|| PERSONALITY ||}} Kiara has always been a carefree girl. She learned to be that way because life is too short to dwell on your mistakes or mishaps. She is someone who isn't weighed down by the troubles of everyday life, and is always herself regardless of the situation and lives life to the fullest. She's not restricted by other people's opinions. Kiera is girl who still smiles when things aren't going too well, taking a positive outlook on life and trying to make the most of it - her spirit isn't damped by little things in life, she's free spirited. She is sometimes overly guarded and secretive. When everyone is talking about more personal subjects she is good at hanging back and not contributing, changing the subject, taking the attention off of herself, or giving vague, evasive answers. She hates talking about herself, but, being the observant person she is, loves to hear about others. She's an overall fun girl to be around, as long as you're someone she finds to be a good person.

|| BACKGROUND ||
Kiera Miller was born on a rainy Thursday morning to Andrea Jones and Tyler Gibson, two young, naive and unprepared eighteen year olds. Andrea had given birth in her college dorm room, keeping the radio volume all the way up so no one could hear her scream. After being previously being pressured to "get rid of" the baby by Tyler, Andrea finally decided that she should give her baby up. She'd arranged a meeting with a seemingly normal African-American couple, at which she'd hand her away. The more mature couple had been pregnant for eight months before losing their baby a few days before. Instead of telling anyone about their dead child, they brought home Kiera instead, eager to show off the new member of their family. The two never told anyone, including Kiera, about what happened. The couple saw Kiera as their "second chance," and told her, as she grew up, that she was a gift from God. They raised her to be an intelligent, humble, and bright young woman.

Kiera grew up in a moderate sized apartment with her Mom, Dad, and pet dog. Money had never been an issue for her family, seeing as how her Dad was a lawyer, and her mom owned her own pastry shop. Life just couldn't get any better. That is, until her parents split up. Kiera was twelve years old when she'd heard her parents arguing late at night, worse than they'd ever had before. They argued for about ten minuted before her Dad packed his things, and left without saying goodbye. She'd never hear from him again, other than a few postcards and letters for her birthday. Later on she would learn that her dad had fell in love with a man, and left town to travel the world with him.

From then on, Kiera and her mother had to work extra hard to keep her shop up and running. Without the extra money coming in from her dad, Kiera and her mother had to work extremely hard to continue making a living for themselves. Kiera had to get a job when she turned fifteen, also helping her mother with the shop from time to time. Despite having to work, Kiera still excelled in school, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, her motivation being that one day she'd become so successful that she'd be able to come back home one day, look her mother in the eye and say, "I can take care of you."

Day 04 - A song that reminds you of something sad

Impossible - Shontelle

When I was in the 7th grade I met this amazing girl named Tyra. We became very close friends.
She would invite me over to her house almost every week, and she would always have this song blasting in her room. It was her favorite song, and I'd sometimes hear her humming the tune whenever I was with her. We grew apart, though, when we went off to high school. Her family moved to a different house not too far away, so she was in a different school zone. We kept in touch for the first half of 9th grade, calling or texting each other every day. Soon, days turned into weeks, and then months. The last time I'd heard from her was New Years, when she sent me a quick text.

Tyra committed suicide three months ago.

Every time I hear this song, I am reminded of her, and I can't help but tear up. I just wish that I would have been there for her. I still regret not trying to call her more, because now I really miss hearing her voice.

Day 03 - A Song that Makes you Laugh

When I was younger, my sisters and I would listen to the song almost everyday and dance around the house. One time, my sister was dancing in the kitchen with her socks on, which really wasn't a good idea. Long story short; she fell on her arse.
Every time I hear this song it reminds me of that, and I can't help but laugh.

She cherishes her "me-time," prefers to observe before she acts, and contributes to conversation only when she thinks she has something relevant to say. She also tends to focus solely on her writing. She's blunt, straightforward, and brutally honest. She doesn't trust anyone.

HISTORY }} Kiera and Jacob Miller were born on June 15th in Compton, CA. Their teenage mother kept them for two weeks before leaving them in a garbage bin behind her high school. Luckily, a man on his bike heard them crying and came to the rescue, taking them to the hospital and later on, an orphanage. As they grew older, Kiera and Jacob were continuously being separated; being placed in different foster homes. Each time, they caused so much mischief that they were eventually sent back. When they were nine years old, though, a nice white couple decided to adopt Jacob and move across the country, leaving Kiera behind. She never heard from her brother again.

When Kiera turned ten, she was finally adopted by a Puerto Rican couple, where she was forced to call the foster parents "Mom" and "Daddy." Her adoptive father, Mario, wasn't too excited about having her as a daughter. Her adoptive mother, on the other hand, was always kind and treated her as if she was her own daughter. With her help, Kiera excelled in school and was given many opportunities that she'd never been offered in the past. They had a great year together, but that all came to an end when Kiera's adoptive mother was killed in a car accident. Ever since she died, her adoptive father became very neglectful. He'd abuse her physically and verbally, throw parties that lasted for hours, and leave her at home alone for days at a time. In his eyes, she was not his daughter.

Kiera was twelve years old when she was first sexually abused by her adoptive father. He would sneak into her room at night, get into her bed, and touch her inappropriately. This continued almost every night until she was fourteen, when instead of just touching her, he raped her. The next morning before school he threatened her, saying that if she told anyone about what had happened, he would kill her. For the next few years of her life, Mario would continue sneaking into her room at night and "handling his business." She wasn't at all surprised when she found out that, at age fifteen, she was pregnant. She kept hidden from him until she was about six months pregnant, when he walked in on her changing clothes.

Furious, Mario started to beat Kiera, repeatedly punching and kicking her in the chest, face, and stomach. When she finally fell unconscious, he threw her body in the backseat of his car and drove downtown, looking to ditch her somewhere in an alley. His plans were thwarted, however, when he was pulled over by a police officer for speeding, and her unconscious body was discovered. Her adoptive father was arrested, and she was rushed to the hospital. Regardless of the doctor's great efforts, Kiera lost her baby. A few weeks later, Kiera was placed, yet again, with a foster family. She was forced to see a therapist five times a week to deal with her PTSD and Panic Disorder. Despite the therapy sessions, Kiera never did fully recover. She fell into a deep depression, and two days before her sixteenth birthday, attempted suicide.

She's been at Treewit ever since.
