It looks good to me, no worries. :3

I'll get something up tonight or tomorrow.
@Everyone: Woo! Three posts in under 24 hours. That's pretty awesome for a start! :3

@Kaga: Good to know, there really should be more variety with companions in new who, I'm quite bored of females from the UK at this point. Or "special" plot point characters...heh.

If I'd recommend anything right now, it would be Orphan Black. It's a great series on BBC America and I'm sure you could stream it online somewhere. Tatiana is a very talented actress and if you're not too nit picky and enjoy science fiction meets clones in a modern time with crazy religious folk, it would be a fun a ride. It's got two seasons out and was definitely the best show I watched/discovered in 2013.

@Milieu: I don't think an Earth plant could become like Groot. However, should your guy pick up other plants on other planets, there could surely be some kind of plant-human ish life that could develop that way. I mean DW had Chime (I think, I'm too lazy to go to the wiki) and their species were tree based...

@Viridity: I don't think so. I looked in the link to see if it was tied to a fandom (I'd try to avoid them) but I don't recall seeing anything about it. :/

Before I do anything constructive, I would just like to say that I love the look of the ship at the top of the first IC post. :3

Thanks, it was a bitch to render but I was pleased with finally finding a suitable ship.

@Kaga: Holy wall of text, Batman! XD

I was aware of the "lost episodes" (and I should check with Netflix and then wiki to see what gaps are missing) and the difficulty of breaking into the old series of DW. I do like the aspect of companions not all being from Earth in our general time frame (2000s) and that some weren't human either. I do wish we'd have more male companions, I don't mean I want eye candy per say but I'm bored of the male doctor and female companion set up.

I have seen 12's episode last weekend and have the second recorded though I'll probably have time to watch it tonight, as I was busy binge watching The Chase on GSN because you never know how useful trivial info will be!

Sampling a bit of each Doctor would be a good idea, I don't want to feel obligated to watch each one extensively but it would be rather rude to overlook one outright without much of a chance because then yelling at people for skipping Nine would make me a hypocrite. Heh.

Though it is pretty cool that should I have issues or questions about the old who, you seem like a pretty reliable source. It was a very daunting fandom to break into, like other major ones but so far, I'm still rather fascinated by the topic and it might be due to the great actors who have carried me into space. :3
I don't wanna make things too complicated. I think essential things like cell phones, clothes, food, would probably be okay from one world to another. But maybe rather than weapons just vaporizing in a new world, maybe they are just broken? I'm not really sure how we should categorize things and rules.
As you said, some people do, some don't...

If you're looking for a full bodied debate or discussion about preference, you might wanna go to the Roleplay Discussion and pose the question there for GMs and people looking to join them.

But otherwise you sort of answered your question, as some do and some don't.

Your thought that GMs get "a lot more people" is different from what I've experienced so I don't ever make a RP without first gauging interest and adjusting concepts based on feedback from potential players. But erm...like I said, it just depends. And I'm still unsure as to why you need "help" with said question, this is more for issues with the site or hiding unwanted posts, that sort of help on the Guild.

Much like a serpent in the sky, The Connection's back tail was flipping up and down as the pilot, Qyx was circling Earth. "Just take us down nice and slow." Qyx winced as she had one scaly hand on a large blue lever and the other clutching a tour guide book for New York City. "Connector, please!" The ship took a quick dive down and Qyx surrendered to the finicky ship and just grabbed onto the sides of her pilot chair. The Connection slipped into stealth mode and easily swam past a large satellite. "How unrefined and useless, how can they enjoy themselves, with so much clutter hanging around?" Qyx huffed as her ship continued to flow towards the large North American continent. Her small heart fluttered as she saw the familiar sights of the green and blue planet. Earth was an interesting planet to her. With her ship, she could go back in time and watch it take shape.

She could even chat with the locals before they invents the horrible canon and gun.

Or she could go into the hopeful future and make sure they were still behaving themselves, sort of anyway.

