Watching the funeral processions from atop a nearby stone, Minoru let out a puff from deep within his lungs. Just a deep breath. Despite the fact that he knew next to nothing about the departed, he felt his bones grow cold when he thought about their sacrifice. Of course it's the honorable thing to do, laying down your life for others, but he was forced to wonder what they were like when they were among the living. Too late to find out now, he confessed inwardly.

He felt like he'd missed a grand opportunity. Now, even if he wanted to, he could never know this pair of heroes. He held an arrowhead in his hand, not to harm anyone on an occasion already so grim, but just to make himself not feel empty. Watching the tears stream down the faces of others was touching, and a bit inspiring. He looked at the other genin scattered around the area. Some were crying, some were stoic, and others simply seemed a bit lost.

"I promise..," he muttered, "I promise.. that I will value every shinobi I meet in my lifetime." Who knows if one day I'll be the one carrying that casket, and it's one of my friends who have gone cold.

World Traveler, I kinda modeled my sheet after yours and designed my character as something of a counter to it. So yeah, it is cool. I just think it's neat that we got paired. With the brainy teacher, I think our team should stand out as a force to be reckoned with.

My Mission Ideas:

Backstabber: In order to capture a squad of Genin to use as abductees in a ransom, a rogue Jounin poses as a client in need of protection.
Pies and Prejudice: In order to conduct a festival, a small settlement within a valley is in need of a special kind of berry as an ingredient in their secret pie recipe. But the only remaining sources are inside the boundary of a stone-village hating noble. In trade for the berries, the noble wants the ninja to retrieve him the recipe.
The Curse of the Cacucoo Clan: Every ten years on the same date, a member of the Cacucoo Clan (no one important) unwillingly commits suicide in a village's center. A team is dispatched to investigate and prevent the next.
Thespian Pursuits: A squad of Genin are hired to help train actors in a theatre to accurately portray ninja. But when the curtain drops, it turns into an assassination of the director.[/B]

Simply browsing the Internet to find which episodes feature Gaara spoiled my biggest Naruto question. Unfortunately, now I know who he ends up with.

Known History and Secrets:

For the mostpart, he is recognized for his ability with a bow. Generally, he is an open book. His clan's Kekkei Genkai is fairly well known, even though his nuclear family is not. He prefers to keep the fact that he was self taught to himself because it isn't as impressive as the backgrounds of others.

History:

Minoru's father had been one of the stone village's huntsman, having married a shinobi who he had grown up with. Once married, Minoru's mother decided to open up a general store. They sold everything from pelts, to clothes to weaponry. Naturally, even from a young age, Minoru picked up on a variety of skills. His father taught him to use his Kekkei Genkai in order to hunt animals and trap them. Also in his upbringing, he was taught carpentry by his uncle, his parents' store's biggest supplier of weaponry. Nearly an entire summer was spent learning how to craft bows and arrows.

When Minoru went to the Stone Village's academy, he was taught the basic techniques. He was quick to learn and attentive to all instruction. Despite lacking a natural strength for Genjutsu, he was able to develop it to the point he'd surpassed the ability of all his classmates. In class, he was often used to help the others along with their learning by the instructor. As the top student, he was even permitted to graduate early, albeit not by much. As a Genin, without the educational rigidity of The Academy, he began to develop his ability with his smoke techniques.

Personality:

Minoru is generally obedient and willing to follow instruction even if he doesn't yet understand its purpose. He has a patience for results that causes him to be upset or disturbed when there is a sudden change in plans. He is friendly, generous, and attentive to others, despite an interest in his own goals. He enjoys learning new things and developing his own skills. Shooting arrows is his favorite way to relax and unwind. He is also very proud of his own accuracy.

Despite his social outgoingness, he enjoys taking time to himself to simply watch the clouds or take long solitary walks. He is generally easy-going and relaxed. He isn't easily startled as a result of intense training to notice minor movements for archery purposes. To an enemy, he isn't savage or ferocious, he gets silent. When in danger, he does his best to become a hunter and put the enemy down effectively.

In order to use this in an offensive manner, the user may perform this with something such as ground minerals or sawdust to add impact to the blast, as well as leaving hot, albeit small, embers on the surface struck.
Weakness: It has very little ability to push things, the equivalent of a quick shove with a hand. It also can be fairly difficult to line up a shot when not on a level surface because hands do not have 'scopes'.

Description: Like a shadow clone, a smoke clone has mass and casts the illusion of being the user. But in actuality it is a cloud of smoke that has taken on the image of a human. When impacted, it will dissipate, but whatever strikes it may be burnt.
Weakness: Thus far he has only exhibited the ability to sustain one of these clones for thirty seconds before it dissipates. If his concentration is broken, the clone will fade. And he can only make one at a time, due to skill.

Name: Recurve Bow
Description: A handmade bow, roughly two feet tall, painted green. It is fairly accurate and reliable, but when used it makes a sharp snapping sound that betrays the user's location.

Name: Quiver
Description: A depository for arrows, holding a maximum of fifteen. A green stripe on the shaft differentiates arrows with a poisoned tip from 'sterile' ones. The quiver itself is rectangular, lacking a lid, wooden, and held in place by a strap that diagonally crosses Minoru's upper torso, and another that holds it to his outer thigh. Beside the arrow compartment is a thin space that can be unzipped for more versatile storage. In place of knives, he'll usually improvise an arrowhead.

Description: A collection of four sided throwing stars with a circle in the center. Generally he has about five to eight, preferring to use his arrows.

Description: Small pills made from various ingredients with a high concentrations of nutrients and specially selected herbs to replenish one's chakra and nourish the body, revitalizing the user and even pushing his ability slightly past normal. Kept in a pouch, he keeps it as full as he can.

Description: A chakra infused piece of paper that can be remotely detonated. He keeps a small stack of ten on hand.

Name: Line
Description: Ultra durable cord that is lightweight and thin, yet strong and resistant to being snapped because of its ultimately complex nature. He typically keeps about fifteen meters of it in a 'floss' style container.

Description: A pouch filled with shavings from stones, painstakingly ground by hand.

Known history and secrets: In the Land of Fire, Katsu was born into the main household of the Hyuga clan. He was pampered at the earliest stages of life, but then he was kidnapped by a rogue ninja who had intended to add Katsu's chakra to his own, nothing actually personal. At the cost of his own life, a member of one of the branch households rescued Katsu, slaying his abductor, though Katsu never returned to the Land of Fire. He was adopted by the local shinobi and taken to the Village Hidden in The Snow. Not feeling that he should bother putting in the effort to become a top student, he passed the academy at age 12 with his contemporaries. He has long been told he has fantastic potential, but chose to slide by because he lacked the belief that he was worthy of anything great. But after a revelation, he decided that for once in his life he would actually put forth the effort to do something great. He is aware of his Hyuga lineage due to his Byakugan, but he has never left the snow village.
