Current Unpopular Opinion: "Because I'm bored" is a terrible roleplay pitch.

What games defined your childhood and why? What aspects of them interested you and how have they shaped your taste? And how do they hold up for you?

There are two games that I would say defined my childhood the most, world of warcraft and magic the gathering. I think both had a huge impact in my current love for fantasy and all the possibilities that such worlds can offer, as well as the bringing of mechanical aspects into those worlds. World of Warcraft shaped how I viewed MMORPGs (and still does, as I often find myself disappointed by the differences between wow and other MMOs, as a very casual player) and magic the gathering introduced me to TCGs, one of my most beloved game genres to date. In addition to this, both games served as amazing motivators to learn english and aided me in the endeavor, which really helped me be even a step above my classmates (in this one area).

There were other games I played as a child that I remember- like zoo tycoon - and some even that I still love to play to this day -such as starcraft- but those two were definitely the ones that had the most impact on who I am today.

Even today, magic the gathering remains my favorite TCG and world of warcraft my favorite MMORPG. However, my ability to play either is vastly limited. I simply can't afford to pay wow's subscription and my lack of friends who also play TCG limits to playing MTG arena, which while I think it is very well done isn't friendly to my more casual sort of playing, effectively forcing me into a constant battle with meta regardless of the mode, and I just don't like to have to play games that way.
My laptop definitely. While it didn't come on Christmas day, I got it from a combination of saved up Christmas present money and negotation with my parents.
The main book I'm currently reading is "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"

Hello everyone, how's it going?

Name's Idea, but ya can call me whatever ya want cause I like nicknames. I've been a forum roleplayer for about 7-8 years now, on a variety of websites, and dabbled in roleplay in other platforms as well. While more experimental at first, I've come to settle into a more slow-paced heavily detailed style (by the standards I've encountered at least), I don't mind waiting for a month if I have to, but I always want those posts long and juicy. I am also a passionate worldbuilder, especially when it comes to magic systems, and a planner by nature (I prefer a well-planned-out skeleton for a scene or a plot that gets brought to life as it is fleshed out by the actual posts, over a parade of surprises). Genre-wise I dabble in various kinds of fantasy (high, urban, science...), and other genres like game-esque, slice of life, school, and the occasional romance. I also enjoy some anime genres like isekais and magical girls. All this said, my absolute favorite genre is comedy.

I mostly play freeform, but I also enjoy D&D (5e) and Open Legend, provided it is done in play-by-post.

More about my style, preferences etc... if I decide to make a 1x1 interest check.

Now, regarding hobbies and interests, mine consist of:
*Roleplaying (duh)
*Writing Short Stories
*Making Gifs and Memes
*TCGs (Like Magic the Gathering, Shadowverse and Hearthstone)
*Worldbuilding (raw worldbuilding independent of a specific roleplay)
*Starcraft
*World of Warcraft
*Consuming industrial amounts of anime and manga
*Philosophy

It is nice to meet you all! Let me know if there is anything you'd like to ask me :)
