"Romance, huh?" Katsuko mumbled to himself when Mikoto reflected on the brief story. Of course Katsuko would disagree with that label. He didn't find his tale romantic in the least. He wasn't here to avenge his father, certainly. He wasn't even here because he was expected to be. Though, since it was now on his mind, Katsuko briefly wondered why he really joined the Red Sages. But that was something to ponder at another time. He had to focus most of his attention on Mikoto so as to memorize his story. "Amatsurahashi," he repeated, nailing the boy's surname on the first try. "Got it."

He continued to eat as Mikoto explained how his life was boring because of the Confederation and that was why he wanted to bring them down. Simple enough reason. Very simple. Katsuko was too distracted to hear his exact words when he mumbled under his breath, but he heard something and gave Mikoto a skeptical glare in return. After a moment of silence, broken by the younger lad bringing up strategy, Katsuko took one last bite and finally finished off his tray of food. "It's not that complicated to work with me, really," he began, leaning back in his chair and relaxing. "You've just gotta look at the battlefield like it has certain zones, and we should be sure to never be in the same zone unless there is an emergency. Something like that. It's mostly instinct, you'll understand when the situation comes up."

"But as for what we're doing... Let's just say we got the short stick, yeah. We have two objectives. Firstly we're going to nick some old blueprints for the sewer system under Old Amegakure. I've got a good idea of where they'll be, but that doesn't mean it's gonna be easy. The plans themselves aren't super valuable to the Confederation, but they are located in a vault that is full of stuff they do find some importance in. So there will be guards. Probably a dozen or so enemies, as an early estimate."
At this point Katsuko grabbed his empty tray and stood from his seat. "I'll explain the rest to you during the mission. Our objectives don't require as much planning as they require swift action, you know what I'm saying?" With his brief mission synopsis complete, the captain turned away to return the empty and surprisingly clean tray. If Mikoto is like me then I understand why Seijo figured the two of us would be enough. Still, he might cause some problems in the end if he can't handle his share. I should conserve energy on the chance that he gets taken down and I have to carry out the rest by myself. With a sigh he returned to the table Mikoto was at but didn't sit down. "My only advice for when we fight together is to avoid looking at me. Not that I'm particularly distracting, but I don't want to accidentally knock you out. Any tricks up your sleeve I should be worried about?"
Ward HQ

It was getting close to that time of day. The time of day when the Wards would be given their schedules for their duties as para-human protectors. It was Alex's least favorite part of his job, however. He would like nothing more than to have unrestricted freedom to patrol and pursue criminals as he pleases, something he would abuse to maximize his "showtime" if left up to him. But instead there was a much more weighted responsibility for the teenage Wards. They were given rules, regulations, orders, schedules. It was a pain, especially so for Alex due to his current probation status, but it was the price to pay if he wanted to play on the world stage. If he wasn't with the PRT, the "good guys", then he was a bad guy. And Alex couldn't be the bad guy. He defeats the bad guys.

And so here he is dressed in his costume that goes with his superhero alias, Chroma, heading back to his dormitory after a day of classes. Apparently the PRT values education. One of the men in charge, a guy who was barely in his 20's, was leaving the Ward dormitories as Alex entered. His eyes watched Nathan as they passed, waiting for him to show some sign of acknowledgement. But it never came. The teenager stopped and turned around, watching Nathan's back as he departed. "How rude," he grumbled aloud, letting out a sigh and shaking his head. "I guess those officials aren't friendly under any circumstances after all." As he walked into the main recreational room of the hexagonal dorm, Alex removed the masquerade mask from his face and held onto it with his left hand. "So let's see who gets to be my sidekick today..."

