Current I'm tempted to say "I've lost better friends than you" to a lote of people lately. I'm not sure what I ever want to say to the better friends that I've lost, though.

Bio

Twelve years ago, I said something on this website that continues to embarrassing me to this day. I was a stupid kid, like most, but I've never quite gotten the taste out of my mouth. Anyone who knew me at the time can tell you about it.

I love this website. I'm pretty sure my phylactery is stored wherever the webserver is and a significant chunk of me will just disappear when it ceases operation. Until then, it comforts me. I should go to the hardware store and paint my bedroom walls with the same soft, brownish grey that the background color has been for the last twelve years. Some of my friends can't wait for the site to go offline but I don't know of any other places that offer the same sense of community.

I'm an omni-gamer. I like board games, tabletop roleplaying games, admire tabletop war games, suck at riddles, and have an absurd library of video games. Survival horror is basically my favorite genre. Otherwise I'm a fan of esoteric, occult bullshit and punk rock. But disco's cool. Disco is what humanity sounds like when it chooses to be happy. Between you and I, I'd like to hope that the days of my life can sparkle like a disco ball, accreting like sparks from a grinder held up against the unwavering dark of deaths own shadow. Burn baby burn.

You and I, we're gonna die. We should be friends first, though. Write some checks we can't cash and make eachother smile. Make believe for a while.

Yeah that's good, I might change 'Supernatural' to ancient though if that's okay?

That works.
How's this?
Lord Wraith said
Oh I have more to add to that, if you read it, it's just he same background blurb as in the OOC. I'd like to add more to it yet. Just have to finish my character first.

That works for me.
Lord Wraith said
Did you have a little blurb for it or did you just want me to make something up from your CS?

I don't have anything off-hand, but I can make something up for you in a minute.
Oh yeah, one other thing. Does the post at the beginning of the IC mean we can start yet? Or are we waiting on something else too? Either way I'm cool with it, just figured I'd ask.

Hey Nightrunner, did you want The Lamp added to 'Notable Locations'?

Sure. Thanks, Wraith. It'd be cool if some PCs dropped in on occasion.
I'll likely put my sheet up as soon as I get a response to the PM I sent Wraith. I'm in the clear, I just have one last question.

Edit: All good. CS is up for your enjoyment. And I'm off to write posts.
It seems excruciatingly obvious now that my theme is Green Day's Burnout.

I used to play with them when I was 11. I even remember getting the film the day it came out on VHS! Memories... <3Lets see, there were the Borocks (Kinda like the Gorons from The Legend Of Zelda), the Toua (Guardian people that controlled the elements) and that's all I remember...Borocks were bad, Toua were good. Sometimes, I liked to take apart the Toua piece by piece and make it look like they were incinerated :P

Yep. I loved Bionicles. It's too bad that they'd never made more movies. The first two were fantastic.

As for as Bionicles go, I didn't ever own a lot. I believe they were superceded by the current "Mindstorm" line, and to an extent, Ninjango.Always been a City person, myself.

Too bad. Bionicle displays an attention to detail within it's universe that pretty much blows any other original lego project out of the water. Also, I believe Mindstorms existed for years alongside Bionicle, which had actually been replaced by Hero Factory. Lego actually has had a lot of lines with elemental color-coded protagonists.

Pulse

October 4 1996 (17 Years Old)

Height:
5"8'

Weight:
160

Ebony

Eye Colour:
Brown

Appearance:
As for the face, I'd say Milo Ventimiglia. For the costume, I recommend that you imagine this version of Daredevil's costume, only without the arrows and instead of the signature 'DD' on his chest, imagine a scarlet outline of a heart.

Drake has relatively long, wavy hair that is often seen as black, unless under close observation, in which case it becomes completely visible as a hazel. He has a somewhat pointed chin and sharp features all around his face. He has a trim, but toned build that is from his practice of many frequent acrobatic feats. His costume is made of a red jumpsuit that clings tightly to his frame, giving hima nice range of motion by eliminating obstructions such as capes or the like, and it also has a mask made like a hood that hugs his face, coating it in red with shiny red contacts.

Abilities:

Skills and Talents:
He tends to think objectively and logically, preferring to see all of his options before he makes a definite choice, unless he firmly believes that there is only one good choice to make. He is a good delegator, able to identify problems and effectively troubleshoot solutions. As such, he has a talent for repairing things and touching up on mechanical issues. Whenever he can, he tries to plan ahead for the next important action, whether it be mechanical or interpersonal. His enjoyment of seeing what is possible leads to him testing his limits at all things, sometimes to a point where when it seems overly risky, but he treads with caution. He loves practicing parkour and has gotten quite good at it, constantly improving his agility and having a genuine appreciation for what he can do that others cannot. He has never been trained in any 'martial art', but he does have reflexes fast enough that, in combination with his altered perception of time, can make it appear he always knows what to do in combat situations. He is a talented speaker and has a deep voice that sounds like an adult, especially over a telephone, he often has doubts in his ability to lead, but he still tries to put his best foot forth when it comes to dealing with others.

