Annalynne

Unknown Location - 248 HP 8/8

Annalynne had enjoyed the conversation in the wagon. While she was completely unused to such a thing, it actually eased any tension, allowing her to close her eyes for a moment of brief bliss. So this is what normal people do, hmm she thought, allowing the words, the voices, the rhythm and charm to circle through her head. She still had her hand clutched to her hip, ready to draw her weapon if need be, but the possibility of not having to use it was nice for a change.

The sudden crash threw them all into chaos. Normally, she would've paid extra attention, taking note of every single thing that happened. It was easier to get through a situation if you know what you were dealing with. Unfortunately, she couldn't recall much. It was as if the crash had completely wiped her memory, or she was somehow asleep for it all. She woke, face down in the dirt. The hilt of her dagger digging into her hip, leaving it tender to the touch. The rancid smell of death and smoke billowed from the earth itself, snaking its way down her lungs, smothering her in its embrace. She sensed the others were near, but there was something else there ... someone else. She tried to keep quiet, her keen ears listening to each syllable, each tone. But the smoke was becoming too much for her. She turned herself over to face the sky, as if there was something to see through closed eye lids, violently coughing as if to expel the vile smoke that was choking her. It wasn't much better top side, but her coughing had eased. Had they fallen into an abyss of nothingness? Not even their carts were to be found. Nothing but darkness, smoke and death.

'A test', the others had mentioned. A grin tugged at her lips. "Should you feeble humans survive this ordeal, a great reward awaits you"

You pack a bunch of 'low lifes' and 'holier than thous' in a cart together, and then threaten their lives., she giggled quietly. And suddenly she felt that this was where she was supposed to be, like all her life was leading up to this moment, why else would she have had to endure such tortures. She wiggled her fingers and then her toes, ensuring that not only were they still there, but that she could move. She slowly slithered back, returning to her previous position, digging the toes of her boots into the ground. She was quite low to the ground, the fog lifted just enough to cover her almost completely. She could barely see much, but the preparation of the others told her all she needed to know. A dagger in one hand, she slipped to the back of the group eyeing her enemy. Her brows wrinkled slightly. These we certainly not human, they weren’t beasts either. They were but figures in the dark.

“No!” someone shouted in warning. But it was already too late. The others had mounted their attack. All that she needed now as for them to advance, and then she would make her move... She waited patiently.
@Belwicket well, we haven't gone very far in the conversation yet.

So all guests were invited into the house and showed to a room to wait for Genevieve to arrive. I wouldn't say she made them wait too long, and when she did arrive, she started telling them about their quest.

First she just introduced herself and the reason why she gathered them all there: someone who had traveled with them previously - aka- the rogue/witchling/traitor that is mentioned through out her explanations, stole an artifact/key from her, and she believes this rogue is working with a group of magi to hide it. Questions that were asked in response to this were:
why hasn't Genevieve's order taken care of the problem with the great evil
what's in it for them? rewards?
What does the artifact do?
More information about the type of quest - a simple retrieval/was it stolen by a faction?
And last but not least - whats in it for them? Why them? Why not take care of the problem yourself - etc

Then, Genevieve goes into that there are great evils about, and that her order is no more, she is the last that she knows of and doesn't have the power and or resources to defeat the evil she speaks of. Then went into a bit more detail about what the artifact does, what it looks like, etc. She does also mention that there will be a bit more of a reward than just the honor of doing a good deed and talks about why she chose them.

"During my studies, I had learned of three artifacts, or as some texts have named them, keys. Each key has their own attribute or powers, but when one possesses all three keys, they essentially become a god. With their power, they can control the energies of not only this realm, but more importantly, the armies of hell itself. That kind power in the wrong hands can certainly be a danger that none of us can ignore. Some of you had acquired for me one of these keys. Previous to this, I had another one in my possession, and for quite a while before it was stolen. It was passed down and safe guarded by my order. This particular artifact is quite ordinary, and is known in some circles as the 'Key of Discreetness', it's a rock with a dull grey glow, and a few runes on it that don't mix and therefore don't work, except within the presence of the other artifacts. This artifact was stolen by a rogue witchling; a traitor to us all.She had traveled with some of us all those years ago and fought by our side. And after helping us defeat the dangers to Waeldeshore, she fled the isle, with quite a few of my belongings, the artifact among them. I do not know her reasons for doing what she did, but I do believe she is consorting with a dangerous guild of magi, housed on this side of the world. They, I believe, have their own reasons for wanting the key, and I'm sure they are plotting and scheming, looking to acquire the other two keys for their own twisted purpose."

