This is asking for an RP in which the Southend-on-Sea furniture bots battle for control with the Korean casino bots, in an ultimate struggle that will destroy the world.

Is it sad that I bought a 10yo Netbook from Ebay with the sole intent of using it just to write my RP posts?

Sea Gorillas are not a "personal" issue, and affect the entirety of mankind. It's morons like you that prevent social and cultural progress.

Also, forgot to say something in my last post.
This is a way to make sure no tribal uprisings happen, by thoroughly conquering them, if not you'll just end up like the Europeans in the Americas who faced uprisings for a while.

And this will be the biggest focal point of my nation, in that Normandy is too small to occupy everything, and will rely heavily on those conquered to assimilate themselves.

Once I get myself a few more regions, I'll invent a system to randomly generate revolts, or you yourself can just say, "Ya know what, f**K Frengo. Paris just revolted." "Awww but" "NO, no, Paris is gone." ":(" ":)"

I'm easy. Will be more interested in the content of my posts and having fun, than the overarching strategical situation. I mean, this isn't Risk... is it?
@MetalLoverQuick qestion: how does expansion/colonization work? Do you just say "I own dis nao" on the map until you get into a fight with someone else over a chunk of land?

I'm going to use Empire Total War to play mock-battles in place of any mechanics, scaling the forces involved to what my posts say. Wont be perfect, but it will stop me from accidentally releasing OP goo over everything. Unless of course I particularly want/need an area for the story's sake.

So in this first battle, I'm going to go up against a full deck of militia based units with a quarter of decent troops.

I'll post the numbers (casualties) in my posts where battles have taken place, and the posts themselves will reflect how the battle went.

Of course this could be a disaster, but we'll see :P

EDIT: the above will only apply to NPC encounters. Player battles will be resolved ahead of time by mutual agreement either in the OOC or PMs. I think that's the best way to go.
@Iluvatar
I'm just waiting for a descendant of Nigel Farage to appear.
That would be funny.

It's perfectly feasible.

His Majesty's Governorate of Normandy

Province of the Kingdom of Great Britain

Operation: French Lion

Phase One

After weeks of preparation and military build up along Normandy's western borders, the forces of the British Governorate are committing themselves to a fully fledged ground invasion of neighboring Brittany. This has resulted from failed diplomatic attempts to bring the former French province under the banner of Great Britain peacefully, and now the Viceroy of Normandy has been given full approval to use forceful means.

The Operation, code named French Lion, has opened up with a dazzling artillery barrage of a hundred guns that are pummeling the Brittany borderlands, where British intelligence has revealed there to be a sizable build up of Brittans.

Brittany is a small self-proclaimed Republic, rooted heavily in the old French political system. However, a passive-aggressive Norman-led trade embargo on the small nation has left its people starving and with its economy on the verge of collapse, setting the scene for widespread civil revolt against the Government.

07:00, Norman/Brittan border.

Operation: French Lion +1 Hour

"They wont break," Lieutenant‑Colonel Thomas King muttered, spying the distant explosions from the safety of his entrenched concrete bunker. "Even with things as bad as they are, they wont break. Amazing, really."

Commandant Éric Blaise coughed to clear his throat, and moved over the Lieutenant-Colonel's right shoulder. The Commandant was immaculately dressed in a French take on the British combat fatigue, and his face boasted an annoyingly poignant goatee. "les français ne rompent jamais , colonel."

Thomas rolled his eyes but refused to face his subordinate, "Jenkins, translate if you'd be so kind."

Major Jenkins looked up from his maps at a nearby table, a pewter mug of whiskey in his hand. "The French never break."

Thomas bawked, and let fly a laugh. Éric furrowed his brow, and the Lieutenant‑Colonel composed himself in response. "Sorry old chap, no hard feelings of course." He was tempted to berate the Norman over his country's apparent surrender to the British kingdom a year ago, but regained his wits before he could fan the flames.

"I understand, Colonel," Éric replied in accented English.

The Lieutenant‑Colonel lowered his binoculars, and gave the Commandant a raise of his eyebrow. "I knew you could speak the Kings, good on you."

Major Jenkins pushed his chair forcefully out from the table, its legs scraping across the floor, in an attempt to break the tension. The Lieutenant‑Colonel and Commandant turned to him. "It's time gentlemen, the barrage has reached the sixtieth minute," Jenkins said, holding up an old silver watch.

"Excellent," said Thomas with a nod, "Okay then, let's see what your lads can do, Mr. Blaise."

"With pleasure, sir," the Norman replied. With a stiff salute, he left the entrenched command center and headed off to give the go-ahead to his unit commanders.

Whilst the British were present, it would be the Normans who would bear the brunt of this fight. Over ten thousand of them, backed up by light support vehicles, and decked out in the latest British weaponry, would be descending onto the Brittan positions momentarily. It was the first test of the Norman Powerhouse Treaty; had a year of rapid modernization brought their Norman jewel up to standard?

As radio traffic started to hiss from a nearby bank of terminals, Thomas could only guess.

The First Phase of Operation French Lion concerned the elimination of two sizable formations of Brittan's army, and the subsequent capture of Fougeres.

Phase Two would hopefully see the general collapse and retreat of Brittan resistance, where they would be obliterated in a quick siege at St-Malo and Vitre.

Phase Three would bring the 1st and 2nd Cherbourg Regiments encircling Rennes, and by this time it was hoped by Viceroy Keele that the Brittans would sue for peace, once they had seen the unstoppable and lighting advance of the Norman army.