Once inside his room he was quick to set down his mask and pick up the sheet of paper that detailed his instructions for the day. "Four thirty, huh. Traffic hours. Bor-ring! But it seems Phoebe will be coming along. I suppose I should be calling her Scarlet, actually. But this might be a problem," Alex continued to talk to himself, sitting down on the bed as he continued glancing over the paper in his hands. "She isn't much of a sidekick type. If anything does happen she might try to steal my thunder. Not to mention that she'll get more attention than me naturally for being a girl. The people love heroines. What to do, what to do..." The teenager began rhythmically tapping his left foot on the floor as he contemplated how he would orchestrate today's patrol. "I suppose my only option is to be vigilant and enthusiastic. I just have to outperform her if the need arises."

"But we're gonna be watching rush hour traffic... Nothing is gonna happen..."

The red-haired jounin kept his eyes closed as the meeting progressed. Anzai's words bothered him but he didn't let on. Not the subtle insult towards him, which he didn't even pick up on, but suggesting that Seijo could beat Yakoul. We don't need her dying on us, he thought to himself, but otherwise just continued listening to the meeting. It wasn't until there was a loud clap of a clipboard landing in front of him.

“Katsuko! Congratulations. You have two missions. Don't ask me how or why - just get it done. Mikoto is with you. Try not to get him killed. You have a dangerous mission in one of these two, perfect for you.”

Now he finally opened his eyes, moving one of his hands forward to pick up the two mission briefings and bring them up to his face. This allowed him to better see it as well as keep anyone else from looking over his shoulder at the details. "Hmmm..." After a brief moment of scanning the papers he lowered the clipboard away from his face. "Alright. I get it. Give me the easy missions." Katsuko smirked with that, giving the Lady Commander a cocky wink. He knew full well that she didn't give him easy missions, but he wasn't about to let that put a hamper on his confidence.

He then stood up from his chair, keeping a good grip on the clipboard as he exited the meeting room. The others might've seen it as disrespectful to leave before Seijo adjourned the conference but he had all the information she was going to give him, and he gave her all the information he was going to give her. There was no point hanging around longer. But on his way to the mess hall another person with red hair decided to catch up to Katsuko. It was Mikoto, whom he was going to be working with later. In fact it would be only the two of them in the team, to perform two missions by themselves. A daunting task to some but not to Katsuko. "Yeah, I suppose we ought to get to know each other," Katsuko agreed, though he didn't seem nearly as invested or enthusiastic about it as Mikoto was.

He first grabbed a tray of mostly meat and some bread. Protein and carbohydrates, as Katsuko looked at it. Not the most balanced meal but it served the purpose he needed. Only after sitting down and beginning to eat did he strike up conversation with Mikoto again. "You've probably heard of me at some point. Name's Katsuko Moto, but you can just call me Kat. I don't really care what people call me, to be honest." After taking another bite of the pork he procured, he continued. "I come from Konoha, the last Hidden Village to fall to the Confederation. Hated them from the start. My father was a Red Sage from the very beginning, but I didn't join until after they killed him. I've worked for Tarara and Seijo ever since." Now would be a good time to begin boasting, but the rebel captain seemed more interested in eating. His battle earlier wasn't particularly intensive and he didn't do all that much, but in his line of work he always expends a lot of physical energy and thus needs to eat regularly and with a certain diet. "So what's your story... Mikoto, yeah?"

The meeting progressed pretty much how Mirai expected it would. Yakoul would swear and say horrible, vulgar things over and over again while barely getting to the point. It was difficult to decipher what he was saying because Mirai didn't like his harshness, but in short it was more of a rally than giving out any defined objectives. Basically they were going to war with the Red Sages. The idea of going to war didn't bother Mirai as much as the badge that was thrown at her by the cat-like warmonger. "Wha-?" She caught the plastic badge in her real hand, bringing it up to her face to inspect it. It was plastic and unimpressive, but it meant that he was putting her (along with someone else) in charge of the patrols. She was holding a physical form of responsibility.

