Livius

Livius regards Markus politely, listening intently as he explained his position on the plan. “Hmm. You certainly are an astute young man for someone in the order. Surprised someone like yourself has even managed to be dragged down with this lot.” He says, flashing the man a warm smile as he gently removes and cleans his glasses.

“I believe your assessment is wholly correct. I do think the vast majority of your order are incompetent to the point of hilarity. Present company excluded of course Miss Belwiss.” He says pleasantly. Vizer, meanwhile, has began examining the map as intently as possible, not wanting any part of this conversation.

“If your concern is the potential for civilian deaths while we wait for the captain to return, I wouldn't bother. Its more likely they will pick off Ithillin villagers or travelers in the interim. So Thaln, for the time being, stands to lose nothing if we delay. And since we will likely only have one chance to execute this operation, I want to ensure we get the greatest result. With the captain as additional bait, that is more than assured.” He adds, walking over to an empty chair and taking a seat. “So, with that said. We shall wait for the captain. Now be a champion of the people and kindly bring me one of the help. I will need some things from my home if I'm to stay in this fort long enough to appraise the captain of the situation.” He gives Markus a dismissive wave before taking out a small book, reading as if the last few minutes had not even transpired.

((OOC: To be clear, there are some people in the other party that are needed for the next arc (more than just Fanlily), thus why Livius is saying to hold off....in his own dickish way anyway.))

Gillian and Nori

“Anyway to tell how long ago our calcium rich friend was brought up?” Gill asks, watching as Tiral seal the skeleton in ice. “And these are folks looking for a shard of one of the most evil men to walk the lands. Pretty sure they'd start their day with casual heresy like this if possible. Right after the morning coffee.” He begins scanning the tree line, looking for any signs of life....er. Movement.

“Perhaps they were alerted to the failure of their hired help?” Nori says, poking the ice block and the curious bone pile within. “Or this was maybe meant as a distraction for us. We are dealing with an enemy smart enough to engineer an ambush at one of your forts.” the rabbit adds, ear twitching in thought.
This arc was actually in the works way before you showed up! So entirely unintentional. And you can, but I uh...
As the post indicates, these guys are not someone you'd want to be knowingly associated with. If its in character, go for it.
“....while your enthusiasm is commendable, charging broadsword first has already been tried. To no good results.” Livius says, cleaning the underside of a nail while the grey knight moves through the hall. “That and I would not waste your or my valuable time by coming here to throw you at an enemy without a plan. Vizer, if you please.” He says, giving the other man the floor.

“Yes mi'lord. Thanks to the efforts of the Royal Scouting Guild we've been able to determine the purposes behind these attacks.” He produces a small booklet, the image of a nude goblin like creature with a large...uh....sword emblazoned on the front. “They call themselves the Branches of B'vitol, some old local god of fertility and the harvest. Long since relegated to a piece of local color to be honest with you.”

He continues. “These men and women seem to think their leader, who've we've yet to identify, is the reincarnation of their god, one with a particular hard on for destroying all known varieties of mage craft. See's it as an abomination against nature or the like. The manifesto is theirs, recovered from the third site.”

“They also have some rather unflattering predictions on Reon and Mayon which I wont go into.” He continues. “We estimate their numbers to be around ten or so cells totaling 100 individuals, operating semi-independently across the wilds of Ithillin, only coming together for raiding. We also strongly suspect they've received some degree of military training, as their grasp of guerrilla tactics is well beyond your average bandit group.”

“If we were to go in, we'd be fighting a highly distributed group on their own territory. And given the lack of success on Ithillin's part, I doubt you'd fair much better. Thus, in conjunction with a few select members of foreign nobles in Velt and Thaln, we've devised a strategy that should hopefully allow you to slaughter them in one stroke.”

He places a new pin on the map, as well as drawing three lines forming a tight triangle between the three boarders. “We've taken the liberty of evacuating a near by village predicted to be along their path to a lords strong hold. After some length negotiations, the inhabitants have agree to resettle in Velt territory provided that Thaln will provide protection as they move through our lands.”

“Officially speaking, the only members of the Iron Roses expected to participate is the good Captain as a sign of good faith. The rest of the provided guard will be...” he pauses to provide air quotes. “ 'mercenaries generously provided by the houses of Thaln'.”

“The hope is that given their recent strings of victories combined with the prospect of killing mages and a figure head of a rival religion will draw them out. As they cross the border to engage your forces, who they will believe to be an easy target, both Ithillin and Velt will heavily fortify their boarders, trapping them between yourselves and our allies. If all goes well, the lot of them will be dealt with with only one operation. After they've been dealt with, the remaining villagers are to be transported across the Velt boarder as planned.”
Livius

“Ah. Finally.” Livius huffs as Slav drops him, addressing Belwiss. “Someone of a house worth speaking to. Though I am going to elect to ignore the comment about my family's level of sense.” He says, dusting himself off. Vizer just rubs his eyes and takes out a rolled map, gently pinning it to a clear spot on the table. “Mi'lord...” He begins

“oh. Right. Well, I've no intention of leaving until I'm certain the captain will address this personally, Belwiss is reliable enough.” He says, walking over to the map, pushing pasted the cloaked trio. The map shows the boarders along Thaln's northern side, he points to the middle of Ithillin.

“Approximately four months ago I received a message from a long term trading partner that a shipment of materials I use for my research would be delayed a month or so due to what, at the time, was presumed a bandit raid on a village under her care.” He says, gently placing a pin into the location of the village in question. “The damage according to her report, was extensive. The village itself was naught but ash by the time her forces arrived, and the...what? Two? Three?”

