk at all. At least no more risk than you take just walking outside every day. I think it would make us both happier to have the knowledge that we do not have to live a lie around everyone except ourselves."
"Lunise..." Meesei began, though she hesitated as she tried to reason out in her mind the best way to describe her point. "It is difficult to put into words how much I trust my pack. If you gathered every gold coin in the Empire and offered it to each of them in exchange for betraying me, not a single one would take the offer. If they were offered eternal life, health, and unlimited power to betray me, I am wholly and completely confident they would all still support me. They are a family closer than any I was born with, a family with bonds strong enough that they will transcend death itself. I only suggest telling them about us because I know that there is no risk whatsoever of them betraying that secret. I trust them just as surely as I trust the sun will rise every day. Even if we cannot have a public relationship, I would like for us to be able to at least have some part of that experience. Even if it is just a small group that we can be ourselves around, unafraid."

"And...it is not as if there are no...practical considerations for why I am suggesting this." Meesei added. "I want them to know to what extent I trust you. We are going to be working together against Vile, and later to hopefully replace your superiors. I do not wish for them to view you with suspicion. And if something were ever to happen to me...I would fear that they could possibly grow hesitant to work with you. They only know you as the person you act like you are as a Justiciar, remember. Besides, my pack already knows you are no longer a loyal servant of your superiors. They were there on that mission; they were part of at least one or two of the meetings we had with Marod and Areldril. That information alone, if spread to your superiors, would make your superiors brand you as a traitor just as assuredly as knowing that we are lovers. With that in mind...is there any real harm in proving to my pack why they should trust you?"
Although Meesei would have liked to comment and offer her help to Lunise, she decided to listen to Lunise's suggestion to ignore it for the moment. Ultimately, the task her pack was undertaking was far more important at the moment. Indeed, it might have been one of the most important tasks that anyone in Tamriel was attempting at this point in time, or at least Meesei hoped that was the case. It would not be comfortable knowing that there were multiple immediate threats to Tamriel's existence at the moment.

“Well, my pack is better than ever, all things considered. I have been training Sabine in some of the techniques I learned in Apocrypha. Most notably portals at the moment. She is a wonderful mage, and has been successful in learning the ability, though she does not quite have the magicka pool to create one without a fortifying potion. It is difficult for even me, so I can hardly blame her. I hope to teach her the rest in time. I have made volumes of meticulous notes on my studies, so I think I will give those to her. And Fendros, I believe, is truly stepping up to his new role as my second. He is intelligent, and more capable than he even gives himself credit for. I do not lie to him when I tell him that he could one day be strong enough to earn my title from me. He was born under the sign of the atronach, and every day, he becomes more and more adept at absorbing magic. With his affinity for learning, he could one day make himself almost completely immune to magical attacks. Like the General Do’Rhajul, but without the need for a magic shield.” Meesei explained, her tone showing a hint of the pride that she held for the members of her pack.

Meesei spent a few moments silently staring into Lunise’s eyes before deciding to add one more comment. “You know, my pack is currently camped alone at an oasis outside Sentinel. Everyone is settled down, relaxing, and I believe they were going to have dinner soon. It would be the perfect time to go meet them. You know, as yourself, instead of behind a Justicar façade.”
"The Redguard does style himself as a hero, but he is essentially just a mercenary with a moral code. It may be as simple as buying the weapon off of him. No doubt he is fond of it, but the Rueful axe is not an exceptionally well-known artifact. He may simply view it as a well-made, enchanted weapon. From that perspective, he may charge a high price to part from his weapon, but if he felt that he could buy something more valuable with the gold we offer, he would likely sell. The clans are easily able to pay whatever price he would reasonably ask. Should that fail...theft would be a viable alternative. Between myself and Ahnasha, we should be able to claim it. I would rather avoid violence unless absolutely necessary. I may not like adventurers, but I would like to avoid murdering them." Meesei answered.

