I've been RPing on here on and off since I was 12 (fuck it's been awhile) on multiple accounts (I started this one when I was around 13), over that time, I've most certainly gotten better both as a writer and someone who's able to get into character. My favourite (and really only) types of RPs are NRPs because I feel like they play into my interests of politics, character creation, and historical contexts/world-building. My favourite settings are those stereotypical post-apocolypse dystopias that you would see the generic Young Adult book protagonist wander around, though I'm also open for Sci-Fi, Modern, and Historical settings. I'm not the biggest fan of Steampunk though, so it's slightly more difficult for me to get involved in those. When RPing, I prefer not to get involved into the stats side of things, as I'd much rather dive deep into the lore of both the setting I'm RPing with and the Characters/Nations I'm using for that RP in question. Now, for more about myself, I'm a massive fan of Music in general and a Singer. My favourite band changes what seems like weekly, though I'd say I'm a massive fan of Nine Inch Nails, Turnover, The Smashing Pumpkins, Foster The People, Weathers, and Smashmouth The Wombats. My favourite songs are probably Closer, by Nine Inch Nails, Knights of Cydonia, by Muse, BYOB, by System of a Down, Pumped up Kicks, by Foster The People and I Don't Wanna Know, by Weathers. My favourite games are NBA2k18 and Crusader Kings 2, though I'm also a fan of HOI4 (yay Kaiserreich) and EU4. Database of some RPs I've ran: Age of Rebirth (Post WW3) The original. Was a popular NRP for it's time but eventually died out. The Rise of Man (Fallout-like RP) The "sequel" to Age of Rebirth. Was quite interesting building off the history of an NRP that already happened to create a new one. Sollus Supremus (Dune-like Space Opera) I decided to venture out of my comfort zone a bit with this one, some really generic Space Opera. Age of Rebirth: The Rising Tide [Post-Apocolyptic NRP] Honestly my favourite one I've ever made, though that's most likely because I've become a better writer over the past 3 years, considering I'm no longer 13, like I was when I made Age of Rebirth.
I didn't know if you counted the inner part of the galaxy as part of the Scutum-Centaurus spiral, so it might be way too big.
Yes, I'm fine with it.
@MetalLoverwould you be fine with players collaborating and making alliances before the game proper starts?
I'm also okay with that.
@Fabulous Knight Haven't yet. Wasn't sure whether I wanted to make them some kind of posthuman offshoot or go full on alien.
I plan on writing in something about colonies (cause humans must have colonies) and probably adding them to the map so if you'd like to go and say that your race is just some failed experiment on one of the colonies I'd be fine.
@MetalLover, how enmeshed are we going to be? In Dune, and ASoIaF, and Mechwarrior and 40k and all that -- there's often organisations that transcend factions. For example, the navigators guild, or ComStar. Will we have playable organisations like that? The idea of a player working within every faction as a massive trade guild sounds pretty awesome.
I'm fine with some player working between all the factions.
@MetalLoversp, big boss man... can I sell you on the idea of an advanced technocracy that shifts power around based upon the merit of research being done. The inventor and current leading mind of FTL travel being the most infleuntial overseer currently within the system.
Like I said earlier in the OOC, as long as you are willing to right a longer description for your government type than those doing the feudal monarchy one than sure.
Homo-sapiens (Humans) Majority of the Males in the Kingdom of Sol stand at around 1.95 meters tall and weigh around 75 KG. The females typically stand at 1.8 meters tall and weigh around 65 KG. Majority of the populace in the Kingdom of Sol have blue eyes, a trait that eventually started to become the majority because of it being the desirable eye color for potential spouses. The typical hair color for humans is brown.
Area in the Galaxy
Technological Description
The Kingdom of Sol is mostly focused on colonization, they create gigantic ships named Tsarus to send colonists to the colonies. The Kingdom of Sol also has a large knowledge in genetic modification and genetic mutilation. Both of these typically take place on the different Experimental dominions. Dominion I and II are dedicated to Genetic Modification of Humans to try and advance the species past its current point, basically trying to begin artificial evolution. Dominion III is where majority of the Genetic Mutilation happens, in which Criminals (and sometimes just homeless people) are put through horrible genetic testings to try and find the longest and most painful way to hurt them and their eventual descendants, as Genetic Mutilation is meant to be a permanent thing that lasts forever throughout the families line.
