"Write drunk, edit sober," is a viable strategy until you realize anything you write just divulges into offbeat ramblings.

It was a miracle Wimena got any sleep at all, after the prior events. The night passed quickly in a dreamless haze. It wasn't until a beam of light hit the halfling's eyes that she did wake.

The young women followed the others outside, her eyes widening at the deep grooves left by the creature's claws. Her hand instantly went to the knife Rockmar had given her. If it weren't for her fellow crew member's aid, Wimena was certain that the creature would have left more than just scratches. She quickened her pace as to not get left behind and fell into step beside a woman that looked to be gliding. No...she didn't look like she was floating, the woman was floating! Wimena blinked in surprise before giving her a small, greeting smile.

"I'm glad no one was hurt last night," she said, her eyes flickering over to the little girl from before, Edith, as she hurried to her parents. She watched Eve talk to her family before coming back with news on the beast. "North..." she mused to herself. Turning to the constable, she asked, "What is to the north? Is that where the shepherd was first killed?"
It wasn't until the beast was gone did Wimenda realize she was holding her breath. With a shaky sigh, she lowered her blade and allowed a a hint of relief. It was barely one night, yet Winena felt like her heart was close to exploding. It was hard to imagine an entire three weeks of this.
Glancing around, Wimena noticed the elf from before holding a strange black object. "What's that?" she asked as her fear gradually ebbed away.
To be fair, I'd want to relieve myself too if I saw that thing poking around outside.

"They what?!" Marcella stared at Max, the familiar feeling of helplessness pooling in her chest. She wanted to help him. Wanted to stop these people, whoever they were, or at least find the right words to say. Yet the resigned look on Maxwell's face was enough to tell her that it would all be in vain. The Italian sighed and shook her head. "At least promise me that you'll be alright..."
Wimena gave Rockmar's a grateful nod and took the blade. It's weight felt heavy and awkward in her inexperienced grip, yet she held onto it like her life depended on it. Probably because it did.
Her eyes scanned the walls nervously before flickering towards the Constable. "How long will this last?" she asked in a hushed tone.
Wimena barely complained as the Half-Orc moved her back. Her hand quickly went to the pouch on her side, settling onto a small dagger. 'Dagger' being used generously. It was a simple, rusted blade, more suited to chopping carrots than hellhounds, but it was the only weapon the halfling thought to bring along. That and her small, quick feet, of course. A battle song filled the air, filling Wimena with a sense of readiness as she stared at the thundering door.

You're telling me lol.
The halfling's listened to the Constable's tale with a mix of awe and horror. If this beast was capable of killing so many people in a span of a few weeks, it was no wonder these people were so terrified. "We'll try our best to help you," Wimena spoke up with a surprising amount of bravado. She was scared of this Beast, yes, but she knew what it was like to feel trapped and threatened. Never would she wish the same to another. "This creature...it has to have a weakness of some kind, or perhaps some place it returns to."