With a visible smile, Meesei reached up and ran her hand across Lunise's cheek. "At any rate, acquiring the axe itself should be far from the most difficult thing I have ever done. Hopefully, we will have it soon, then I can worry about finding a god or godlike being to empower it. Work is never done, I suppose, but it is quite easy to forget about it in your company. I have to wonder if loving company is what has been keeping most of my pack sane through the years. Most of them have found love." She added.
Meesei was just as quick to embrace Lunise. She had not changed out of her desert cloak before opening the portal, though she had not worn it the last time she had visited Lunise. After a quick kiss, Meesei slid herself down to sit on the edge of Lunise's bed, still keeping one arm around her. "Indeed, we have been in the Alik'r for most of the time since we were last able to meet. It had not yet cooled down for the night."

Meesei looked straight ahead for a moment, pausing in thought as she recalled their last meeting. "Okay, so where were we the last time...ah, yes, you remember the lead on that Nord we were following? The reportedly 'invincible' warrior who won the axe wagering on a drinking contest, and who was going to 'keep those Elves of of Hammerfell' by himself? Well, he apparently died of heat exhaustion out in the desert. A wandering trader took the axe from the body, then later gave it away to a local Redguard as a reward for helping him. Obviously, he did not know what he was giving away. The Redguard is the type that likes to style himself as a local hero, and to his credit, he has actually done something aside from boasting. He has been taking bounties on some threats in the area; bandits, unruly creatures, and such. We investigated an old fort he had cleared of bandits, and saw some quite interesting aftermath of that fight. It looked like he had swung his weapon straight through some of the stonework, which would definitely support the notion that a Daedric artifact was involved. We are going to be heading into Sentinel tomorrow to follow up on one of our leads after him. It is not as much progress as I had hoped for by this point, but I am glad to at least finally have firm evidence that we are on the right trail." Meesei explained.
Meesei's face lit up upon seeing Lunise's response in her ring. As per usual, she could feel the connection to the ring's counterpart, though she did not actually know where the ring was in Tamriel. By ship, Lunise could have gone nearly anywhere in the last few weeks. Perhaps it would be somewhere exciting, though if it was not, they could easily go wherever else they liked.

Standing up from where she was sitting near the fire, Meesei spoke up to the rest of her pack. "I am going to travel somewhere for a while. I will be back by morning at the latest." She announced. Although she had not been specific, all of the pack was well-aware of Meesei's relationship and why she had been teleporting herself away the last few months. She had still not told them the exact identity of who she was meeting with, and exactly as Meesei had expected, they were nowhere near guessing her identity. Lorag had actually come the closest, though that was only because he had been making absurd guesses as a joke.

Meesei started the process of creating the portal in a clear spot near the campfires. Looking up from the sword he was sharpening, Lorag gave a brief laugh. "Heh, sure you don't need to be takin' one of Sabine's potions along, alpha?"

Meesei rolled her eyes. "I shall be fine, Lorag, you need not worry."

"He'll probably stop if you let us in on who this mystery person actually is." Ahnasha commented.

Meesei gave a quick glance to Ahnasha, though she had to keep most of her concentration on her portal. "Perhaps I will be persuasive enough to make that happen. I would like for my partner to be able to share in our family. This oasis would certainly be a wonderful place to meet for the first time. We shall see."

Once the portal was complete, Meesei had to step through quickly, since it was difficult to maintain an open portal for an extended period. Stepping through, she did not know where she was going to end up.
It was a few weeks before Meesei's pack was ready to start their search for the Rueful axe, though they did not spend the entire time relaxing. Sabine's training with Fendros continued every single day, with Meesei joining in to help at least half the time. As often as she could, Meesei would also take the time to teach Sabine about some of the more advanced forms of magic she had developed over the years, portals in particular. For short term, practical purposes, the ability to create portals would allow Sabine to travel anywhere in Tamriel she liked, any time she liked. It would make it particularly easy for Sabine to maintain any relationship she might want to enter into, but Meesei did have another motivation behind dedicating all of that time to that particular form of training. Meesei was uneasy with the fact that the propylon chambers, which the clans had come to rely upon to communicate and operate as efficiently as they were, could only be created and maintained solely by Meesei herself. She wanted to train others whom she trusted to be proficient in the same ability. If Sabine could learn the secrets of teleportation, then she too could maintain the infrastructure they had created.