I've never been in charge of others before. Did he really just throw these out randomly or does he know something that I don't? The blue-haired teenager fixed the badge to her chest before returning her attention to the meeting. As it concluded the boss decided to drag Kanata away for something secretive. Personally, Mirai didn't want to be anywhere alone with Yakoul because of how creepy, vulgar, and violent he is. But Kanata had no choice in the matter and departed, saying that she would call her if she needed help dealing with Yakoul's weirdness. "Huh, I don't remember giving her my number..." Mirai thought aloud, standing up from her seat almost in sync with Aneko. "I don't recall you giving her your number either," Aneko confirmed. "Oh well. Father could get me her phone number easy enough. Kanata Amatsu-... Amatsu-... Her family name is really long. I just have to remember that part I guess." The two exited the meeting room, all the while Mirai adjusted the badge she pinned to her shirt earlier. It was crooked and that bothered her slightly. After a moment of trying to line it up to make it parallel to the ground, Aneko stopped the girl and did it herself perfectly in one try. "Thanks, Aneko. We should get lunch. I don't know if any businesses are open right now though, after the attack earlier and all..."

As they left the meeting Mirai noticed a teenage boy ahead of them talking to himself. He seemed down about something, but Mirai wasn't exactly good at comforting people nor did she really want to put herself out there to try and make friends. But since he was walking a bit slow she and Aneko would have to pass him. Which was a bit awkward for Mirai, though she was fairly certain that Aneko didn't care much about brooding teenagers in the way. The two girls separated and walked past Tatsuya, one on each side, before walking together again once they were in front of him. "Surely there's some place open. The owners have to make money somehow. It's been over an hour so we can find a place to eat. Will you be using your father's card or do you have money on you?" "I think I should use my father's card, just so he can see that I'm doing okay and know where I am. Don't feel like calling him and telling him what happened just yet. He'll find out about the war tomorrow, probably." "Understood."

Considering he was one of the last, if not the last, to leave the ruined festival it was only natural that Katsuko was the last to arrive at the headquarters. There were a number of casualties, for sure, but it wasn't debatable that the Red Sages had inflicted much greater damage to the Confederation than the other way around. But still he could see that the number of shinobi present was smaller than he had hoped. They probably lost a dozen men, at least. Maybe even twenty. But he decided not to dwell on it. People died all the time. He's seen many faces come and go since he joined the Red Sages a few years ago. It was the nature of their war that they would have casualties.

Rather than go directly to Seijo to report in, he decided to take a shower and change his clothes. By the time he was freshened up he was no longer wearing a red jacket and jeans but instead a black t-shirt and sweatpants. Still didn't put on any shoes as it was clear he was trying to relax. The burning sensation in his chakra system still persisted but it was dwindling down over time. Not that he was going to tell anyone about his problem anyways, so it was good that the effect wasn't permanent. Eventually Seijo called for a meeting, demanding everyone present to attend. He already had a good idea on what she wanted to talk about and what she was planning, but still showed up anyways.

"Yo," he greeted, entering the room and taking a quick glance around. Anzai was here, surprisingly. The blind jounin didn't participate in the Festival raid, but Katsuko wasn't about to criticize him for it. It was handled just fine as it was. Katsuko sat down in a chair near Seijo, but before he could relax into it he decided to take up her offer on reporting things. "I held off the shinobi before leaving, that's why I left late," he explained. That much was already evident and Seijo could've guessed it. He lowered his voice for the next part though. "By the way... you shouldn't try to fight Yakoul Kakariko in the future. Just fall back if he ever challenges you." With his message conveyed, Katsuko finally leaned back in his chair and put his hands behind his head. This was not only a comfortable position but had the slight benefit of showing off his muscles. "That's all." He glanced backwards briefly, to look at the pictures on the wall, before returning his gaze forward and closing his eyes. Not that he was going to try to sleep, but that he knew he could relax and listen at the same time. Odds are if he actually fell asleep Seijo would sucker-punch him or something, and he didn't want to test that theory either way.

