Kay nodded and made a simple 'mhm' sound in agreement at John's assumption as it did seem to be the most plausible. In some way, Kay actually envied Serena having the ability to just fall asleep quickly, as she herself never could, or very rarely could because she had trained her mind to always be on alert for dangers.

---

The drive back took a good hour longer than the day before going to Seattle as they hit traffic on the second leg of the journey after doing a pit stop so Kay could stretch her legs and get some food and something to drink. Other than that need, she actually realised how much she missed driving and didn't mind it, even if the traffic and poor drivers irritated her to an amusing level for others.

Instead of going straight back to John's, she headed to Chas' so they could reunite with Josh and Trish, figuring Serena would wanna see them as soon as possible.
Holy crap dude!!!! I'm glad you're back home and still alive! Hope the police got the bastard and add what they did to you to their charges.
Even now, Kay couldn't help but feel like John gave her more credit than she deserved but that's just because of the type of person she was. When he mentioned about Serena having fallen asleep in the back, she couldn't help but glance back at her and smile softly. "that girl surely knows how to fall asleep quickly. She deserves the rest though, I say we'll only wake her if we stop for a pitstop somewhere" she replied, eyes bsck on the road, glad to finally get out of the city traffic and onto the highway.
MIKA CHAMBERS

When Mika said her suggested to Cason, she didn't intend it to sound as friendly as it came across to Dean, and she didn't realise it was sounding that friendly until he looked at her and rose his eyesbrows. She hated that Cason was being difficult when it came to telling them the information they desperately needed but she refused to let her irritation at it show on the outside. Now wasn't the time at all to show irritation to Cason and give him more ammo to possibly use against them (or more precisely Dean) than he already had.

She was ready to just leave the conversation where it was, but then came the last three words from Cason to her that she knew would just tip Dean over the edge slightly and mentally she groaned whilst bracing herself for what it was to come next. Dean's possessiveness of her had ever disappeared, just as hers hadn't left over him, even if they were always trying to get a grip on that trait and be better with each other, she knew it didn't take much to make Dean fall back into that trait and Cason just did exactly that....triggered the posessiveness.

Luckily for Mika she was almost sadly used to Dean grabbed her arm in such a manner that she learned to not show the discomfort it always brought when he did so and dragged her to their room. She was glad that he let go of her arm to check on his phone to see the text from Sam. Whilst he checked the phone and told her that the others were on their way, she used that opportunity to kick her heels off and sat on the end of the bed, lifting one foot up at a time to rub the balls of her feet.

"Good, but Dean? There really was no need to drag me to the room like that. You know I'm yours and your's alone" she told him, not wanting to just let her thoughts on his posessiveness fester unspoken. "i'm sorry if anything I said to him upset you though, I was just trying to get us away from him quickly but calmly" she apologised and reasoned. She hoped it would help calm him down again but she knew she couldn't be always 100% certain when it came to Dean, just as she knew people couldn't always be 100% certain it'd be easy to calm and bring her round to reason. Not only that she knew it was possible he wouldn't even want to talk about what just went on outside, as well as that it could only be worse for him because he wasn't around for four months.

NATALIA AND SAM WINCHESTER

Natalia and Sam got out of the car in unison, a consequence of having done the action so many times since she became part of the family properly and out on hunts with him. Out of the car, they watched Cason head straight to Annabeth and hug her tightly before placing a very firm kiss on ehr head. Sam gritted his teeth so hard that he felt his jaw locking up and it was only when Nat gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder that he eased up. She honestly understood why he was getting uptight over the exchange, it was clear to her just how much Sam was glad that Annabeth was back in his life and how rapidly his old childhood crush was coming back to him.

Annabeth being able to reply to Cason however without giving him any opening to get even closer or letting her guard drop around him was admirable to both Natalia and Sam. Nat actually got a wave of pride for the woman for verbally keeping Cason at bay. She certainly didn't trust demons and Cason was of no exception in her eyes. She accepted he had been useful and helpful the last couple of days but she also knew she had spent a good chunk of her life thinking the doctors in that damn hospital were nice to her when they were demons all along. Yet at the same time she was surprised that Annabeth asked Cason how he was, but then her brain kicked back into gear and remembered just how long the woman had been with Cason before being reunited with her brother.

Sam rolled his eyes at Cason being an utter smartass but when gestured to come over, he did move. "what information have you stumbled upon?" he asked Cason, wrapping one arm round Annabeth's waist. Nat followed Sam over and folded her arms across her chest, she remained silent but she knew she could say a lot of things to Cason if she so much as opened her mouth. Part of her also wanted to go check on Mika and Dean, but she also didn't want to leave Annabeth and Sam alone with Cason, so staying put is what she did.