Whenever her spare time allowed it, Meesei also attempted to meet with Lunise. She knew it would not always be convenient, but for the moment, Lunise was still traveling back Alinor from Bravil, which was a journey that took some time. Meesei would have liked to simply take Lunise to her destination immediately, but Lunise arriving so quickly would certainly raised some questions. Nevertheless, since Lunise was simply traveling, they had plenty of opportunities to be together. Meesei even brought Lunise back through a portal into her own chamber on one occasion, though Lunise did not leave that one room.

Although tensions were high among Meesei's pack regarding the threat they were preparing to face, the search itself somewhat diminished that sense of urgency. Despite the leads they started with, the pack's search for the Rueful Axe turned out to be quite a long and dull process. Their mission entailed tracking down people who were rumored to have seen the axe and questioning them, then finding the next person that they would inevitably be told to speak to. Occasionally, they would be directed to an old abandoned ruin, which would usually contain little more than sand. The most exciting event that happened for months was when the pack were able to make a meal out of a group of highwaymen that were inhabiting one of the ruined military forts.

At the very least, traversing Hammerfell's generally arid landscape was not as unpleasant as it had been in the past for the pack. The pack were almost exclusively wearing long robes made from breathable fabric that protected well against both the sun and sand. While bulkier than their usual garb, it was far more comfortable in the Alik'r than any alternative. They could also carry ample food and water supplies at all times, by virtue of Meesei being able to return to Blackreach at will. Meesei, Kaleeth, Julan and Leaps in particular benefited from being able to bathe whenever they needed in order to avoid the discomfort of the dry air.

Despite their lack of success in the search so far, Meesei did not believe that it was hopeless, as the lead they were currently following was far more promising than any they had tried thusfar. From the story they had gathered so far, a local adventurer and self-styled hero had acquired the Rueful axe after it had been brought to Hammerfell by another, Nord adventurer from Skyrim, who had reportedly won the axe in a wager. The Nord had died from either dehydration or overheating in the desert, and the weapon was then acquired by a trader who found the corpse along the road. From there, the trader's caravan was saved by the Redguard adventurer, and he was given the axe as a reward, since the trader likely did not know its true value. The Redguard gained some measure of fame in the area around Sentinel for his exploits with the axe, and indeed, the pack had found some evidence to support that in the last ruined fort they had explored. The bandits that had once inhabited the place had been killed, with wounds that would match those such a weapon would deliver. They had also spotted a few marks in the stone walls where an errant swing or two could have hit the stonework, and the weapon which had made the marks was certainly the stronger of the two materials. Given that the Rueful axe was exceptionally more durable than the steel that it appeared to be made of, it was also a good match to be the weapon that made the marks.

It was the middle of the night, so Meesei's pack decided to wait until morning to head into Sentinel proper. For the moment, they had made camp at an oasis a fairly short distance from the city. There was plenty of grass, trees, and even water, and since it was after dark, they did not need to worry about protecting themselves from the sun. In fact, they had a few campfires going to make sure they stayed warm as once the air cooled.

It had not been a particularly long day for the pack at this point, so it would likely be a few hours yet before anyone would be ready to get to sleep, and they all had their ways of passing the time. Currently, Julan was playing with Leaps near the edge of the water, and was also practicing his magic at the same time. He had the ability now to pick up small to moderate sized objects with telekinesis, and to throw them around at a little less than his own strength. He was using that ability to move around a stick that Leaps was chasing. Although, Kaleeth was keeping a sharp eye on the both of them the entire time, as Leaps was now a creature that, while well-trained, could accidentally harm them. While still technically a juvenile, Leaps was quite close to being an adult. He was now more massive than Kaleeth in here werecrocodile form, by at least a small degree, and about as tall as the average adult Human in his normal posture. With his size, horns, spikes, and penchant for discharging electricity, one needed to treat him with respect.

Meesei, meanwhile, was sitting by the fire, looking down at her hand as she charged a small amount of magic through her gold ring. It had been a few weeks since Lunise had been available, and she hoped that she would have the opportunity this night.
Honestly, there isn't anything of importance before they set out on the hunt for the axe. The search will take a while for them, so I planned to skip to a spot a few months in, near Sentinel in Hammerfell. The search up to that point would be rather slow and mundane, just traveling around talking to people and following up on leads that Saras' agents give them. Probably no fights beyond a highwaymen encounter, since Vile's people have mostly given up on the lycans.
