I could see us possibly doing an all OC Orphan Black style of RP maybe...or co-GMing some kind of small group but using canons at present, I don't really have an OC or an itch that only a canon can scratch. I mean right now, our canon pairs are pretty awesome and any canon x OC stuff wouldn't deal with the fandoms you'd be comfortable doing. I think we're pretty solid right now, sadly not ever fandom RP is this easy.
That is true, he would surely want to give it to those who could advance the world who are close to dying (sorry Aang, too late bud). I think Xano's approach while harsh and seemingly selfish, is at least logical. You can't make medical advancements on an empty budget. So either Asami could sneak some or Xana would give her some, either way when Lin is changed, she's gonna be metal bending all over the city like a sleek badass and everyone who works under her is gonna be like "DAMN."
Yeah most people with an itch for an OC x Canon pair generally want things to center around their OC, but even then, some people have nothing to offer in terms of plot or direction. Doing an OC x Canon thing with you might work out but since we handle canons so well, it's never really crossed me haha.
I haven't yet seen Daredevil, but if you're happy to write with other characters from the Marvel universe, say the Avengers, I'd be willing.

Crazy thought (I don't know if you'd be into it): these same characters could be transplanted into another setting, say the Harry Potter-verse, or the Doctor Who universe?

You really should, it's a great show, miles better than most other movies from Marvel in my mind.

What sort of crossover were you thinking of? It might work easier with Doctor Who to me. Were there any certain roles or dynamics you were considering to focusing on?
I was just happy to use my OC so whether or not she had romance, didn't matter much. I can't say that for other writers but some people need to be honest. I can make an unbalanced OC if my partner's is just as bad but overall, if I try to ask about my partner's OC or why/how they might interact with the canon I'm playing, they take so much offense. I'm not doing an obvious romance if your OC is clearly not even compatible with a canon. I'd rather an OC be too much of a match, than one that doesn't make sense with other roles.

But anywho, we don't have to worry about bad OCs here.
I think Lin would refuse Korra's offer until she knew more about what was going on. Korra is still pretty weak and shouldn't be charging head first into things again. Lin is also sure Tenzin wouldn't approve either. After just losing his wife, he shouldn't have to see Korra in danger so soon. I think Lin would keep Korra informed if she knew Korra could listen and discuss without wanting to go out and kick down doors for answers.

Oooh, that would be interesting. I think them eventually confronting Xano and Xana would be intense.

I meant to mean that Xana would tell Asami it would help them, as well as the city's future. I think Asami would def hesitate but considering Xana seems less crazy than Xano at that point, she'd trust her. I almost feel like Xana would be developing the youthful drink on her own without Xano even knowing about it. Since if he found out, he'd of course want to turn a profit.
That guy sounds like he was impossible to work with. Your characters can't all be ALL THAT and a bag of chips, you gotta have moderation. One cool character with solid skills, and then one who is working on it. But to have two sort of based on powerful types who want everything to be about them? I wouldn't put up with that for very long. The worst part is when those writers can't seriously see what's wrong with their ideas. I'd rather have someone outright admit to wanting to be overpowered or play a special role, than someone who thinks they're actually contributing.

Though I do gotta admit I have played 2 OCs who have been long lost daughters of a cool canon. My Naruto OC had her own blood targeting jutsu but her age and history backed it up, and the plot didn't revolve around her and her father reconnecting, but actually around other canons who she got to help, I didn't even want to ship her with anyone but my partner kept pushing his Naruto onto her so it happened lol

But those are instances where people are open about playing a weird OC or an OC for a certain canon still are easier to deal with since they're up front about what they want and why their character is a certain way. At least to me, I'd rather have someone admit they can change things, rather than be super stubborn and blind about their roles. A writer who can't step back and see issues is just as bad as someone in a bad relationship who just ignores red flags. I mean, when you're looking at something through rose colored glasses, red flags just end up looking like flags.
I think Xano and Xana (unlike Amon, for instance) don't view bending as a divider but as a unifying function and that in the hands of good people, non-benders shouldn't feel isolated or afraid. Which ends up spiraling into who is worthy and who isn't, sort of a mess. It would spark something if Bolin and Korra saw a new face at the arena, someone who just got fire bending (to sort of relate to Asami getting it, when they find out). Or are you thinking of the next skip after this?

And who tries to aim for redemption? Xano and Xana?

If Xano did distribute mixtures that could wear off, that would provide some interesting conflicts later on when things sort of explode in the city. I do assume though, Xana wouldn't tell Asami what the mixture does but that Tenzin and Lin need to drink it, which I figure Asami could do easily if she made them some tea or a cocktail and laced the drink that way. I think by then, she has to trust Xana since she already doesn't feel good about taking on three elements and Xana agrees.
Bad HP OCs happen when they end up doing:

- Pureblood in any House, totally misunderstood and an outcast, but a powerful witch/wizard.

- Mudblood who is bullied by purebloods, friendless but clever and loved by teachers alike, has a special pet.

- A son/daughter of a canon character who has zero flaws and yet is burdened by their expectations.

- An OC who is an animagus but keeps it to themselves, somehow also has a timer tuner so they skip classes to frolic on the grounds, only to go back in time and still get all As.

- A muggle struggling with being a witch/wizard, is also homesick and cries a lot. Then finds they have a knack for flying and gets on the team in their first year, still ends up being mopey.

I've seen plenty of cliche things, whether they're paired up with a canon or not.
Alright, I think that works.

I figure though, their air bending gene is replicated but they would agree that since numbers are so few, they want to pick those carefully. I do think by our second skip though, there should be at least one air bender popping up. I also think they could start (Xano and Xana) with wanting to give good people bending powers by taking it away from jerks or those unworthy. I think the turning point we could use would be Xano (the guy right?) taking money for bending talents. While Asami gets water bending (probably soon after the second skip) I think Xana would be unsure about giving her more than two since we could say Xano was the one who wanted to create his own Avatar while Xana was more into the science and tests, rather than using them for selfish reasons. By the time Asami is given earth, I assume Xana would then give Asami the elixir to give to Tenzin and Lin since Xana thinks they could help combat her brother and soon Asami?