Mirai Yumiya

It seemed that it was finally over. Everyone, or at least everyone around the destroyed compound right now, was okay. Aside from the dead commander, of course. Miria was slightly bothered when Kanata clung to her after the danger passed, but she thought that perhaps the girl had some kind of anxiety attack. After all she could've died a moment ago and Mirai's robot arm wasn't exactly gentle. Mirai herself was definitely scared earlier but that came to pass with the end of the battle. However it wasn't smooth sailing just yet as Yakoul announced he would punish the two girls and then threw the commander's corpse at them. Rather than move out of the way and scream like Kanata, Mirai stood her ground and raised her robotic arm in defense.

The body slammed into it, staggering Mirai a little bit before falling to the ground at the girls' feet. "That's sick..." Mirai was no stranger to death and she wasn't squeamish like Kanata was, but it was still unsettling to have a dead body thrown at her. But it was from their own general. What could they do about it? Complain? Who could they complain to? He stood at the top of the hierarchy, there was very few people above Yakoul and her words would never reach them. She just had to grit her teeth and bear it. "Yeah, I'll help you with the body." Mirai grabbed the dead commander by his shins and lifted him up in synch with the red-haired girl. I guess this is fair punishment. Just moving a body to pay for being useless...

"Yeah, that bruise won't be going away for a while," Aneko said, lowering Mirai's shirt now that she inspected the blue mark just beneath her ribs. The teenager and her servant were back in their hotel room now. The older woman had a bandage wrapped around her head but Mirai didn't need anything of the sort. "We're lucky that he hit us low. A little higher and our ribs would've been pushed in our lungs." "Ew, please don't talk about it like that." The blue-haired teen adjusted her shirt once Aneko let go, moving towards the window to look out. "We are lucky though, Mirai. We were in the wrong place at the wrong time. If any of those rebels wanted they could've-" "Please! Stop." The servant lady let out a defeated sigh before flopping onto her bed, laying down to stare at the ceiling. "Sorry, I didn't mean to snap. It's just that I feel terrible about it. We didn't do anything. I couldn't do anything. It was humiliating..."

Aneko kept quiet, continuing to stare at the ceiling. "Maybe I'm not really cut out to be a shinobi. It took me so long to become chuunin and I barely got it. It was only because of father getting me this fake arm that I even became slightly competent. If I keep trying I'll probably just die like a dog." "But didn't you save that one girl you met?" Mirai looked back at Aneko, confused. "I saved her?" "Well yeah. If one of those rocks hit her she would've been a goner." The younger one pondered over this for a moment, looking back towards the window to look at the smoking village again. "We should probably go to that meeting now, Mirai." "Yeah, let's go."

The two girls entered the meeting room silently. They were fairly early, as the meeting had just began judging by how few people had arrived so far. Mirai was quick to spot the red hair of her new friend Kanata. She walked across the room quietly, taking a seat next to Kanata without making a sound. Aneko took the seat on Mirai's other side. Only after the two were situated that Mirai spoke up. "Hey, Kanata," she greeted, in case the girl didn't detect the two sit down. "This is Aneko Toyama, a family friend of mine." At the mention of her name, Aneko gave a slight bow in Kanata's direction but otherwise said nothing. "By the way, I never caught your full name. I'm Mirai Yumiya, of Amegakure. Where are you from?" It seemed that Mirai was mostly ignoring Yakoul and the meeting itself, though one couldn't tell whether that was intentional or if she was just caught up in being friendly with her first real friend.
Katsuko Moto

This guy... Katsuko kept his gaze firmly attached to Yakoul in front of him. He knew the longer he remained the more enemies he would have, but his attention still focused on the cat-man. I haven't even fought him before and I can already tell. His chakra, his presence, his movements... He would beat Seijo if he felt like it. He's dangerous. Something I will have to account for. Katsuko's gaze briefly shifted around, looking back towards the two girls and then over to the silver-haired jonin woman before doing a general sweep of the area to land back at Yakoul. Right now there was only four enemies, a number he could manage. Then again he might not, depending on the true extent of the androgynous cat's abilities.