More questions came up
-How are we to acquire your artifact? Storm the mages? etc.. And we've yet to hear exactly what the reward is!
-Who is this "Witchling"
-More questions about Genevieve's order came up and then Sakaala asked Ionathan:

"Unless of course you can provide more detail than what is being said already, Hepburnberg." Sakaala directed, having keenly been aware of the behavior that was ushered toward him just a few moments past. She did not truly expect him to know, she simply wished to judge the way their host would react to the misdirection of conversation.

Edit: I hope that sums up the happenings of whats going on with your characters in the house.
The rest is in the background, soon to come into the foreground, but it's not interacting with your characters just yet.
I am so sorry. I will try and get something up today.
I've got goosebumps hehe

I'm stuck working late a couple of days this week, but I will do my best to get a post up soon :)
@vietmykelol I waited tables for the longest time, I know what that's like.
My Valentine's Day was a good one though. The hubby and I don't usually celebrate. But we went to see dead pool this morning *squee*

How was everyone else's weekend?
Genevieve knew she would meet opposition, and be challenged with such queries but this was a bit more than she expected.

"Please, please, one at a time. Unfortunately, I am the last of my order, that I know of. There was a great rift within our ranks, and during those dark times, many had perished. Any survivors went into hiding. I have searched for many years, hoping to find someone, at the very least, a trace of someone. Not all was lost though. Within my search, twenty-five years ago I came upon a group of individuals. So courageous and selfless were they, they risked their lives against forces of evil that most of this world are lucky to have never come upon."

She cleared her throat, at this point finally showing some sort of discomfort. Her face was painted with several different emotions and her voice became filled with such sadness, the room suddenly felt dark and cold. "I have never been able to find any of my brethren, and I can assure you, my abilities are not as vast as they may seem. I am, in no way disappointed. The dangers you all will face, should you choose to help me, may be greater than any of you could imagine. Demons from the darkest pits of the abyss, powerful magi with armies all to themselves. And perhaps - even a deadly assassin, should she show herself. The larger group we may be, the more likely we will be victorious. But I had chosen you lot, mostly because I have no one else to turn to, but also because I know not to underestimate people like you. I almost made that mistake once, and I am glad that I had reconsidered." she glanced at Ionathan with a warm smile. "I have heard stories. Stories of grand adventures, merciless victories... I need great warriors by my side. Yes, there will be a reward, and yes, more than just the honor of a good deed done."

She moved into her seat, a long breath escaped as the weight of her ensemble settled into the large, padded throne. "During my studies, I had learned of three artifacts, or as some texts have named them, keys. Each key has their own attribute or powers, but when one possesses all three keys, they essentially become a god. With their power, they can control the energies of not only this realm, but more importantly, the armies of hell itself. They, I believe, have their own reasons for wanting the key, and I'm sure they are plotting and scheming, looking to acquire the other two keys for their own twisted purpose."

She glanced at Sakaala for a moment before continuing. "I have authority over my own house staff, none other, especially you. And by you, I mean all of you. You had each received an invitation here, perhaps not with clear intent, but with enough information to engage your curiosity. So to say that I have the authority to summon you all is false. It was your own desires, your own choice that led you here. I am simply asking for help on a mission that I cannot complete by myself. So ... will you help me?"

~~~~*~~~~
The rogue paced back and forth for a bit. Her frustration was clouding her judgement by this point, but she couldn't wait around any longer. There were innocents in the mix now that she just could not ignore. She slipped into the shadows and creeped back into town, making her way towards the sage's house once more.
Hey, sorry guys. I was super sick. Still getting over it, but I will get something up before I go to sleep last night.
EDIT-
I hope this answers the questions that were asked and gives enough for you all to piggy back off of, and intrigue you all enough to stick around, despite my absence the past few days. @ArenaSnow, feel free to post something, anything you may have to add on.
Edit - while creating your next post, if you wish to add in any happenings, events, demon sightings, odd occurrences or dangers, anything that would corroborate on Genevieve's claim that not all is as peachy keen as a jelly bean, I'm up for it. Just let me know before :)
If no one posts by the morning, i will have time to get something in.
