@BurningCold OH, yeah, that shit's gone right out the window.

You may now create NPCs, my good sir.
@BurningCold Perhaps, but science and space will have a pretty big impact on the plot, I promise. There will be some sort of dangerous antagonist, after all.. and this is a sci-fi RP, after all.. That's about as much of a hint as I want to give. Oh, and I'll say that I hid some clues in the Roleplay's intro on the OP.

I have a certain profession in mind who would be the survivor in a predictable run of the first act, but the way that they survive could possibly be done by any or most of the characters -- so it really isn't predetermined. Additionally, someone could live by doing something I totally didn't expect. I'm very flexible in how this develops.

@User BurningCold does have a point, I was going to announce when I would start looking for NPC characters. Ironically, though, I was going to do that tonight. So it's not too big of a deal.

But yeah -- if you have ideas for NPCs to fill the slots, I'd appreciate it. Just please don't do one for the Pilot or the Gov't Official (just yet anyway, I want to wait and see if people wish to fill those roles).
@DeepestApology Now, don't be pessimistic -- someone might survive! Really, I have the path I expect the roleplay to go already laid out (I'm not going to do much to influence that -- it's all on how you and your characters approach the situations). Under that path, everyone dies except for one. Depending on what happens, more people could survive, or everyone could be wiped out.

I guess this is as much of an experiment as it is a roleplay; I want to see how people react to a situation with their characters when given different starting information and different expectations.
@Starlance Daniel is accepted! Please add the CS to the Characters page when you get the chance
@User Looks good so far -- just remember that the UN doesn't actually exist, I think you were looking for the EU. Also you may want to just run your post through spell check to pick up typos and such -- I have to do the same, or else I miss a bunch of errors in my writing. Microsoft Word or Google Docs (which is free) both have good versions of this.
To all: I'm also going to start sending out Mission Dossiers to all accepted characters in preperation for the IC. As I said before, your dossier (and possibly your mission) will be different depending on your profession.
@User This may be true in modern terms, but when artificial gravity is considered, the differences would be negligible. This would be totally unknown to everyone because I haven't yet made the technology update to the OP, but the BASS station, the Willman Lab and every colony on every planet exists inside artificial constructs built on the planet, rather than on the surface itself. As complete terraforming has yet to be developed to the point where a habitable planet can be created from an inhospitable one, the best that humanity can do is build interconnected structures with simulated gravity and circulated oxygen. Each colony is equipped with a gravity simulator which acts or counteracts the natural gravity of the planet to various degrees so as to simulate Earth's gravity to the best of its ability. This is why planets with crushing gravity can not currently be colonized -- the machines can not counteract the effects of the planet enough to allow humans to live there. Ships, likewise, also have miniature versions of these gravity simulators, which allow the ship to maintain a gravity similar to that of Earth while in space.

@DeepestApology To be honest, until now I was content to just ignore special relativity entirely, because to include it would complicate things too much (i.e. having younger relatives end up being older, and such). If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd certainly like to hear them!

Oh, also, to those who are very patiently waiting on said technology update, I'm working on it as we speak and will be uploading it sometime today. The political section is also in the works, but I'll get that done after I get the tech section done.
@DeepestApology Yep! By all means, go for it.

Also, for transparency's sake, here's my own CS:

@Kaiachi You're accepted! Erin sounds like a wonderful addition to the group. Feel free to move the CS to the Character tab!

Oh, and to all, just to avoid any confusion -- DeepestApology's character was also accepted, they PMed me the CS rather than posting it here.
@BurningCold No, I understand that! That just wasn't what I had intended that section to be. However I realize now that what I did intend was far too confusing, so I've scrapped it from the Character Sheet altogether in favor of what you had on yours.

I see how your interpretation would view that as an issue -- it is quite easy to interpret it that way, which is why I asked for more depth in the revision.

Of course I'm always open to opinions and new ideas here, but I do just want to make sure it remains civil; I've seen a lot of good roleplays fall apart due to internal arguments, and a lot of times the people in question just interpret something as harsher than the poster meant it. It's nobody's fault really, I'd just rather this RP not implode, or at least to wait until the IC starts
