I think it is entirely reasonable to have a judge who is not participating if available (such as myself). If they aren't available to make a ruling, say within X amount of time, then it defaults to another who may be in the tournament but not in the fight.

Just an option.
Looks good, but where do the characters come in?

Mostly they'd be taking on bounties from the main city and heading out into the outlands to either reclaim territory from the demons, guard a caravan, etc.
What about gunblades? Revolver with a sword attached to it. A sword with the characteristic to shoot in close range, especially made for close combat (sword) and revolver for long range combat. We could have both weapons modified as one.

That would be perfectly fine. One of my characters uses something like that themselves.
I do a lot of math when I deal with combat. It gives me incredible consistency with my decisions.

Math OP.
Just let me know if you'd like my services.
I can judge. I have no interest to participate at this stage anyway.

So things like revolvers, break over shotguns, and things like that? Would things like swords or axes work too or would fighting a demon at close range be too much for normal humans?

I'm fine with melee weapons as well. It'd just be unconventional. It'd work fine on demons, but also remember a lot of people carry firearms not just for demons but for the other people.

But yes, revolvers would be more along the line of what I am thinking in terms of weapons.
I could join. How many free spots to join are there?

There is currently no limit on the number of spots. The more the merrier.
It is a fictional world. I never named this one, so I haven't gotten that yet.

Demons can vary in shape and size. There is tons of flexibility to this. A lot of the smaller ones tend to run on all fours (as in the intro). But there also massive juggernauts of creatures.

Think more old western style for weapons. The rest of the tech would be more on the modern end of things.

Magic is generally used to augment things. There will be some more with this story wise. Small scope fire conjuring, using wind to knock people back, etc.
This is a remake of a thread I've done before (many, many (many) years ago).

The general premise of the thread is world that has been constantly ravaged by demons. People live primarily in a few larger cities protected by energy fields that prevent the demons from getting in. These fields are powered by crystals that are closely guarded by the theocratic government due to their use as a power source and in magecraft. There are a few smaller outposts and towns in areas, primarily for mining or farming. These are usually only reached by trains, which are heavily armored.

However, for those willing to brave the wild, barren expanse there is money and power to be had. Players can take on the roll of a demon/bounty hunter in this Western style fantasy.

Magecraft is generally very limited in scope without the usage of a crystal.