Qyx was an explorer and scholar. She was interested in culture and communication and thus far, Earth was the most diverse. Her counterparts back on XYD were not fond of sharing a ship and exploring with her. They were her friends but the idea of forced interactions, even for the greater good, was something most XYDNS shied away from. Still, her purple planet was home and she loved it, which was why, she continued to task herself with exploring the unknown. While they knew a lot about the practices, universal currency, and dangers around them, her planet was still in the dark about a lot of things. She was given The Connection to help expand their knowledge of everyone else. Qyx wasn't sure how long it would take but she was happier to focus on the present, rather than the daunting task and the pressure of failing during her lifetime.

In human years, she could be compared to that of someone in their late twenties though people on XYD have no birthday and only show signs of aging by their voice and the hardening of their scales. Most people live quite long, and the longer one lives, the more respect they are given. Of course there is a mutual respect and kindness among her people already. Disputes are infrequent but lately, Qyx has noticed unrest between the young and the old and while she is happy to be an honest mediator, it is not something she enjoys. Exploring and learning is what makes her happy. As the coordinates guided them downward, she got to her feet and rested a scaly palm on the controls. "Keep the cloaking device on please, Connector." She instructed and walked out of the main control room and walked down a long sleek hallway.

After a minute's walk, she found a staircase rise from the floor.

She walked up and entered her quarters.

Her people weren't ones to dwell on fashion or appearance but since her trip with Nathan and Julie, the two human companions she adopted last go around, she has learned to adapt and be more forgiving of Earth's frivolous customs. Slipping on a yellow cotton skirt and a green tank top to cover her bare chest, she finished her look by draping a brown shawl over herself, including her head to mimic a hook. Qyx was already anxious with the addition of clothes but tried to push the inconvenience out of her head. 'Here we go.' She thought to herself. For a moment, she missed Nathan and Julie, they taught her so much about Earth and how to speak English. Julie was a lawyer in Ireland and Nathan had been a young man from India. As much as she wanted to reach back out to them, they both expressed strong interest to live the rest of their lives on Earth, without contact until their last day on Earth.

But both had requested to see one another on their last living day.

It was a reunion to look forward to, in a very bittersweet way.

The weight of knowledge, knowing who lives and dies when, was something Qyx often confided in Corrector. Even though her ship was not human and only an intelligent program, it gave Qyx some comfort. As Qyx stepped out of her quarters and headed down the long tail to one of the doors, she checked the local time. It was two minutes to three in the morning. She stepped out and admired the parking. The Connection was slipped between trees, the tail weaving between them while remaining invisible to any human onlookers. Qyx made her way out of the trees and approached the tennis courts. Some people were gathered and she tried not to let herself get too excited. "G-good evening." Or was it morning?! She greeted them while keeping her vibrant skin as hidden as possible as she surveyed the group. "What brings you all here?" She asked, trying to remember how English worked, it was so tricky!

Jennifer Rather had been the first to arrive at the tennis courts.

At a quarter past two.

Waiting wasn't a big deal to the elder professor from California.

In fact, the anticipation was a great change for her. Jennifer passed the time by looking up at the sky though much to her annoyance but acceptance, no stars were visible. The lights of the city were too bright to welcome any stars or planets into their sky it seemed. Jen was looking for excitement and that was why she was waiting for a possible alien named Qyx who promised adventure. She remembered the days of Star Trek and Star Wars. Jen wasn't sure what to expect, in her heart, it didn't feel like a joke. So she was happy to wait as long as it took. More people arrived, all with varying degrees of emotions. She had a small duffel bag packed beside her as she sat on one of the benches on the side of the tennis court. She saw people make small talk but for the most part, no one spoke as the time ticked by.

Jen had her legs crossed over as she looked around her. They were surrounded by woods, the sound of traffic unable to penetrate their hideaway. There were small lamp posts around the courts so she took out one of her old weathered journals and began to jot down her feelings and observations thus far. She enjoyed people watching and often did it in her classes but right now, she wanted to remember everything. Every moment, every thought and feeling. Jennifer was a woman who loved to record things and analyze them so for now, she was happy to distract herself with some musings. As she was finishing up, someone else arrived and it wasn't until she spoke, that Jen raised her head and offered her own attention to the timid newcomer.

