Personality: Calm and confident. When not on a mission Mao is usually quite lazy and carefree, content to waste away his days doing nothing more than staring at the sky and watching the clouds. While working his personality is a little more serious, though for the most part still laidback and carefree; truly, it would take a real disaster to break his at times quite lackadaisical attitude.
History: As a member of the Kagami clan Mao was raised from a young age to be highly proficient in all manner of sealing jutsu. The clan was originally established to protect a highly powerful artifact known as the Kagami Mirror. The mirror was said to be capable of allowing even a complete novice to perform the most highly advanced and difficult sealing techniques as if they were nothing. In addition, the mirror itself was capable of being used offensively as a method of binding those trapped within its effects to another dimension.
As a genin at the academy Mao initially did quite poorly due to his lack of knowledge about tai- and ninjutsu. This initial learning gap put him at a huge disadvantage, as his early years had prepared him primarily for a non-combat role. Through struggle and effort he was eventually able to refine his knowledge of fuinjutsu and, along with a new proficiency in taijutsu, transform his inability into an advantage.
During his time as a chunin Mao continued to cultivate the sealing jutsu he'd created, finding clever ways to mix it into his own taijutsu style. To amplify the effectiveness of the seals he began binding them to various weapons for use in close quarters thereby removing the need for slow hand seals on most of his techniques.
Before becoming a jonin Mao spent some time with the Yamanaka clan as a learning aid attached to some of their interrogation squads. While in this capacity he learned to use his sealing arts for interrogation, making the lives of the Yamanaka examiners much easier. Although this was not particularly helpful in combat, the knowledge he gained here led him to shift his style away from direct lethality, modifying his techniques towards disability and capture: a live enemy could tell you a lot more than a dead one.
Upon reaching the rank of jonin Mao was pleased to hear he'd been selected rather quickly for the honor of leading a genin squad. He looks forward to this opportunity as a chance to mentor and shape the young ninja of the village.
Weapons/Items:Weapon: Kunai
Description: A set of general, all-purpose knives that have been sharpened to a razor’s edge. Able to cut though anything but the thickest armor, they can also serve as makeshift projectiles and feature circular metal rings on the back-end where items, messages, or explosives can be attached.

Description: An assortment of tiny needles that can be thrown to a great distance and with great accuracy. Generally used when the target needs to be incapacitated due to their ability to activate pressure points or when a kunai would cause to much blood.
Weapon: Shuriken
Description: Tiny throwing stars. Shuriken can be made of many kinds of materials depending on their purpose ranging from steel to iron to wood. Mostly used as an anti-personnel weapon, they can either be thrown directly at the target or stuck into the surrounding foliage in conjunction with other tools to create traps.

Description: A set of two weapons that, when carried, appear to be nothing more than a pair of sticks. A simple release switch exists at the butt of the weapon that, once activated, releases the weapon’s blade and turns it into a sort of sickle-esque instrument. These weapons serve as the primary means of overcoming armored opponents as their sharp points and long reach are designed to generate enough force to punch through resistant materials. They can be attached to a chain to give them a greater reach and more penetration potential.

Description: A claw made of durable steel. It is lightweight enough to be used without much slowing the strikes or attacks of its possessor. The razor thin edges can be easily coated with a variety of poisons to enhance its lethality or otherwise incapacitate the opponent.
Weapon: Short Bow
Description: A short bow of a stable wood construction. The front side of the weapon has been outfitted with a thin layer of aluminum plating which, while still malleable enough to allow the bow to be drawn also provides it with the ability to ward off light melee strikes and long-distance projectiles.

Description: A strong length of high density steel which is used primarily for trap construction in conjunction with other tools or techniques. It is especially useful to Mao for its inclusion in a number of sealing techniques.

Description: A shortsword that has a simple one-edged straight design. It is built for speed and performs most amiably the function of impaling. Although it can also slash or hack, these functions are not at its core purpose.

A relatively unknown member of the Kagami clan, Mao was trained from a young age in his clan's unique style of fuinjustu. Usually these techniques include some form of physical limiting such as cutting off chakra to specific body parts or even removing the opponent's control over their own limbs. To augment this style of combat Mao has focused heavily on the development of his taijutsu and weapon combat, and summoning. When using weapons he often imbues the blades of his tools with fuinjutsu seals.
Mao's place in a ninja squad is usually as a supporting member who seeks to restrict or wear down the opponent while his teammates work towards achieving a finishing blow. Outside of combat his various sealing techniques can work to aid interrogation teams seeking to extract potent information.

Traits/Abilities of Kekkei Genkai: The reason behind the Kagami clan's gold iris'. This Kekkei Genkai activates in response to genjutsu launched towards the wielder, negating out of hand a wide variety of lesser techniques. Against high level genjutsu this Kekkei Genkai offers an additional layer of defense against mental assaults, allowing the user to make a concerted effort to resist the genjutsu's effects.

Description: A relatively simple jutsu which, when used effectively, can have devastating effects on the opponent. The jutsu is typically used to limit the use of one of the opponent's limbs, cutting off chakra and nerve circulation/contact. The seals for this technique art incredibly easy to transcribe and basically every piece of Mao's equipment has this seal placed on it in addition to others. Used most effectively with ranged weapons such as arrows and shuriken or during the opening stages of an ambush.
Weakness: Cannot be removed by the victim but is incredibly easy for others to remove as all that is required to break the seal is for outside chakra to be pumped in, kickstarting circulation back through the affected limb.

Description: Cuts off chakra and nerve circulation/contact throughout the body while simultaneously placing a locked barrier on the victim's conscious mind, placing them in a permanent coma. The mental barrier is rigged against outside tampering and, if not disabled in the proper manner, is capable of completely disintegrating the opponent's mental abilities rendering them nothing more than a thoughtless vegetable. This technique is most typically used against high-value targets that might be in control of valuable intelligence.
Weakness:The technique itself is fairly advanced and therefore cannot be inscribed upon Mao's weaponry.

Description: A massive avalanche of webbing is released from Jorogumo's abdomen. Initially the webbing is wet and fluid, allowing it to flow like a large wave across the surrounding area, making movement across the ground extremely difficult. After about a minute the webbing begins to lose its fluidity, setting in with the viscosity of wet cement. The webbing remains this way for the duration of combat, trapping anyone who steps on it. It's semi-wet nature means that it is at least somewhat resistant to fire release jutsu.
Weakness: Water jutsu can be used to redirect the initial flow, though, once it hardens the webbing is very difficult to remove.

Description: Used in conjunction with Rain of Spiders as the finisher to the combo, Descendant poison wave causes the individual spiders released by the aforementioned technique to explode into a rain of toxic poison and webbing. These explosions also create small clouds of toxic gas which persist for about twenty seconds.
Weakness: Air release can be used to counter the poison clouds and water release the webbing, at least until it hardens.
History/Personality: An extremely prideful and arrogant being, Jorogumo does not lend her services lightly. She maintains an attitude which is at times completely stand-offish, but which also melds naturally with Mao's light-hearted nature. The two act as foils to one another personality wise and this is why they work so well together.
Jorogumo herself is part of a long lineage of giant spiders who serve the various ninja of the world. Their signature techniques usually involve the themes of restriction and poisoning which also work wwell with Mao's own style which seeks to wear the opponent down. Mao first made his contract with Jorogumo during his coming of age ceremony.
