I'm not rooting for Jaune, I just feel kinda bad for him. Only because I have a fair idea that no matter how hard he tries, he's gonna fail. It's sad to see a guy put in so much effort to something you know won't be happening.

Then again, this is an anime, and I've been tricked about that sort of thing before, so it shows what I know.

Was that ever a serious question? I wasn't aware.

And I would tend to disagree. Sure, her Semblance may be a big advantage, but knowing how to fight is just as important as being physically strong. Otherwise, you might as well say that, for example, that Sonic would be useless if it weren't for his speed, or that Cyclops would be useless if it weren't for his eye laser. Does she run the risk of having an over reliance on her Semblance? Yes. But at the same time, she has the quick thinking and smarts to use both her semblance and weapons effectively in a fight to win. She had to have had something besides a cool ability to win the Mistral tournament, presumably, so that shows that she has some other traits that must make her the kind of fighter we've been hearing about,

I dunno, just my piece. Agree or not if you want.
Tai looked up to the hill that Robert had pointed out and nodded in agreement. "Sure." It seemed as good an idea as any other they could present, and getting some sight on the nearby terrain would be useful, given the wide swathes of red that currently surrounded them. As they walked, he noted the Sitting Bulls nearby, but none were close enough to be a threat, and apparently hadn't noticed them, so he paid them no real mind for the moment.

At Robert's comment on the mountain, Tai glanced back to look at it as well, impressed by the scale. "Yeah," he agreed succinctly, before his attention returned to the path ahead while Robert commented on the lack of Grimm killing for him all day. He shrugged in response to the question. "They would if they wanted to test us on our ability to fight together, rather than just basic pathfinding skills. So I would say it's likely." It wouldn't be much of a test otherwise.
Taken a bit by surprise, Alex was quick to respond to her words, grateful for them and glad for the respect that Asgard seemed to have for him, his his devotion to the cause and in the way his actions distinguished the Justicars. "Thank you ma'am," he replied with as much a nod as he could manage. Well, it seemed that this situation would soon be under control, if Asgard herself was willing to get involved. Good luck to Carton now. He would need it to escape the head of the Justicars and Alex himself. With the assets they had, there would be no place in the world he could hide.

He wasn't sure how to take her statement when he finished his story, if he should be worried for his current employment status or not, since her tone didn't indicate whether she approved of what he was saying or not. He certainly hoped so, but if not, then he would just live as he could and try to find work elsewhere, maybe become a private detective or something. To be hones the hadn't really thought out what he would do if he wasn't working for the Ultimatum.

Still, he seemed to have sparked something as Asgard got a distant look in her eye, ignoring him entirely as if reliving some past memory, sparking his concern and wondering what was going on. He waited for a good ten count before speaking up. "Um, Ma'am," he said with a cough. "Are you alright? You seem distracted."

Yes, I will agree, Phyrra kicks butt. But then again, we knew that she did this entire time. You know, winner of the Mistral Tournament or what have you and all that. This is just the first real chance we get to see it in a solo setting against things that aren't Grimm. So, worth it,

Jaune gets shot down, funny, but expected. Denied ship is still denied, obvious attraction is denied, nobody can figure out who the hell the story wants them to be with ;p
"Ah," Tai replied simply with a nod. So, a variant on a gunblade then. That was interesting, in terms of combat applications, though not being able to stab something and shoot it at the same time had to be a bit of a drawback. Then again, all it really required was a different fighting style, and somehow Robert was still alive using it, so it seemed to work for him. Well then, that would be interesting to see how their combat styles would match up.

Just as he finished speaking, they emerged from the forest into a large prairie, and surprisingly Tai thought much the same thing as Robert did, making them both Masters of the Obvious. Coming to a momentary stop, he scanned the area with a careful eye to detail, looking to see if he could locate something that would show where the artifacts they were here to retrieve where, if it was indeed in this location. "I don't suppose you see any sign of the Artifacts," he asked, unsure as to the direction they should head next.
Thomas was about to get into the good bit of removing his frustration when he was suddenly brought short by an interloper, Turbo destroyed before he could even register an attack occurring. He was, however, able to register the condescending tone of the person speaking to him, and he quickly sought out where the voice was coming from, which appeared to be a cloaked figure in a tree above him, chewing on a candy cane. At least for a bit, until he vaulted to the ground.

"I had it under control," Thomas pointed out, this time most likely correctly, though there was no way to know for sure now that Turbo had been dealt with in so rapid a fashion. He squared off against the newcomer, keeping off his face as best he could the gut instinct reaction he had to the person's accusations. Keyblade at the ready, blade wavy with the bent light of the black hole spell on it, he eyes the man with evident distrust. "Who are you and why should I tell you anything," he asked defiantly in return. He had a feeling that this was not a 'good guy' ,given that he went around with an enchanted cloak to hide his face and all.
"Alright," Tai replied, accepting that answer for what it was. If there were other reasons, then Tai would leave that alone. Unless it became a problem, he was willing to let his partner be as revealing or not as he wanted. Tai was willing to trust that Robert would tell him when he felt like it, and Tai was willing to wait until then if it actually mattered.

Asked about his weapon, Tai nodded, presenting the meteor hammer in it's barbell form to Robert. "It's a meteor hammer, a traditional weapon as it were," he explained, laying it horizontal and unlocking the two sides, the heads spitting out to slam into trees nearby, spikes gouging at wood. He then unlocked the middle handle which had shrunk in the process, so he held two chains, each with one head, like a flail. "It also lights on fire," he added, before proceeding to show that off by having one of the spiked heads catch ablaze courtesy of fire dust after he removed it from the tree.

Demonstration done, he quickly reassembled his weapon and returned it to his belt before looking over to his partner. 'And what about yours? I imagine it must have a few tricks."
Unknowing of his companions thoughts, Ba'al found himself wearying a bit of this trek as they ascended, the air chilling around them, though that was of little concern to the Goa'uld. Such temperature differences were beneath his notice at best, at least when it was a temperature such as this. The changing of the path was more annoying, making their ascent all the more difficult with switchbacks and increasing inclines. It was like the terrain itself was deliberately trying to spite them. And without assistance from the skies, it made it that much harder to see potential foes.

Fortunately, or not, it seemed that this test would do that work for them. A shadow fell on the two of them from above, blocking out the mid morning sun. Ba'al looked up to see a large blue dragon looking at them in turn in a way that didn't exactly give him comfort. Well, that was either the dragon they were looking for, or something like whatever was in the forest. It certainly seemed strong, and also seemed to be gathering an entourage of bugs or something around it.

"Well, that doesn't look pleasant," he commented as he raised his zat into a ready position, though if this thing was based around electricity then it wouldn't work as well. Still he advanced though, planning to get up as far as he could before it attacked, without provoking it, or at least so they could reach some advantageous terrain, as he noticed Sorin gathering a ball of energy in his hand or something.
Tai, for his part, didn't pay much attention to Robert or what he was doing, certainly not enough to see him talking silently to a rock. His own attention was focused on their surroundings and making sure they weren't ambushed, and at the same time appreciating the natural beauty of Forever Fall. A pity the place was a hive of Grimm activity. Otherwise he might want to spend some more time here, maybe do some painting. Oh well.

His attention diverted by Robert's question, he looked over to his partner, crafting a response before he gave an answer. "I wanted to help people, to stand against the darkness so someone else wouldn't have to." It wasn't quite some traumatic backstory involving Grimm and slaughtered villages, but it was what made him him. "And yourself?"