"Adventure brings me here." She spoke up loudly.

"I have nothing better to do!" A young man raised his hand. He had blue eyes and smooth straight short brown hair. "I mean, it's this, go back to my parents' flat in London or my wife in Japan and to be honest, neither sounds quite brilliant." He said and then flashed everyone a smile. He had arrived around 2:50 AM and hadn't had the pleasure of mingling with everyone that much. Devon had been trying to grab a bite to eat on his way to the park though he didn't leave himself much time to navigate it but thankfully he wasn't late. His accent was pretty noticeable but in such a city like New York, it wasn't that special or anything. The boy could be mistaken for your typical rich boy who was bored and lacked ambition but that was far from the truth.

His upbringing was strict but warm.

His parents were well off but it wasn't as though they didn't work. They did. They worked hard to put good food on the table. They didn't hire help or anything like that. They did have nice cars and a second home in France, but that was still being paid off. Devon was passionate and hardworking. He loved to bake and share his treats with everyone. When he went to university, he often baked extra and handed them out to people. He did well in exams and if he needed a tutor, he wasn't too prideful to accept help. He was a ladies man on campus and that was how he ended up marrying so young. He thought romance was easy though and didn't consider that you had to be friends with your wife, not just lovers. Devon had some serious relationships in past, before Yunko but he was beginning to see that not everyone could be solved with a smile or laugh.

Real relationships took work and it was hard for him to make the effort. He was young and he needed to experience life before it escaped his grasp.

Part of the reasons for his sudden thirst for alien adventure was that he wanted to see that life was complicated and beautiful and that it could help him see it in his own personal endeavors. Having kids? Moving to a new country? It was a lot for him to soak up and he regretted his rash decisions but he hoped this wouldn't be another one. "And to be honest, I'd love to see things, learn about how other people eat." He added brightly, his jesting tone subsiding as he added more sincere substance to his comments. "I'm a baker." Devon clarified and finally dropped his hand and rubbed his neck a little, his politeness coming back quickly. "Sorry." He looked around, hoping he hadn't stepped on anyone's toes. He looked over to see an elderly woman get to her feet and walk over to them. Did he interrupt her?

He physically cringed and ducked his head.

"I bet you nab all the ladies with that skill." Jennifer nudged Devon slightly, not at all bothered by him speaking up. She glanced back over at the cloaked stranger. Some people had introduced themselves but some hadn't. She wondered if the latest addition was Qyx, the one they were supposedly waiting for. Devon dropped his hand from his neck and grinned at Jennifer and then looked to where she was looking, at the strange woman. "Why are you here...?" Jen asked, her small black leather spiral notebook still in hand, her bag back by one of the lights, on the side of the tennis court. Jennifer glanced around and felt a breeze blow by. She pulled out her cell phone, an Galaxy S4 and checked the time. It was now 3 AM. Holding her breath, she stepped to the side. "Are you Qyx?"

"Yes...I am." Qyx replied and removed the brown fabric to reveal her textured skin with tones of green and yellow.

Devon's eyed widened and he recoiled.

The art was amazing. Whoever did it was a professional.

Is was surely fake...? Right?

"I cannot believe it." Jennifer breathed, her heart slowing down. "In all my years...this moment is really here..."

"My name is...Qyx...like..." She thought for a moment of how to explain her name to the Earthlings. "Like the word...quicks?" She mentioned, inflection showing that she wasn't sure if that was the right word or even a word, for that matter. "I'm from a distant planet and I'd like some company." She said, trying to seem more competent confident as she normally was but introductions were always hard for her in English. Still, she was improving every day. Qyx then gave them a gentle smile and glanced back to her ship and gestured to it, "Come on, this is my ship...she is called The Connection." As she introduced said ship, it suddenly appeared and the bushes and woodwork bent down to allow for its weight and intrusion. "It's quite safe...unless you are a-accident prone." She joked a little and looked back to the humans.