History
30,000 years ago the first humans colonized the Moon. The United Republic of America began what would eventually shape the rest of human history. Mere days after the Russian colony of New Moscow was established, truly starting the Second Space Race.
The Second Russian Empire and the United Republic of America where the two strongest nations on Earth. The formally mighty PROC fell into a bunch of different nations and India was swallowed in Revolution. Majority of Europe was united as one, but still they where nothing compared against the two superpowers. The Empire of Istanbul was the third strongest nation, after the former nation of Turkey conquered Iraq and Syria they declared themselves a monarchy to try and recapture the once great lands of the Ottoman Empire. In response the Second Russian Empire declared war, stating that their expansionist policies where a threat to the whole world. The Empire of Istanbul (EoI) brought in the European's and American's because of their triple alliance. This would be the last major war fought between humans on Earth for the rest of time. Russian troops, after years of fighting, eventually encircled Istanbul, causing the 3 powers to Surrender.
After the war Russia forcibly split up the 3 nations, leaving them alone as the strongest. Just 10 years after this event the world voted to have one united Government, leaving the Second Russian Empire in control.
After this unification, the Russians turned their eyes to the stars. They colonized all of the solar system within 100 years and soon after they began terraforming. After this 300 year period between the Unification and the complete terraforming of the Solar System they began to try and find a way to break the Light Barrier.
The Empire of Earth(Prelude to the Kingdom of Sol) tried multiple ways to break the Light Barrier. They attempted Worm Holes, but got nothing but death for those trying to enter. They tried proto-drives and they got nothing but large radioactive explosions, but eventually, after another 100 years of testing, the Earth Empire of Earth found something.
The Empire of Earth's first out of Solar System colonies took years to create because of how hard it was to transport supplies from Earth to the planets in Alpha Centauri, but after they eventually pulled it off the rest of the colonization and terraforming was easy. Within a space of 1000 years the Kingdom of Sol (renamed after colonizing the first planet in Alpha Centauri) colonized all of Alpha Centauri and Sirius.
The last major conflict in Human history was the Sollus Civil War, in which liberty forces from Alpha Centauri and Sirius declared independence from the Kingdom of Sol. The war was a bloody fest that resulted in the death of Billions of people, but the Kingdom of Sol successfully defeated the Rebellion.
Since the long revolution the Kingdom of Sol has faced no large conflict except small planet wide rebellions. The Kingdom has colonized a much larger area than ever thought originally possible by humans before the discovery of FTl.
Government Description
The Kingdom of Sol is ruled by Solar King Dimitry Slavius. The Kingdom itself is divided into different Solar Duchies based upon the Solar systems under control of the Kingdom, with some Solar Dukes owning multiple Solar Systems. Solar Counts are the ones who own planets in the Solar Systems, with majority of the Counts owning multiple Planets. Lunar Baronies are divided into three different sections (Lunar Barons, Lunar Grand Master, and Lunar Priest), with all three owning moons for different purposes. Lunar Barons rule it like a generic feudal area, Lunar Grand Masters own them to train soldiers for holy orders or the Kingdom itself, and Lunar Priests own the moons for religious sites. The other large rank inside the Kingdom is the Sol Papacy, in which the Solar Pope controls the moon of Earth to be the Sistine Chapel of the Kingdom. Each of the Colonies are ruled by a governor, a person who is elected by the populace of the colonies. He is basically just a duke who rules for a total of 8 years before another election begins. The governor himself can appoint mayors who shall help rule the different solar systems in his colonies and the mayors can appoint councilors to rule over the planets and moons in their systems. Both the mayors and councilors only rule until the governor loses power, in which the new governor appoints new mayors who appoint new councilors. The Dominions are ruled by either Generals or Scientists appointed by the King. Dominions are used for larger places to train troops, large mock military invasions/training practices, or places to contain large experiments. The 3 Experimental outskirts of the Empire are used to hold the genetically created or modified creatures and genetically modified humans. Majority of the experiments are made to be put into the military or to be put into the workforce. The Lunar Darklands is where the successful experiments or those put into military training go and begin the second and third phases of training, in which they'll trained on the hellish planets and moons and eventually they'll be put on solar system wide mock-battles. Those who survive and graduate go on and join the actual army where they'll most likely be put into the colonial field or the outskirt planets of the Main Kingdom to try and scare the large neighbor below them to not invading.