An unannounced Phase Four would see the deployment of a B.E.F (British Expeditionary Force) regiment in case the Normans would be fought back, or to a standstill.
I'm announcing that the IC is officially postable in now, so if you guys who haven't finished their app are here at the moment make sure to finish it soon.

I'm going to put in a post.

This is my first ever nation RP (well, of this kind anyway), so if I've totally mucked it up, just say so and I'll retract/edit it.
@MetalLover Yeah that's cool.

From small beginnings come great things, and all that jazz.

Thanks!
@MetalLover

Sorry to be a pain, but I only have Normandy (1 region). I know I put "Normandy, North France" so I see where the confusion came in.

Here's what I actually have:

His Majesty's Governorate of Normandy

Province of the Kingdom of Great Britain

What Areas Do You Control (Territories):

Normandy

Political Party (What Party leads the Nation):

British Military Governorate, headed by Viceroy Edgar Keele.

The Normany Provisional Government, headed by President Basile Maurice.

Type of Government (Self Explanatory):

The British Military Governorate is a military government with full control over Normandy's security forces and foreign policy, often acting in accordance with the British Crown. A Viceroy heads the Governorate, and is able to exercise much freedom outside of the protocols, procedures and aims set forth by his superiors in London. However, ultimately he can be recalled and changed by the British government, and so the Viceroy usually follows their orders to the letter.

The Normandy Provisional Government is a civilian institution, based on Great Britain's parliament system, which deals with the country's domestic affairs. However, the British Viceroy withholds the right to veto any laws that he see's a problem with.

Date Out of Bunker:

2260

Productions (What your nation Produces):

Normandy is an international center of genetically engineered crops, and has successfully created a wide range of breeds that are better able to cope with the post-war atmosphere and battered terrain than traditional or lesser developed alternatives.

History of the Nation (Self Explanatory):

With the world on the brink of mutually assured destruction, the unity of France was fractured by a wide skew of politicians who sought to protect themselves from the inevitable. Civil unrest broke out across the nation, leading to large uprising against government forces, which ultimately led to the Fall of France before the bombs had even struck Paris.

In the chaos, the French President relinquished his power to the military. The commanders of France's armed forces realized that there could be no victory in a nuclear war, and instead focused their efforts on evacuating the population to all of the designated "Post-War Survival Centres" that were dotted along the country's extremities.

One such centre was located in Normandy, fifty miles south of Cherbourg. Approximately 45,000 civilians were successfully evacuated to the massive underground complex, but France was finally struck by a nuclear barrage, and the surface world became an inferno.

For 200 years, the survivors lived in relative safety. They turned their efforts towards engineering food sources that could withstand the scarred world that would great them, and shunned the idea of developing weapons as a waste of resources.

Hadn't the world seen enough carnage?

When the survivors left the bunker, after external scanners revealed the atmosphere to be habitable, they were proved bitterly wrong. France was overrun by a multitude of peoples, who had gotten to the surface earlier than them from the other bunkers across the country. Hostilities ensued, despite efforts at diplomacy; the Normandy faction had secured their demise however, after letting slip information about their advanced food crops. These crops became the treasure chest that the whole of France wanted, and war erupted.

Out numbered and lacking heavily in military hardware, the Normans (as they had taken to calling themselves), reached out to an established survivor colony in England, that they had detected via their bunker's long ranged transmitter.

The British Government agreed to help, and rapidly deployed forces from across the channel. More organized, better funded and with superior training, the British forces were able to drive all hostile groups from Normandy and secure the survival of the Normans. In return, the Normans surrendered their genetic crop research over to the British, and agreed to one-sided trade deals that saw the bulk of the Norman food surplus being turned over to the British Crown on an indefinite annual basis.

With British assistance, the Normans were able to rapidly industrialse their infrastructure, and spread out across the whole of Normandy. From time to time, the various French factions attempted to crush the infant nation, but the British were always close at hand to lend support - unwilling to lose their newly found breadbasket.

In the year 2279, April 15th, the British and Norman governments signed the "Norman Powerhouse Treaty", that saw the dismantling of Norman civil institutions in favor of a British-based framework. A viceroy was ellected to safeguard Normandy, and a provisional Norman government established to run domestic affairs. Initially, nationalist uprisings and coups took place, but these were pitifully small and ill planned, resulting in their almost immediate defeats.

By 2280, the British military have reshaped their Norman counterpart in their imagine, providing the bulk of weapons and training to the country's native forces. Normandy has now become a fully functional defacto British fortress on the French coast.

However, not all is well, as the continuation of the harsh trade terms negotiated twenty years ago are preventing the Norman economy from realizing its true potential, and the lower classes are suffering the brunt of this. The streets of Normandy's major cities are patrolled daily by both Norman and British soldiers, with the Viceroy planning on nipping any signs of disorder in the bud.

Nationalism is steadily growing, with many Normans feeling that the terms of the Norman Powerhouse Treaty are bitterly unfair, and aim only to serve the British, as opposed to the Normans themselves. However, on the other side of this, are the Loyalists, who see continued British influence as only a good thing, as it further increases security and betters the Normandy infrastructure.

Regardless of the internal strife, the Viceroy of Normandy sees himself in a position to extend the Crown's borders, and looks at a divided France as the perfect ground onto which he will test his "colonial" army.

How's this?

I changed it into a British semi-colony, I hope that's not a problem.