Jennifer quickly darted back, picked up her bag and ran over to it. "Oh yes, please! Make way! Here I come! You don't have to ask me twice!" The manic professor cheered and stood next to it, glowing with a wide grin.

Devon meanwhile, was more uneasy and looked to the others to see what they thought about everyone. Was this all real?

Was it really happening?
OOC is here.

Slightly shitty heh.
Mirroring Worlds, Reflecting Possibilities

An OOC for myself, FernStone and Chezka. (May accept others later)

3-4 paragraphs per role. Doubling as characters from 19-29 years old.

This is our first collection of thoughts and bits. And now we have a better thread to stretch and throw down ideas, pictures, concepts, plots, etc

We know we want three different worlds:

Present 2014 - Earth

Male - FernStone - Keir - link
Female - Chezka - Emmy - link

Fantasy Medieval - Thera

Male - Chezka - Cyrill - link
Female - Genkai - Phaylin - link

Future Cyberpunk Science Fiction - Rathe

Male - Genkai - Nax - link
Female - FernStone - Synnove - url

We also have the concept of a "mother" mirror for each world that shattered and as such, shards are falling into the hands of people who believed their world was alone, that they were alone, that other worlds only existed in the imagination. But seeing other worlds in their shard, gives them hope and possibly fear that they aren't alone and that magic and mystery are very real and very powerful. There is also a prophecy that was given to the worlds. Earth got it wrong and thought that separating was for the best, and did just that. Rathe got it all right, knowing they needed to remain connected. And Thera only understood that something big was coming and as such, have been preparing for it. They remained connected to Rathe a while after Earth broke the connection but now all three are on their own.

In terms of characters, we will double as a male and female. We're still discussing if we want them to be similar (not related but share some kind of visible trait?) while also having different personalities.

...

Now ahem getting back to chit chatting, FS, you brought the question of "Will a gun work in another world?" And I would suppose for the sake of simplicity, no? I mean mechanics probably work different in the fantasy world as they would in the sci-fi world Should we assume that laws of physics or even just natural resources would be allowed in their own world but not through the mirror? I'm not sure if that makes sense? I mean if some high tech laser is brought into either (other) world, without the proper structure in the new world, it would just disintegrate without proper materials existing to support it?

Just a thought that would cut down a lot of crazy mixing of tech. I assume some baddies would want to make something that all three worlds could use/have in common. I'm sure there's some element that each world has and could then make weapons out of whatever it is? I just figured a limit would be easier than to have the magic or sci-fi world overpower say ours? But then again we have nukes...

But...I wouldn't want the focus to be on weapons so I'd rather not have a huge fiasco with bringing them from one world to another, I guess the same goes for say, cell phones and the like?

Or what do you guys think?
If we wanted some sort of clone (oh Orphan Black <3) situation, we could try that, or we could have differences in terms of hair or eye color, or similar appearance but with vastly different personalities. Or we could give them all something in common in which they could use the mirrors?

I can make an OOC in the Adv. section if we'd like to talk further, slide more ideas and stuff around.
Yes, the characters should mix and match, different dynamics to explore and all.

In think with the mirrors, there could be some "mother" mirror of sorts that broke apart in all three words, thus our characters could have shards and if we wanted, NPCs could have shards or there could be a section or group dedicated to rebuilding their mirror or destroying it or using it for evil, which could totally be a possibility, depending on what we want to do.

In terms of fantasy, medieval would be in there too, we'd have to all be on the same page since some people have different ideas of what fantasy entails. For me, it pretty much means: dragons, princesses, magic spells, kingdoms, no real tech, etc.

I was thinking for the cyberpunk, it was be more high tech and deal with the possibility of perhaps (if we want) androids or at least mechanical body parts if needed for someone (ex: guy needs a hand, has a robotic hand). Or like virtual reality and possible space travel. Like fantasy, this can be as broad or as specific as we're all comfortable with and all understand.
