Current Pirates, monsters, magic, islands and no civilization to steal from. Hmm.

Now, what happens when you have a bunch of monsters that were living in a forest and they get transmigrated into a futuristic urban setting?

I know that few, if any, people on this site would be interested in it... but... I just got an idea for a SAO/GGO/XCOM/UFO crossover... fun tingles...

Life has never given mankind sufficient time... nor sleep... nor comprehension. If it had, we would have stopped trying.

It can be greatly refreshing to return to a thing that one has long loved.

@Lightbox Probably a solid bet. I still need responses from two people before I can reasonably move anyway. I hope that I'm conveying Tailpin's insecurities effectively enough. They could prove annoying if I put too much focus on them but they are an important part of his personality.
Sorry to throw a wrench in possible plans but since Tailpin isn't partied up with anyone yet I thought I'd get him creeping toward level three a bit while revealing some indirect character traits. How much money and the value of the items I'll leave up to you. I'm actually thinking that our characters would make for a solid business partnership, maybe even edging toward something like a distant sibling bond later on.@PyroDash888

And, @Lightbox, if you'd like to team up for a brief excursion at night then all you'd have to do is get to the market area of town before Tailpin leaves. After all, there's no guarantee that our newly arrived Scythe wielding Jackal tamer will be interested in going right back out at night with an archer that he hasn't met.
Tailpin had just closed his menus after equipping his new quiver full of level two arrows when he heard a distinctive giggle. It wasn't the most likely sound to hear so soon after that little revelation earlier. It drew his eye. The blue hair captured his attention. Then he proceeded to overhear some things that he probably had no right to know at this point. He remembered Sapphira from when Mai'lo introduced everyone in their group before that battle. He also remembered that she had rushed ahead to sell loot. He felt a brief flicker of anger at that memory. That boy hadn't needed to die but she didn't have to dismiss his death that way either.

Then he took a breath and calmed down. He was the last person who had a right to judge. After all, the things he said back there about killing Kayaba in the real world would sound pretty obnoxious to someone who knew the truth about him. Obnoxious and pathetic, those were the right words to describe him. He wasn't even all that useful in this world yet, never mind that one. Bah, those were depressing thoughts, worthless and weak. From what he'd seen, he was one of the oldest people out of all the players he'd met. He had to at least keep himself together.

Then he remembered what he'd shouted before running into town. For now, he'd just act like he hadn't heard anything. Though, it did seem that he'd found a kindred spirit of sorts. Neither of them wanted to go back. He was about to start walking toward them but stopped for a moment when he noticed barking. So, a pet that isn't from this area and one of the hardest to handle heavy weapons all on one player. That screamed beta-tester. It also opened up an opportunity. He left that matter alone for the moment. He had to take care of business first.

He walked toward Sapphira and her new aquaintance, raising his voice to announce himself. "Sapphira!" He stopped walking when he was within a good conversational distance. "I assume that you remember me from when we were introduced earlier but I'm Tailpin. I'm sorry to interrupt and I know it's a little presumptious to ask for a favor so soon after meeting but I'd like your help with a couple things." He took a small breath and swiped open his inventory menu, rapidly tagging a short list of items as well as most of the coin he had, and then opened a trade window to Sapphira. "I need you to use these funds to cover the group's expenses at the inn tonight, they should be enough. The crafting supplies and any leftover money can go toward building your business. Consider them payment for helping me out." Tailpin knew that this wouldn't make much sense but he did have a plan so he was quick to explain. "I made a bit of a bold wager before getting into town but something came up that I want to take care of so I'm going to be pretty late getting to the inn."

He had a feeling that she would accept, if only because it was additional coin for her business at no cost in time for her. She was probably going to head to the inn soon anyway. He kept the scythe wielder in the corner of his vision. He would need what was left of his funds to persuade that guy to help him out for an hour or two. He was going to train his spotting skill outside town at night, get mapping data for the surrounding area and get some opportunity kills if he could. There was no guarantee that he'd be able to wait for good lighting in a dungeon. Besides, he needed to make sure that he would be valuable and he was coming from behind so he had ground to make up. If he could get that beta-tester to help him then he'd have a front liner to cut the danger factor down.

If Sapphira took care of the matter as he'd asked and this other plan worked out then he'd be able to offer more than just his level two skills when he tried to get into her planned guild on the ground floor. It would just be a little bit of a wait until she was ready to start for real. That was when he could express interest and join up without revealing what he'd overheard.
Ok, so I can probably post after that then. Though, since we haven't time-skipped yet, we still have to meet up at the inn for the night and finish the meet and greet. After all, we haven't actually formed a full sized party or guild yet. I know that Tailpin isn't a member yet, for one.

More importantly though. Now I'll have to wait for a couple people to post before I unleash another monster of description and narration. Gah, if only I could have managed that for the intro post I just had to cobble together. Bloody little three or four paragraph trinket...
And... the kids have been screaming and... anyway. Now I have the start of a migraine. I normally would have been able to put several paragraphs of description in front of that intro but I just can't see anything clearly enough... Maybe I'll try and add more atmosphere later, nothing that anyone else would need to respond to but just to bring it back up to where I wanted it to be. I just need to cook dinner without burning the house down now. Wish me luck.
@Zelosse Wage slaves are we. We three in slavery. Bound to grin through thick and thin and be the calm voice in the din.
Utu-ja had just finished oiling his leathers in time for the assembly. He had been busy with night fishing and day hunting for the past week, sleeping for a few hours at dusk and dawn. He was tired but had managed to make some small difference in the expense of feeding so many people, at least enough to earn his pay. That was the least he ever did. This wasn't as forgiving a job as hunting beasts alone. Here he was surrounded by humans, many of them didn't think he was any more than foreign trash. For an argonian in Skyrim there was no room for appearing lazy. It didn't ever seem to matter that he'd never known anywhere else. Everyone in Skyrim saw an argonian and thought they were from Black Marsh. Utu didn't even really know where that was. He hadn't even seen the sky until he was sixteen.

He arrived at the fringes of the assembled crowd and circled until he would be out of sight of the general disapproval of the humans. Only a couple of them saw him. Their flabby lips turned up in the middle into sneers before they looked away. He was well accustomed to avoiding notice in camp, or anywhere else really. Still, there's always a few that look for things they don't like. The trick to avoiding serious trouble here in camp was being noticed just enough by the right people and avoiding the wrong ones. That was one of the reasons why he spent as much time as possible being useful and elsewhere at the same time, helping Edith and Daelin. This scouting mission looked like a good chance to continue a successful trend. Besides, Daelin already knew how good he was with both his eyes and his bow.

Utu stood as erect as his stooped posture would allow, waiting until two others had raised their hands. He wanted to know who else he would have to deal with. The orc was strong enough to hold an enemy at bay. The elf had some magic, likely as not. With him as well they might do a decent job of picking off vulnerable enemies as well as scouting. Besides, he would make sure to bring any information back. There might be a bonus in it for him if he did good enough.

Raising his voice and his hand above the crowd he called out to Ashav in a clear voice. "I will go, sir." Then he lowered his hand.

There was more risk this time but it was still the same as everything else in life. Don't die. Don't fail. Don't lose anyone or anything you might need later. They were simple enough rules. It could be harder to follow them than it was to set them though.

I'm at my customer service job right now.
Hard to offend me too. But I dont want to offend others.
Managers get upset when you tell the guy yelling at you "catch fire and fuck off"

Hah! That would be so satisfying though! Still, I understand and share the same affliction.
Try not to worry so much about mine, @Zelosse. I worked in customer service for five years or so. It's hard to offend me.