His chance came when Yakoul backed away and announced his intention to let him go free. Obviously there was a good chance it was a lie, but the fact he moved to a distance where Katsuko could easily manage an escape is what prompted him to actually leave now. Everyone else was gone, the enemies would soon regroup, this was his last shot at escaping. Even if Yakoul wouldn't pursue there were plenty of others that might try to chase or track him. "For how much you talk you don't really say much," Katsuko said aloud, a cocky grin forming on his face to finally break the past minute of seriousness. "You might be able to intimidate weaker men, but the next time we meet I won't hesitate. Your psychotic reign is coming to an end."

Katsuko jumped into the air straight up, pulling out the scroll from his belt. In a large poof of smoke he had summoned back his gigantic club, Saihyousen. Time to cover my escape. As he began to descend back to the ground he lifted the massive weapon over his head, timing his downward swing to smash the courtyard before he would land. The resulting impact was more akin to an explosion than someone slamming a club against the ground. Stone debris and dust was rocketed into the air in a thin cloud, the ground even shook like an earthquake, and a massive crater was all that remained of the area in front of the destroyed building. Katsuko jumped out of the dust cloud, his weapon already sealed away again, and landed on a nearby rooftop. The Confederate shinobi around ground zero would likely be stunned and incapable of following him now, with a few possible exceptions. But it was good enough. His golden eyes returned to their red color and he began leaping from rooftop to rooftop on his way out of the village. I won't say anything about what I saw, Katsuko decided as he fled the scene. It will only create fear. I'll just say that Yakoul is formidable and that nobody should engage him. No one needs to know the depth of his power if they aren't going to fight him. I think it's a him. He talked about those girls like a guy would... The thought was pointless and he shook his head, returning his focus on catching up with the rest of the Red Sages that had retreated. He wasn't going to report anything but it was best to regroup anyways. He kept a stern face, hiding the pain he was feeling throughout his body. It would seem that he couldn't steal Yakoul's chakra without consequences. Sapping someone dry is normally fatal for them, but on him it might just be fatal for me.

Mirai Yumiya

Alright, so Kanata had a plan. Between Yakoul and Kanata, Mirai felt that nothing could go wrong now. The enemy seemed strong but they couldn't be that strong. As their general moved away and gave the red-haired rebel a chance to flee, Mirai gripped Aneko's sword tighter and moved her robot arm towards her shuriken pouches slowly. "Good plan. He can't handle all of us at once," Mirai spoke, though just loud enough for Kanata to hear. She didn't want to be too loud and accidentally antagonize Katsuko into attacking them when the possibility existed of him leaving without hurting anyone else. When he jumped into the air is the exact moment that Mirai's confidence a moment before drained, the actual prospect of having to fight draining her of her will to do it. Then he summoned that thing again. "Get down!" Mirai had already seen a glimpse of what he could do with such a monstrosity and didn't intend to feel the effects firsthand.

Instinctively she reached out to Kanata with her robotic arm, grabbing the other girl by the shoulder and pulling her backwards and to the ground. Kanata wasn't there earlier and may not had been able to realize what was happening in time. But Mirai was able to bring herself and Kanata to the ground by the time the explosive impact occurred. The ground shook violently and their backs were peppered with tiny rocks, but larger chunks of debris flew overhead. Those bigger stones may have hit them if they didn't get down, especially since they would've lost their balance if they were standing and been unable to dodge. Once Mirai felt no more pebbles hitting her she released her iron grip on Kanata and looked back. Dust was slowly drifting to the ground, there was a large hole in the compound, and the Red Sage guy was nowhere to be seen. "I'm glad they didn't fight," Mirai mumbled to herself aloud, picking herself back up. After a quick glance around, just to be sure there were no enemies, she stretched her robot arm out to assist Kanata in getting back up.