Biography:

In 1996, Drake Castle was born to his father Tyler and his mother Meredith, a hard working couple in New Lilith that had already sired one child, an older boy named Vincent. His father was a successful car salesman, and his mother worked as a nurse. One year after Drake was born, his sister Cayse came into the world before his father had a vasectomy. Over the years, as Tyler climbed the ranks, he received promotion after promotion until he was finally given the coveted title of Manager. Through his career, he and his wife grew apart, and he distanced himself from his two children: Vincent and Drake.

When their parents weren't home, Drake effectively had the television as a babysitter. After watching one too many episodes of Naruto, he decided that he wanted to become a ninja. So, he went through a phase where he instantly reacted to everything with high-pitched cries and throwing things, swinging pillows like a pair of nunchakus. After constantly behaving like a maniac for his twelfth year of life, it carried over to the time he was thirteen, in which he became an adrenaline junkie, doing anything to avoid boredom, even stealing from stores. The nervousness that constantly emanated from him earned him the nickname Twitch, from his best friend Nathan, which has stuck to this day.

When1he was thirteen, life started to seem so much faster paced, it was more kinetic. When he grew excited, everyone else followed his example, whether they'd actually liked him, or not. It was around that time that everyone seemed to start having medical and psychological issues. His father had three heart attacks in a month due to living in a constant state of stress, but the doctors couldn't determine why.

At the age of fourteen, Drake began to attend the New Lilith Vocational Academy. Even there, everyone around him kept expressing great discomfort. Eventually, however, after listening to a speech on TedTalks about 'Good Vibrations', he realized that somehow he had an influence over the state of others. He spent the remainder of the year learning to control his influences over the body chemistry of others. Sometimes he'd try to tone it down, by meditating and soothing himself, other times he'd give someone feeling aggressive towards a bully an adrenaline rush. Over the summer, he held his course before starting his Sophomore year, where he spent mostly trying to live a normal life, though he did join the school newspaper. By the end of it, he even had a girlfriend, Amanda Archer.

It was at the beginning of his Junior year that Drake took a chemistry class taught again by Mr.Roth. One of his classmates was a literal genius, Simon Dellinger, a freshman with an incredibly gifted aptitude towards the sciences. He also figured out Drake's abilities rather quickly due to his particular interest in comic books and superhuman abilities. Rather than try to expose him though, Simon directly confronted him, giving him an ultimatum: Use his abilities for good as a superhero, or he'd reveal that for years Drake had been causing people massive heart problems. Drake chose to be a superhero, allowing Simon to develop the name he'd use, assign him targeted criminals to take down, and creating a costume, which Drake accepted with reluctance.

It was shortly after this, that Drake began job hunting. He found a job in The Bazaar district, at a gothic antique shop called The Lamp. It was there that he met Warren Whimer, who was reminded of himself as a boy bg Drake's lighthearted attitude during the interview. So, becoming his first employer, Warren gladly hired Drake as a salesman for The Lamp.

"I dunno about this, Simon."

"That's okay, Drake. That's why I make the decisions for our partnership."

By making the decisions for our partnership, he was referring to acting as my sidekick, telling me who to beat up and where. I never told him to make this. Looking at a crimson jumpsuit messily strewn across my bed, I tapped my foot and took a deep breath before uneasily rubbing the tip of my nose. There were a lot of reasons why I was friends with Simon Dellinger, one of them was because he was literally a genius and had been a huge help to honing my skills, I would never be as good at instilling fear without him. But when he did stuff like this... I'm forced to acknowledge that playing dress up with spandex and red contacts was not one of the reasons we became friends.

"It's very..." I had to search for the right word, then, hesitantly, I pronounced it slowly, saying "dramatic."

"You act like that's a bad thing?" He looked at me harshly. "Com'on, man. I do half the work in this partnership, I've gotta have some say in what image we strike into the hearts of evil-doers."

He had a point, but not a very good one. "If you mean you do half the work by telling me who to go beat up, then yeah. But I actually have to wear this. You don't," holding my breath, I waited for a response. "Can you see my dilemna?"

Instantly, he looked me in the eyes and narrowed his gaze, staring like he'd been stabbed. He threw his hands up and huffed, spreading his lips like he was about to say something, but quickly clamping them shut, effectively destroying the serenity that had been in my room.

"I asked you a question, Simon. Can you honestly see me wearing this?"

Throwing his hands back up and facing me once again, he went off like a bomb. "Yeah, I can see it. But ya' know one thing that bothers me about this? You don't actually want to be a hero, you just want to go out and beat up criminals, and not even criminals specifically. You just want the moral high-ground when you hospitalize someone and get away with it. You know what! Of course I can see you wearing this. Otherwise I wouldn't have actually designed it."

"But it's embarrassing. Can you see 'me' in this. I wouldn't ever--"

"That's the point, you self-righteous jerk! Superhero! Do you think people should be able to see you under the mask!"

With that, he turned and left, grimacing as he stepped out of my room. I'd never admit it, but he's right. And I probably will wear this, just because the devil you know is better than his next design. I see why he's angry, But he'll be back. I promise. He forgot that I'm his only ride home.
