Seeking some GM advice - Who's up for it?

Rather than PM those who can give input, you could put the info here or better yet, make a thread in the General Interest Checks and let players vote and give you feedback and what they'd like to do. It's good to create a healthy back and forth with your players and starting small might be a good way for you to step into the role of GM. Maybe you'd like a group of 3-4 players who you can get to know. The topic is secondary in regards to how you articulate yourself, your concept and how you handle being in the GM position. I would say, give it a go and understand that GMs come in many different styles.

I think when Prim tells Katniss her feelings for Gale, Katniss would want to know if it's a crush or something bigger than that. I don't think she'd be jealous per say but she would want to look out for her sister's well being. But please, Katniss has NO experience with guys, let alone girly feelings XD Prim may was well go to Effie or Peeta. Well we did want Prim and Gale to be by themselves like Haymitch and Katniss and then connecting with the other two we decided upon, and then each other, I think near the end before the explosion, Katniss and Prim do need to have that talk though, or else Johanna might say something. I hope Johanna doesn't tease Prim openly about it when they're first together...cue an unfair cat fight.

The second movie had so much Haymitch/Katniss (well so did the first...) but yeah, I liked the build up to the arena, I was afraid they'd cut it short for the film. You're fine as Haymitch, you shouldn't worry. My Gale okay? Some people really don't like him in the book and I'm trying to keep his 'I hate the Capital' in check or else he might come off as a crazy guy.

EDIT - And yes of course we're still doing the ball. We need to find our gang some outfits hahaha!

Your world/concept is so nicely thought through, I just hope I can adjust and do it justice.

Okay, no rush. I should have time tomorrow night to take a look and possibly get something up before the weekend is over.

If some lower level people were trying to join, I assume their reasons would be more full of hope if they need the money and possible recognition, despite maybe not being as well suited for travel and combat. It could be interesting but I see weaker players in that case, being more harmful and might not be accepted by say, some of our more better skilled folks.

Post length doesn't bother me. I sent someone 8-9 paragraphs for an intro because they said theirs run long, apparently that was too long for them. I would prefer breaks every say...9-13 sentences just so it doesn't look too bulky. I also do space them according to cadence and tone but I haven't really run into problems unless someone doesn't down a double enter and the paragraphs are still connected without the space between them, then that gets to become an eyesore...

It would be better if it was a mutual decision...maybe before the arena they can have a talk. I'm not sure how Gale could detach his heart from Katniss and I would hate that to be Prim herself. The best way would maybe for him to somehow realize that why he does admire Katniss, it might not be romantic? It could be pretty funny to see Gale and Haymitch discussing the attributes of Katniss and Prim when they're training at the Capital and Gale realizes he and Prim might be more suited while haymitch could notice how he and Katniss are compatible.

Of course, my posts are awesome. I mean thank you...ahem. As are yours. Thinking about the first two movies makes me ship the two pairs all over again. >___>'

Awh feelings...I still need to figure out how to put some romantic distance between Katniss and Gale. I could have him mention how much he missed her and how she just doesn't have anything beyond friendship for him like Peeta...hmmmm. *grumbles and wiggles*

So hopefully we can have some nice well nice/emotional posts and maybe they won't be too long, I hope I don't get carried away. Heh.

Not that she'd know but that maybe the bowls would have been filled entirely or mostly with Gale and Prim's name respectively so Gale essentially didn't need to volunteer for Prim's sake. If we wanted, we could have her and the gang sift through the envelopes and find out Snow did rig it all, thus probably proving how dangerous things really are and how pissed Snow is. Does that make better sense?

Manly friction and testosterone. XD Giving Prim and Katniss some time together would be nice while Gale and Haymitch go chop wood or something men do when they're alone in the woods. Hmm. Poor Prim, I hope it doesn't seem like Gale is leading her on too much, he does value her friendship and by now she is beginning to be seen as a girl, not just someone connected to Katniss.

I assumed her giving birth may have left some kind of air bending trait somehow. I don't care about Pema dying but you're playing Tenzin and you think it'll be pretty bad if we follow through with Meelo also being a casualty so I'm trying to figure out how to get air bending by not killing Meelo. *shrug*