"Those rocks over there could've hurt. We're lucky we didn't get hit..." Then her eyes drifted to the other side of the new crater. The unconscious Aneko seemed both unharmed and slightly less unconscious. The servant woman began to stir, slowly sitting upright and putting a hand to her head. So that's how she got knocked out. She landed on her head. The blue-haired teenager let out a sigh of relief and turned her attention back to Kanata. "Do you think... that we'll get in trouble? I mean... we didn't protect the general in the end..."
Mirai Yumiya

Things just kept getting worse and worse. Mirai knew Yakoul was a strong person, he could definitely take on either of the Red Sage leaders or perhaps even both, but he kept screwing around with the two girls instead. Meanwhile the barrier had come down and rebels were hunting down the general they were supposed to be protecting. She wanted to voice her complaint to Yakoul, but she kept her mouth shut out of fear. Kanata didn't seem to have the same inhibitions, but one person testing a homicidal psychopath was more than enough in Mirai's book. But it seemed that they wouldn't be able to stand on the sidelines as spectators any longer.

When Mirai looked over towards Katsuko again after he addressed them, she felt something was wrong. Something was wrong with his eyes and something was wrong with her body. Genjutsu? She quickly looked away, facing Kanata instead. The sinking feeling had vanished, but Mirai began to realize what happened. My chakra was just being used. I haven't even used any of it yet and I can feel that it isn't full anymore. Can he really take my chakra with just his eyes? How are we supposed to fight him now? Yakoul began moving forward now, which Mirai immediately noticed. How can the cat-man bear this? He's looking right at the guy. Is he insane? He'll lose before the fight even begins if his chakra is completely drained. Yet their fearless leader showed no signs of backing down. His erratic behavior was admirable, to a degree. Mirai found herself envious of his courage and confidence.

But they still had to fight. The Red Sage's Lady Commander just stole the life of the general they were supposed to protect. They were trying to retreat, to flee. They had simply come into the city in a storm of blood and steel and now wish to leave as if nothing happened? It made Mirai feel not only helpless but angry. She almost didn't even notice Kanata introduce herself but snapped back to reality just in time. "Mirai," she introduced. She went to shake hands, as would be polite to do so, but stopped herself midway. Her real hand was holding a sword and it was her prosthetic that had reached forward. She quietly abandoned the idea, withdrawing her metal arm and focusing her attention forward again. Rather than looking at Katsuko she instead focused her gaze at the ground in front of his feet, near Yakoul. "I can use shuriken to distract him so Yakoul can get an advantage. But they seem to be... not fighting. I don't know if launching the first attack is wise when we already lost a general and another is standing face-to-face with one of the rebels..." The blue-haired girl looked back to Kanata. "D-d-... do you have any ideas?" It felt awkward to rely on someone new. Usually it was Aneko that came up with plans for Mirai, but that wasn't an option right now. She would have to rely on her own ability... but mostly on Kanata's ability.

Katsuko Moto

The red-haired man stood his ground after Seijo gave the command to attack. Unlike his boss, he didn't have any particular means for a ranged attack. And he wasn't about to jump into her attack to get a hit in on the silver-haired woman. At the same time, he wasn't going to leap towards Yakoul either. Could he defeat Yakoul? Yes. Could Yakoul defeat him? Also yes. He was confident and proud, but he wasn't about to throw caution into the wind. All he needed to do was keep Seijo alive and allow the Red Sages to complete their assassination. He wouldn't dance to the enemy's tune, they'd have to dance to his. But something began to bother Katsuko very quickly as events unfolded around him.

