Name: Samuel Wolfe
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: Sam is 5'10" and of average build and weight for his height. He has short, black hair with green eyes. (Werewolf appearance: http://moviewriternyu.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/werewolf.gif

Skills/talents: Sam is not a strong or athletic individual, but he is exceptionally intelligent, and well educated. He is very familiar with technology, hence his major in computer science. He has never been into sports, but he is a fan of archery and shooting competitions. He has entered them before, and though he has never won one, he has scored respectably.

Background: Sam was born to a lower class family living in Virginia, though that never tempered his aspirations toward the future. He is a naturally intelligent individual and has excelled in his academic pursuits. Science and technology are two of his favorite subjects, and though he would love to be a scientist, he has pursued technology for practical reasons.

Other than his academic success, there was nothing exceptional about his early life. Sports and athletics have never been a focus for him, but, perhaps due to his small-town upbringing, he did take an interest in both shooting and archery. He is well practiced with a firearm, and though he has never won any competitions, he has entered a few. He owns a handgun, but never carries it with him inside the city. On the more intellectual side of things, he has extensive knowledge of programming for his age, as well as networking and knowledge of how to troubleshoot computer issues. Before graduating high school, he used those skilled to earn money through odd jobs, but now that he is alone and paying his own way through college, he has taken a job in tech support for a local company. He also makes money through hacking by finding vulnerabilities in the websites of companies, then reporting them to said companies for payment.
I think one of my earlier questions got buried. Do you think it would be alright if, in addition to the mental warding class that is being taught by another instructor, that another class be available that is taught by Satori? That way, the students who are not quite as bitter about the whole ordeal can have the opportunity to learn from the best?

Or, if you are a pyromancer and get teh first draw, you can turn the psychomancer into charred carcass within 5 seconds. Or if you are an electromancer against someone wearing armor and you fry the fuckerAeromancer that summons a massive gale of wind to sweep the psychomancer off his feet and 50 feet into the airNoxomancer that hurls DEATH AT YOU!!!Geomancer that summons SPIKES OF FLINT from the ground and up the psychomancer's ass.

I would like to point out that the armor thing doesn't work as you say with electricity. Metal armor acts like your own personal Faraday cage, essentially. Electricity takes the path of least resistance to the ground, and the metal of the armor has much less resistance than flesh. Contrary to popular belief, that is why cars are safe in lightning storms. It has nothing to do with rubber tires.

Edit: of course, if the electricity heats the metal enough to melt it, then you have a whole new and different problem, so electromancy would still definitely be useful.

Sure, there would be a limit to it. Such as time that is needed to sort through the memories, implant the memories etc etc. Nothing instantanious. But how fair is it to be up against a Pyromancer that can melt your face with a thought? Or an Electromancer that can manipulate magnetism which is control of everything metal. Hell, using Magnetism to become a human rail gun for Gods sake. Nothing is fair when you take time to think about it.

I think Witch has a point here, all bloods have some pretty powerful effects. Like vitamancy, with the ability to damage a person by using their magic on their insides. How would one defend against that without a rune or something? Psychomancy's counter is mental wards, but I think runes are the only thing that would work there.

The truth is, at current psychomancy is very UNbalanced in combat unless you have a rune, which may or may not work. Though I know they're working on it.

I wouldn't say so, since it is not capable of actual physical harm. I would assume that, if two masters got into a fight, the other master would be able to ward against very direct mental attacks, but illusions would get through. I think all other bloods have AoE attacks, though, and the psychomancer would have to perform a physical attack to do any real damage.

Assuming two mages with equal skill in magic and physical prowess, but different bloods, there should be no situation in which one blood is superior to the other in a one on one fight.

True, though their is much more to magic than fighting, with all bloods. They all seem to have applications off of the battlefield.
As long as psychomancy isn't underpowered in relation to other bloods, I'm fine with it. Ssarak has already experienced a considerable nerf from when I thought of him, but strength is more of a secondary attribute for the character anyway. The concept of misdirection and mental manipulation has always been my long-term goal.

Edit: Could students at least get an option to take the warding course from Satori? It seems like the best psychomancer in the college would be most qualified to teach it. Relating to your analogy, it might be hard to ask someone to take lessons from your attacker, but there would be no one more qualified to teach you about their techniques than themselves.

That might have been a typo, but I think they meant Psychomancy Warding Class; it helps mages protect their minds from Psychomancy attack. Kind of like a mental self-defense course. Ran by Satori obviously. Classes available to all students who'd like it, though Psychomancers will obviously have this course part of their curriculum. As for Psychomancy as a whole, we're discussing it's effects. The mind is a different beast from the body, so we the GM's are discussing balancing acts.

Wouldn't it be completely counterproductive to restrict this class from being taught after that display? Wouldn't the students want to learn that after going through that demonstration?

And I can definitely see how psychomancy is difficult to balance. On the one hand, it has a lot of potential, but on the other, you don't want to have something that can make it completely useless (unless all bloods have something that can make them completely useless. Then it is fair). Psychomancy seems so interesting to me, and it is one of the things I am the most excited about.

Also, my internet has been fixed.
I managed to get enough time to read the most recent posts. What is a psychomancy warden class?
My internet is out at home, so I may be delayed in responding. I will try to do it before going home, though.