Vizer sighs. “Two sir.” Livius waves a hand dismissively. “Right right. Two. Two survivors reported...lacking any polite way to put this. Ritualized mutilation, murder and sexual assault of almost all residents.” He adds bluntly.

“Two weeks later, a similar incident takes places in a larger township, under a neighboring lord lands. This one with a fortified barracks and a decently sized contingency of some of Ithillin's finest, seemingly decimated over night.” He says, placing another pin on the map.

“This pattern has continued along several villages and towns in the region, each increasingly skirting the Thaln boarder.” He adds five more pins to the map. “Given their trajectory, its likely this organization will move on to Thaln territory sooner rather than later.”

He pauses, looking at the grey haired knight, waiting to see if she or the others want to ask questions before he continues on.

Livius

A trio of metallic wolf like ears pop out from beneath the hoods of the cloaked figures as they step forward to protect their master from the implied threat from Minerva. On closer inspection, its clear they are not living protectors, glassy green lens for eyes peek out at the woman. Each are adorn in some animalistic theme, though with the cloaks in the way its rather difficult to tell what exactly each is.

“As a member of Thaln nobility, and not of a lower house like yourself...” Livius starts with equal coldness. “I've a right to demand whatever is needed of my station. Including an audience with your captain.” Behind him, the man with the eye patch simply rubs his temples. He was clearly expecting this to go more smoothly.

“As for removing my limbs, I would love to see someone of such a lowly family tryiieeEEE” he says, fading out into a squeal of surprise as another knight lifts him. He awkwardly turns as best he can to look at the new aggressor, as best as he could anyway. “....my lord. You are a tall one. I should use you as a model for future experiments...rare to see such a refined example of power...” He says, looking them over, half way ignoring their question.

“But yes, as you say I am of the incandescent Sunfield family. Elder half brother to Sult. I suppose you've had the honor of working with my darling baby sister?” He says, the trio of golems still watching Minerva intently. “And if the child captain isnt here, then summon her. I doubt whatever paltry mission she is on is more important than the task I've need of her performing.”

Vizer finally steps in, hoping to calm the issue. He bows politely to Minerva, seeing the new giant of a woman to not be as hostile for the moment. “Please excuse my friend. His lordship is...unaccustomed to needing aid. He is right though, the matter to which we both came here to discuss with her is of vital importance to the maintenance of good relations with our neighbors.”
Gillian huffed silently as Fanlily ordered them to march on, and the apparent scolding he was to receive once they returned to Candlean. He resolved to come up with a snarky retort….after the danger had passed. Would be pretty embarrassing to explain to Reon he died in glorious combat because he was too mentally preoccupied with coming up with sarcastic remarks to use on the chosen captain.

“Is this the shrine Master Trial saw in his vision?” Nori asks, somewhat taken aback by the...humble, she decided, nature of the shrine. She begins to scan the surrounding area, looking for signs of life, waiting on an answer.

“Yeah, we do seem one dooms-day evil cult short what we were expecting.” Gillian adds, watching as Tyaethe tosses a quick prayer into the pool. “Possible ambush?” He asks, more or less to everyone. Considering what had happened at the fort, could not write off the possibility after all.

----------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile ealeir that morning, a rather...unwelcome visitor trudge his way through the gates of Candlean, flanked on all sides by cloaked figures, a light haired man following closely behind. It was hardly rare to see a noble not of the order. After all, there were pleasantries to exchange, generous donations to contribute to their noble cause, and even the ever frequently (though rarely helpful) eager volunteer seeking to prove themselves.

However it was known publicly that the lead man, Livius Sunfield, was in no way the sort to make public appearances. A mixed blessing depending on who you asked. The youngest, and last, of the previous lady Sunfields progeny, the boy was considered a true prodigy in the field of golemancy. However, what few visits to the noble court he'd dare taken had left him with a reputation of being irascible and stubborn.

"I demand to see Captain Danbelion!" He says above the din of the morning chatter in the mess hall, voice rasping and straining to reach such a volume, clearly unaccustomed to needing to do so. A few servers awkwardly shuffle in place, unsure what to do with the sudden screaming noble in their dining hall.

"Ahh..sir..." The man from behind begins. "Perhaps you should take a more polite ton-" He begins, before being cut off by the younger man. "As a son of the house of Sunfield, I've a right to demand an audience with her if need be Vizer." He says, crossing his arms in opposition to the advice. The older man sighs, but says no more. Content to allow the noble to act as he wished, knowing there was little he could do to control him at this point. And he got the impression that the boy wouldn't listen to him, even if he were to explain that the captain currently wasn't in the fort. Best leave THAT headache to another poor soul.

@Feisty-Pants@Saltwater Thief
Then I shall get started on that!
Woot! I'll probably hold off on my post till you and saltwater are done then. will probably be up by tonight?
Yo, Guess I'll throw my two cents in, albeit not the GM. Just to address a few things mainly in the magical abilities list you provided.

The Ultimate Eye --

The Rose of May --

Heaven's Strike --

I'd feel a little more comfortable if you put a little more detail into the exact behavior of these spells. Limitations on improvements to ones abilities, possible long term side effects she might experience that sort of thing (more so for ultimate eye than the other two). Not a huge issue (Loli seems to be cool with them), but its always nice to establish a clear baseline when dealing with magic. (if only for so in the future, things remain internally consistent. Sans Rule of Cool moments.)
Hey man, nobody complains when you pair salty with sweet. So why not irish with French....
....some how I feel like I'd offend either group by the suggestion.