What is this guy? he wondered. Most people look away after being confronted with his Kekkei Genkai. It was natural, as nobody wanted to be drained of their chakra. The two girls looked away, for example. But Yakoul didn't. He stared right back. And that made Katsuko uncomfortable. He knows exactly what I'm doing and doesn't care. And his chakra... it isn't human. I've never felt anything like this before. It's almost... intoxicating. But at the same time it feels... bad. His serious expression changed into a clear frown as Yakoul began to approach. Only the man was walking forward at a casual pace. He is goading me to lose ground. There is no way he would think that I can't annihilate him if he gets careless, yet he's pretending to be careless. His body tensed up as Yakoul drew close. It was only when he was just out of striking distance that he stopped. I can't read this guy.

Katsuko remained silent as the Confederate general continued to spout vulgar nonsense. That was until he voiced that he would change his foe from Seijo to... some guy that Katsuko couldn't really remember the name of. It didn't matter who he selected, it was the gesture that was important. The meaning behind his action. He was playing around. "Oi," Katsuko finally spoke up, to get Yakoul's attention. "You're forgetting something very important: you aren't getting past me." Anyone spectating would feel the tension of two intimidating enemies facing each other down at an incredibly close range. "We have already won this battle. If you take another step forward it will be your last."

I have no idea if he will try or not. This man, I think it's a man, reveals nothing of his thoughts. Maybe he doesn't even think. If he moves I'll have no choice but to fight, but he'll expect... a kick. A punch would be too obvious, a kick would be deceptive enough. If I want to end him in one blow, before he can get a chance to fight back, I'll have to outsmart him before over-powering him.
Katsuko's mind began racing. Normally he would never have to think so much about how to fight. It was always natural, an instinct. He would follow his own flow and defeat everything in his path. But this enemy was different. The way it talked, the way it walked, the way it thought, they all fought against his instincts. He felt that his natural fighting style would lead to failure with Yakoul. That this was an opponent who could exploit his weaknesses. A battle of strength was his domain, but he knew that he would enter a battle of wits if the crazy cat bastard didn't heed his threat. Worst-case scenario: I just have to bide some time for Seijo to escape. I can get away by myself easy enough if I can avoid being wounded. There is only one threat to me here and he's standing in front of me. Just out of reach... The young man shifted slightly, putting more of his weight on his supporting leg rather than his forward one. He prepared to dodge, in the instance that the cat-man or any of his allies would try to attack. He didn't know of Yakoul's abilities or style, but he hoped it went the other way as well. That would be the only way his plan could work.
@SavatoSomeone please make some kind of really loud noise so Yakoul doesn't follow me and kill me. I dun wanna die before page 4.

Don't worry, he's gonna get occupied really quick.
Mirai Yumiya

The blue-haired girl let out a sigh of relief when Kanata confirmed that she could rescue Aneko. That was good. Mirai would have a very hard time living without her servant. She didn't know how to cook, clean, or manage time. She was surprisingly dependent on another person for someone who was pretty much an adult, though not just physically but also emotionally. Aneko was like a mother to her, or at least more of a mother than her own mother was. The wave of relief vanished when the demon mask clattered nearby. It was the one that the man who defeated her wore. It was creepy, even though the mask itself was silly and probably not actually scary to even children. And then for some reason Kanata decided to keep it, stowing it away. "Why are you..."

Then she felt the weight and pressure on her metal shoulder. A chilling and creepy presence had appeared behind the two girls. When Mirai actually looked back to see the source of the voice mocking them, she instantly recognized who it was. "Y-yakoul-sama," she let out. The strange, cat-like man(?) was one of the famous generals of the Confederation. It was his army that defeated Konohagakure and solidified the Confederation's status as the global power. It was a powerful creature, but this was the first time Mirai got to meet it in person. And something the history lessons never taught was that Yakoul was very creepy. "A s-speech? Why not just... beat them?"

