Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

In some cases, Julian might withdraw his hand from being held. On a crime scene with the professional police squad all around usually would be one of those times, but this place was damned creepy. Julian took the offered hand, grasping tightly as they ascended.

Julian examined the damage on the door with interest. "I wonder... was this the scene were the husband was originally killed? Was there a struggle? Did he see it coming? How long before the wife felt enough remorse to kill herself in return?" He murmured questiom after question under his breath as he examined the door, then opened it to see what lay in the room beyond.
Jill's angelic form seemed to gracefully float forward from the darkness, her unearthly beauty from her Mantle of Majesty nearly parting the darkness. She had seen the tiger being viciously attacked before Koan's magic had covered her eyes, and Jill rushed forward to keep her on her feet even as the conjured shark dissipated. "You're not done yet," she called out as her hand lightly brushed across the great beast's paw, sending 11 HP of healing to the tiger's form. She then turned to the Cerberus she was adjacent to, the fury in her eyes mixing with the fear the dog felt to send it cowering. "Kneel!" she cried, and the creature shook as it complied.

Hey, welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay!
Obviously you guys probably don't care about others' feelings. However, this is the sort of thread that is only intended to ruin someone else's day. You don't have to agree with them, or even like what they do. But to go to this extent to call someone out is petty, rude, and frankly, an embarrassment.

You guys are in an echo chamber teeheeing at each other and not understanding that what you're doing is not only an affront to the welcoming nature of the site, but also deters people from posting and having fun. If you don't agree with something that people do, post in the locations where those sorts of sentiments are supposed to go. Don't make a petty thread about it that is intended for those people to see. Don't be an ass.

I'm not entirely sure why that is so hard to understand.
A good tip: if the OP hasn't been online in two months, their game probably isn't happening. However, there are other RPs in the tabletop section that are ongoing, or you could start your own interest check!
Julian nodded at Charlie's question as he checked the sink for where they had both puked in it yesterday. He hoped they didn't have to go through DNA testing, and grimaced at what he saw. "Yeah, I remember her. She was wearing a wedding gown, but I didn't spend a lot of time looking at her face. I mean... she was stuffing it with cake and also had a dead guy she was carrying around..."

Julian glanced through the fridge and freezer as well, seeing what was left there. Apparently, the woman was eating nothing but cake... but was she really there? There had to be fingerprints, right? Some sort of proof she had been actually here. If it wasn't the actual bride... "I never went upstairs," Julian noted. "Did you see anyone besides her and her husband?"
The cop towered over them and looked down at the intrusion into his morning with a look of disdain. A woman hiding behind her man? Definitely furthering the cause for equality there. He raised an eyebrow as if to ask what they were doing. Julian, being forced into this position by his employer, quickly gathered his thoughts and cleared his throat.

"Good morning, Officer! Erm... afternoon now, I guess. Anyways! We were passing by and heard some rumors about an interesting mystery unraveling itself here. I am... erm, we are... I should probably get my card. I am Julian Cagle, and this is Charlie Bell of Bell & Cagle Investigators. We were wondering if you wouldn't mind an extra pair of eyes... or two, I suppose?"

The policeman looked down on what appeared to be a pair of third-rate bumbling investigators looking to muck up the crime scene, but at this point, the evidence had been catalogued, and they were stumped. Mostly. "Fine. Go on ahead, but if I see you touch anything, I'll toss you in jail for tampering with evidence, got it?"

Julian nodded gratefully and nearly dragged Charlie forward under the police tape. "Thank you, sir! You won't regret it!" They headed for the door under the cop's watchful eye, and Julian muttered to Charlie, "Lovely fellow. Shall we go inside, then?"
Not being one to enjoy getting squished by a rapidly-expanding boat, Eilina was a bit annoyed with the intrusion until she took a closer look. "That's a folding boat," she said excitedly. "Perfect for getting places that are blocked by water. I don't know about you all, but I'm not interested in going swimming, and there's only one place we haven't explored yet."

Eilina pointed at the sewer river flowing under the bridge. "The water appears to be flowing North to South, if my bearings are correct. I suggest we look downstream first. If there is something going on upstream, I would expect to see evidence of it in the water."
@Cao the ExiledIt just so happens that we do have room. 5e is a lot easier to pick up than 3.5e in my opinion, so if you've played those, you should be able to figure out 5e fairly quickly.

Please send me a PM and we can talk about your character, finding a phb, and how you join in.
When Charlie entertwined her fingers with his, Julian's initial instinct was to pull away, but he fought back the reaction. She might be his boss, but that didn't mean he couldn't care about her. She was probably the only person in the city who he did care about, after all. Not that he was completely incapable of compassion or empathy; Julian simply preferred to not have many close connections with others. He was better company for his thoughts than most, and very few people actually looked up to his position as assistant to a washed-up investigator.

But Julian could have taken one of several jobs. He chose this one over a spot in the police force, simply because of Charlie. He never mentioned it to her, but she might have wondered at some point how she got an applicant as overqualified as Julian.

They walked hand-in-hand for miles. At one point, it seemed like they probably could have hailed a cab, but Julian's hand gripped Charlie's slightly tighter as it passed. They finally arrived on the street where the woman lived-- er, died, only to see cops searming the building. "So, what now?" Julian asked.