Cultural/Religious Description
The Kingdom of Sol's culture is not what you'd expect from the Humans that originally lived on soul after 30,000 years of conquest and interbreeding of different peoples. The results of the Great War of Sol (The final conflict involving different nations on Earth) showed that the Second Russian Empire and their eventual successors would dominate the rest of human history after they managed to defeat the Western Alliance of the European Republic, United American Republic, and the Empire of Istanbul. Majority of the Kingdom of Sol follows Sol Chalcedonianism. The Orthodox, Catholic, Coptic, and the Church of England churches where reunited after the Great War of Sol because the newly reformed position of the Patriarch of Constantinople, the Patriarch of Kiev, The Pope, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, and the Archbishop decided to recreate the Pentarchy. You still see small Islamic Populations out in the areas that border the Revolutionary Kurtiye. Those who are still Islamic are typically descendants of Turks because the Russians allowed the Arabs to stay on Earth since majority of them decided to support the Second Empire. The Emperor shipped out majority of the Turks from their once mighty Empire of Istanbul into boats as colonizers of the lower areas.
@Fabulous Knight Indeed, it does seem as such. I'd imagine that political parties of their likes will be wanting to work with others, even if at some point they declare each other to not be remaining true to the principles of the ideology. But yes, I'd certainly be okay with some interaction with others, heh.
Not!Space Warsaw Pact confirmed?
By Dune-like I thought you plan to make this into Game of Thrones in space. Because kinda that's what Dune is like, IMO.
Pretty much.
Long leap between feudalism and communism.
I'd be willing to allow Communism in space, but anyone deviating from the classic Space feudal system will have to make a really good explanation about their government on the Nation Sheet.
Thanks mate, I'm currently deciding on what species I'd be, but would something similar to a warlike but otherwise poorly developed race be viable? Thinking something akin to a backwards but individually intimidating people that, while having working tech, do not have the same level of tech as the rest of the races, perhaps. Though of course, up to you, otherwise thanks for having me in!
I'm fine with almost anything as long as it isn't overpowered.
Hey there, I'd be rather interested in this, provided there are of course still spaces available.
Always open my friend!

Yes, but is this a post-scarcity setting? Shouldn't it be an Emperor and not a United Nations? I think I'm missing something...
I mean Dune-like as in its Feudal Space. No One Emperor rules over all of the Galaxy. Also, this is not through some scarcity on a Galaxy wide scale, though if your nation (or anyone who else makes a nation for that matter) wants to have a resource scarcity as a plot point for them then I'd be fine with it.
Still interested. But what is the plot/conflict? I'm not familiar with the NRP concept here on these forums-it seems to be a bunch of different characters that one person plays as?
Right off their won't be any major plot/conflict. This will most likely change by the 3rd or 4th post when one of these things typically happen. A. Someone Sets themselves up as the Big Bad Nation of the RP with some cruel ruler. B. Someone talks about major unrest in their nation C. Someone threatens war with another Nation D. Someone just randomly declares war on someone.
Muchly interested. A question on the BDO's though. Are you against any form of megastructure or vessel or just ones that exist to be the lazy plot device of the spooky nigh-unkillable doomsday machine? Would massive city-ships like Eldar Craftworlda from 40k be okay as their main purpose isn't to go around blasting planets and whatnot? Not a big deal to me either way just curious.
Yes, I am fine with Mega structures that are not just lazy plot devices. So things similar to what you mentioned are okay, but things like the Death Star or Starkiller base are not okay.
