Stand Your Ground: The Second Iraq War

Iraq.

A place filled with sand, sweltering heats and not-so-friendly locals. That was what Marine Team Beta was worried about. Not heatstroke, not dehydration and not getting lost. It was getting murdered by the local extremist group.

We thought we had exterminated the Osama bin Laden, leader of the terrorist group al-Qaeda back in 2011. We were wrong. He survived, and four years later, he detonated a nuclear device in the United States, on Independence Day . It was considered the worst terror attack since 9/11. Furious, the US government declared war on Iraq. We invaded that very year. It was intended to be a swift and decisive victory. But even with state-of-the-art technology, the Iraqis held their own.

May 5, 2017. The war still rages on in the Middle East, and a small team of six Marines have been deployed in order to investigate a suspected terrorist meeting point in a medium-sized village. But the villagers aren't happy with US military presence in their home, and Beta Team leaders felt something fly past his head.

Unfriendly Contact: The First Year [INTEREST CHECK]

Humanity's first contact with intelligent alien life did not go well. What we thought was a chance meeting of a lifetime turned into a long and bloody war.

The Third World War had not taken kindly to us. We almost destroyed ourselves, and the Earth. Decades of nuclear war had nearly annihilated our race. Even after years of living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, we we still at each other's throats. It was almost a hundred years later when we realised our mistake. We began to pick up the pieces and rebuild, re-terraforming our home. Eventually, we restored the Earth to its natural state, and we swore nothing like this will ever happen again.

Now is the year 2844. Humanity has long since expanded to the stars, with technology enabling us to go at faster-than-light speeds, thus letting us go interstellar. With thousands of planets united under one banner, you would think the United Earth Government Naval Command would have no problem controlling them.

However, war has become a constant factor in everyday life. Rebels and insurgents are a constant threat to the UEGNC, with battles in space and on land happening almost daily. But the UEGNC was almost victorious. They had killed the leader of the rebels, and his fleet was in shambles. We thought they were going to win.

Turns out we were wrong.

A year ago, a hostile alien race attacked a colony world known as Cascade in the Epsilon Eridani System, mere lightyears away from Earth. Thanks to the efforts of the Marines stationed there, we managed to push them off the planet. We won the battle, but we started a new war.

Now, the UEGNC and the elf-like race of aliens known only as the Vaskrans are at full-out war, and the UEGNC finds out that they are more of a threat than we thought.

Wilderness Survival For Idiots (Interest Check)

You wake up on cold, wet dirt. It's freezing. You get up and look around. Something's not right. You're certainly not in your warm, soft bed. You look around. It appears that you are in a forest. There are snow-covered trees all around you. It's snowing. With a shiver, you exhale. Your breath instantly turns to mist. You hear a groan. You look around you again, noticing five more people in the snow. You appear to be in a circle. There is a crate in the middle. Stumbling towards it in the dense snow, you open it. Inside, there appear to be some supplies. Six flashlights, six jackets, six sleeping bags, three handguns, two knives, two thermos flasks, a shovel, a Swiss army knife, a coil of rope, a box of matches, a compass and a note. You pick up the note and read it.

Survive. The people around you are your companions. Wait for rescue.