Feeling John's hand on her own made her glance at him and nod, smiling slightly, "I know, but that makes it so much harder to leave this time. Last time I was so focused on getting out of our dorm room alive, I didn't think about anyone else, let alone her. Now I've got her back in her life? It's harder to leave, even though I need to" she explained to John, before continuing on to reply to Serena.

"and yeah, it does feel like forever, but no doubt they had a much calmer time than we did" she smiled softly, glancing at Serena through the rear view mirror before bsck at the road in front of her. "I couldn't have done this without you both though, I'm always going to be grateful to you both for this" she added.
Sam saw them out and stayed by the front door as she watched Kay and John pack the car and nodded at Serena's words. Kay walked round to the driver's side, made sure there were no cars coming before opening the door and getting inside. She put the key in the ignition but waited for the other two before she started the car up.

When they were both ready and in, she then started the car and when it was clear, she pulled away from Sam's house, seeing in her rear view mirror that Sam was waving them goodbye as they pulled away. Kay sighed as she gripped the steering wheel, finding that just like before it was incredibly hard to leave her sister behind, in fact for her it was almost harder this time because she wasn't running for her life this time.
As John grabbed the bags, Kay picked up her box of stuff again, putting the photos back in and gave her sister one more hug briefly before grabbing her hooded jacket to pull out the car key. She let Serena speak to Sam as she headed toward the front door.

Sam took the black card from Serena and nodded, "thank you, and you take care of yourself okay?" she replied to her, still thinking about them more than herself. "I hope you have a smooth journey back" she added, giving Serena a hug goodbye.
"I know, I guess I'm just gonna worry a lot again." Sam said sheepishly, "but I know you both have proven more than tenfold that she's safe with you both and you're both safe with her." she added, making Kay give her sister a reassuring squeeze of the shoulder. "I'll keep in touch and don't worry, if we need anything we'll call" she told Sam which seemed to put her at ease just that bit more.

Kay then looked at both John and Serena, "i'm ready to get driving if you two are, if we can avoid Seattle's busy peak on the roads I'll be happy. I don't fancy being stuck in traffic for hours just getting out of the city" she commented to the both of them. She didn't want to rush either of them, but she didn't want to risk anyone coming here again for either of them.
Kay had no problem with Serena also coming over to read the message on the inside of the lid, nodding at what they were theorising, even though she found it baffling at Joe it could have appeared there when her mother was dead. "I guess it's yet another thing to figure out when we get home" she told them both.

She closed the little necklace box again, deciding she would put it on when they got home just incase it was enchanted somehow. She wanted to be somewhere safer and magically guarded so if it something did happen, John and Serena would be able to do so much more for her than being at Sam's. She looked up at Sam, "thank you for this, and for keeping it safe for so long. It means more to me than you could know Sam."she told her, handing the whole shoebox to John, as he had the Polaroid photos still, stood up and hugged Sam tightly.

"Kay, you're my sister, there was no way I was going to let this stuff go missing in any shape or form. I love you" Sam replied hugging her back protectively. From over Kay's shoulder, Sam looked at both John and Serena with a look that said 'keep her safe please' even though she knew they would. She eventually let go of Kay with a pat on her arms and smiled at her comfortingly. "you're gonna be just fine Kay. I just hope you figure everything out you need to, and if any of you need anything don't hesitate to give me a call" Sam added.
"it's an collection of my stuff from when I was younger..." Kay said, trying to hold her emotions in check. She first pulled out some old Polaroids of her and Sam when they were around 15 years old. Sam didn't look much different, still with the long brown hair, skinny jeans and fitted tshirt that she made just a bit shorter in length so it was somewhere between a cropped top and full length top and a cropped fitted denim jacket. Kay looked every but of a typical fifteen year old, hair was tied into a messy ponytail, straggly whispy bits of hair framing her face, two paintbrushes sticking out of her ponytail in an 'X' formation and dark eyeliner on her face.

Her clothing wasn't much different to what she wore nowadays, except this time it was baggy ripped at the knees jeans, converse and a fitted Nirvana tshirt that had paint splodges on it. Looking back at the photo, a smile appeared on her face as she remembered the day it was taken. Yet she didn't focus on the photos for too long as she noticed things in the box from her real childhood with her biological mother. A photo of herself no older than 7 years of age, smiling broadly as she's playing the piano with her mother, legs swinging back and forth. Looking every bit of a mini version of her mother. "I... I never thought I'd see these again" she said, trying to hold it together more.

Handing John the photo, she found a small box inside the shoebox that she shakily lifted up and opened, finding a necklace inside of a circular pendant with a phoenix emblem on it, all hanging from a leather throng. A small note stuck to the inside of the box reading-

'my little flamebird
When the time arises,
you'll find your destiny,
With these keys, our kind will be free'

Reading the note, she barely remembered ever seeing it before. "I... Don't recall this note being in here before.." she commented, showing John to see if he could work anything out from the clue left to her.

Sam leaned over and looked, "there never used to be a note in the box." she confirmed.
