Quick everyone, PM Mahz with your wishlist for Guild updates and new features. The more the better. In fact, send him a PM about it every day. Make that every hour. Chop chop!

To all the homies in Florida -- stay safe out there. Now is not the time to wrangle an alligator and surf it down the flooded streets. I know, it's hard to resist the urge.

Bio

On the old version of the Guild I was the record holder for 'Most Infraction Points Without Being Permabanned'.

My primary roleplaying genres are fantasy and science fiction. Big fan of The Elder Scrolls, The Lord of the Rings, Warhammer 40,000, Mass Effect, Fallout and others.

Think about email and text lists before rich text formatting became common. Asterisks and underlines were common ways of formatting text, in addition to ALL CAPS. Markdown follows that same idea, but as I mentioned before, it's more suitable for conversational posts like an email or discussion. It's not as good for novel-type posts, which is the primary content (debatable by our spammers, I suppose) here. Any spammer that debates that is an idiot.

> With this roster and with this occasion, it feels like it's exactly one year ago again. Maybe we can just pretend last year never happened. Last year saw much of the old-timers migrate to other forums as well and activity has declined significantly. We can pretend, but it won't be the same. Let's just see it as a good opportunity for a fresh start.

> > > With the thread/page titles once more popping up in browser tabs (instead of just "roleplayer guild")... Is it intentional that it says, for example, "Topic: Mahz's Dev Journal - Roleplayer Guild" rather than "Mahz's Dev Journal - Roleplayer Guild"? Or is that a sneaky bit of uncooperative code? > > > > I assume it might be intentional. I, however, did think that I should perhaps suggest that the "Topic:", "Convo:", etc prefixes be done away with, since the first six letters of a topic title tend to be more informative than just whether it is a topic, PM-conversation or forum view. > > Yall think the context is unnecessary/extraneous? I'll do away with it. > > In other news, I've been pleased with this editor: <http://imperavi.com/redactor/>. I have it working on my local machine and have re-implemented the Save/Cancel edit system seen on the current Markdown editor. > > If I go that route: > > - I'll be able to store HTML directly in the database. There will be no client-side rendering necessary, so no more jarring "pop in" posts. The front-end will be responsive since it's just an HTML dump. No post-processing. > - I'll render all current Markdown posts to HTML (when I deploy the new editor) and they will then be editable with the editor. That should be a seamless change. Then I'll remove the Markdown system. > - The path to making legacy (pre-relaunch posts) editable again will the be obvious since the editor can just load their HTML. > > I'll push it to the dev server when I'm done to get some feedback. > > It not easy to find the middle ground between WYSIWYG clusterfuck and editing markup by hand with no help, but this editor is actually easy for me to work with. Sounds good. I'm glad you've found a way to get rid of the pop-up posts because that shit really is annoying (and jarring) as fuck.

So now that Mahz is actively working on the site again, can we get some activity back in Spam? If our Great Leader can manage to unfuck the Guild we basically owe it to him to turn this subforum back into the writhing cesspool it once was.

Holy shit, Mahz actually did a thing. I thought you were gone for good, brother. Glad to see you haven't given up on the Guild.
The Skype group is still pretty lively, but it's true that most of the people in it migrated elsewhere for their roleplaying needs. I'm sure there are also plenty of people like myself, who don't think it's worth integrating into a new community and have just abandoned roleplaying altogether.

Guess that makes you a total greenhorn, eh?

And what the fuck was that supposed to be? The only groups in Spam that ever mattered were the nameless ones, like Bunnay's idiotic following or the Skype clique.

oh and the hedgehog mimes or whatever the fuck

EDIT: At any rate, Spam's dead now. gg wp no re.
That's the gayest shit I've ever read.
People will eventually become fed up with every insistent fandom they're not a part of.