It was a weak suggestion, but it was the only thing Mirai could think up on the spot. She wasn't good with people, let alone with bolstering morale like a general must have to be. There wasn't much advice she could give him, though she wasn't really aware that he didn't expect anything from her. Once he let go of her shoulder she felt the wave of anxiety leave with his hand. His presence was something terrifying, even if they were working together. Apparently Kanata was a lot more uppity once she was free of Yakoul's grip, vocalizing her offense to his remark about her lack of bust. I'm thankful I don't have to deal with being too small or too big, Mirai briefly thought to herself, but dispelled the thoughts as the mist was raised. It was time for action. Yakoul would fight, Mirai and Kanata would regroup with more loyal shinobi after rescuing Aneko, and they would beat the Red Sages back with the combined might of the Confederation's stationed troops. "Let's do this..."

Katsuko Moto

Turns out he didn't need to find any tags. Or rather: Katsuko didn't have to find anything. Yuudai made his way into the building and was wreaking havoc quite nicely judging by the tremors. That barrier will come down any second at this rate. That sleazy bastard that killed Tarara is gonna get it. Even better the mist began to rise, allowing Katsuko to look back towards the entrance of the building and get a gauge of how the battlefield had changed since he could last see. Firstly, Seijo had engaged with a single Confederation kunoichi (she better not lose). Secondly, there was two girls and a cat-like person preparing some kind of attack against the Red Sages. Katsuko narrowed his eyes in their direction. "Yakoul..." He recognized the general well. He was from Konoha, he even fought when Yakoul invaded all those years ago. This evil, twisted creature was the one that brought Konoha to its knees. Now's our chance. I'll kill that bastard and then-

"Hey, Katsuko! If that girl tries to get at me again, show her how strong you are. Impress me." His enraged focus was broken and he looked over to the Lady Commander. The captain clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. Damn her. She's playing with me. She knows she can pick at my pride. Now I have no choice! With a groan of frustration, Katsuko made one large bound across the courtyard and slammed into the ground next to Seijo. "Doton: Doryuheki!" The incoming orb of heat and chakra that was aimed towards Seijo would find itself crashing into a large wall of earth that erupted from the ground in front of Katsuko. The resulting explosion shattered the wall and sent dust and debris flying a small distance, but both Katsuko and Seijo behind it were unscathed. "One day..." Katsuko muttered under his breath, standing upright from his previous position to search for the culprit of the attack.

He heard the crackle of electricity and looked up in time to see the bolts coming towards him and Seijo. My wall won't stop lightning attacks. Katsuko held his left arm out and leaped backwards from the destroyed earth wall. In this manner he was able to do two things: dodge the bolt aimed for him and use his arm to push Seijo away from the bolt that targeted her. He didn't put much force in his maneuver, so as to avoid knocking his boss over and instead just giving her a light shove forward as he moved backwards. "Alright then," he spoke up to Seijo, this time at an adequate volume. "Get your ass in the building then and help that kid."

"I'll handle all of these guys."

Katsuko stood and faced the general direction of Akio, Yakoul, Kanata, and Mirai. He stood between them and Seijo and took a fighting stance. He kept stretched his left arm towards them with his palm facing them, curling his fingers in slightly, as his right arm was tucked in close to his ribs and placed his hand in a similar pose but in front of his chest instead. His legs relaxed and took a wide stance with his left foot forward and his hips somewhat lower to the ground than most forms. His gaze became fierce as his eyes darted from Akio to Yakoul. "You people... really make me mad." He closed his eyes, only for a moment. "I won't let anyone get in Seijo's way. None of you can get past me." In retrospect, that sounded a bit corny, Katsuko. Oh well. When the red-haired jonin opened his eyes they were no longer their signature red. Instead the irises had turned golden and almost seemed to have a glow about them. But, for those who saw this change, they would instantly detect a sinking feeling in their gut. The inexperienced wouldn't recognize it, but the shinobi who were very familiar with their chakra would understand that it was being drained. They may also realize that the sensation goes away the moment they look away from his eyes, or at any rate they would hopefully figure that out in some fashion.

"Who wants to die first?"
