Looks better but what will she use if not guns? Really, just non-lethal rounds would do the trick. Rorschach COULD exist in this universe, be even cooler if it was a female going around breaking criminals fingers and being a badass.
~KL~
She could certainly use non-lethal rounds in her guns, but does it matter if she uses real bullets against Brainiac's drones? They're dead anyway, aren't they?
Your girl could come in as a wildcard or a loner, but I doubt Batman's gonna let a gun toting chain smoking vigilante on the League. With the current situation though, he'd surely take the extra pair of hands.
~KL~
Alright, fair enough. What about this? Oh, and does Rorschach exist in this universe?
Hero Archetype: Original Name: Xi Xiu (习秀) Alias: Gunrat Age: 23 Team: Free Agent Powers: Superhuman reflexes, free-floating, individually focusing eyes, pain resistance, and the ability to dislocate any body part at will.
Personality: A violent chain-smoker, easily unhinged, with very little regard for individual human life. She's a strong believer in "the ends justify the means", and wouldn't hesitate to kill one person herself if it meant saving five. She holds deep resentment for sentimental heroes, and those who attach themselves to trivial things. If they aren't using the most direct solution to a problem, no matter how inconsiderate, they're wasting time. Nonetheless, she holds heroes like Batman and Raven in the highest regard, simply on account of their abilities and accomplishments. Also, while efficiency is her ideal, her own mental trauma does make her prone to emotional outbursts, if provoked.
Appearance: Xiu is Chinese-American, 5'4", with a round, flat face, sickly pale skin, wide eyes, thin eyebrows, and a large forehead. Her head is shaved down the middle, with amber-died ponytails on either side. Her build is slim, but also very fit. She wears steel-toed boots, work jeans, and a thick leather jacket. Hidden within her jacket are four holsters (two on her chest, and two at the hip), carrying various members of her pistol collection. Strapped to her thigh is a combat knife, and rattling in her jacket pocket is a switch-blade. She keeps a red kerchief tied around her head, and wears oversized aviator glasses during the day.
During times of emergency, or when acting in a more public role, she wears black combat fatigues. On formal occasions, she wears a plain green dress, with a black sash around the waist.
Brief Bio: Xiu was born the daughter of two Taiwanese political activists, who made it their goal in life to delegitimize the Chinese government, and incite civil war. When pro-Taiwan protests began breaking out around China in the early 2000's, her parents were at the very front of the movement. Fearing that this civil unrest could spread, the government used military force to break up the protests, sending citizens fleeing to their homes. That night, police operatives broke into the homes of those involved in inciting the protests, including Xiu's parents. They were imprisoned, interrogated, and eventually killed, leaving her as a child of the state. Needless to say, no media sources were allowed to cover this, and the world went on completely unaware. From early childhood, Xiu was raised by various agents of the Chinese Ministry of State Security. Their goal was to train an assassin to infiltrate the governments of Taiwan and Japan, giving China direct leverage over the life and death of any neighbouring state officials who might stand in the country's way. Training included various mental and physical experiments, in an attempt to make her more agile and durable than a normal human. Chemical and surgical treatments overclocked her brain, reinforced her muscle fibers, and replaced her joints, boosting her agility, intelligence, and flexibility beyond normal human means, but left her nervous system fried and numbed, and her personality a neurotic mess. In spite of these setbacks, her resourcefulness surpassed their expectations. As a teen, she was able to hack into the ministry's computer network, and review all of the ministry's data, including her own file. Learning of her parent's cause in full detail, and how expendable she was to the state that killed them, she decided that she owed nothing to the government that, up to that point, she'd viewed as her only parent. Distraught, she became uncooperative to her handlers and teachers. Before too long, it was decided that she was a lost cause, and was scheduled for a quick execution. Learning of this, she subdued her guards, and sneaked out of the facility. She made it to Shanghai, where she survived for a year by robbing street vendors, before sneaking onto a freighter on its way to America. Into her late teens and early adulthood, she saw the heroic deeds of the Justice League, and saw a new, constructive purpose for herself, beyond mere survival. She viewed her own life as having been stolen from her, and wanted to ensure that others wouldn't suffer the same loss of life, whether metaphorical or literal. She eventually made a name for herself, apprehending kidnappers and robbers (keeping whatever money they had on them for herself, of course). Eventually, after thwarting a terrorist plot in New York, she drew the attention of the Justice League.
Updated: Although physically skilled, the league determined that she was far too unstable, and certainly didn't fit the image of "hero" they were trying to project to the world. They rejected her request to join their ranks, and advised her to leave heroics to heroes. Since then, she's continued to work alone, walking a fine line of fighting crime without stepping on the League's toes. Now, with the rise of Brainiac, and the fall of Metropolis, Xiu intends to help the remaining heroes whether they like it or not. She'll hunt down Brainiac's drones, thinning the herd, and wait for the League to take action. She has her mind set on Justice League membership, and intends to prove herself to them, whatever it takes. Of course, she has more urgent reasons to fight Brainiac, including protecting her own friends, who help keep her supplied while she's on this quest.
Legal Nation Name: The Hutterite-Chiliwack Coalition.
Area Controlled: In Pink
Flag:
Political Party: Hutterite - The Fellowship of God Chilliwack - The Canada Restoration Party
Type of Government: Chilliwack - Republic Hutterite - Communist Theocracy
The government of Chilliwack is democratically elected by a general vote of its citizens. The current incumbent government is The Canada Restoration Party, which promotes heavy migration and extreme military action, to reclaim all of what was once Canada, and to then expand south. The party is lead by Prime Minister William McGuinness, a grizzled, industrious man, who seeks to ensure his name is not lost to history. Each of the Hutterite communes is individually governed by a council of elders, who are appointed to the position by the elder before them. Needless to say, almost all the elders are the sons of the previous ones. The councils regularly gather together, to ensure that changes in government affect every Hutterite community simultaneously, giving the functional effect of having all Hutterites live under a centralized government.
Date Out of Bunker: Chilliwack - 2209 Hutterite - N/A Productions: Cereal, Fruit, Spices, Meat, Lumber, Ships
History of the Nation: When the bombs fell, the major cities of Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton were wiped off the map. When the descendants of the Vancouverites emerged from their bunkers in the early 2200's, they found a wasteland where their city had been. This lead to the great pilgrimage of 2209, where the surviving tribes of Vancouver traveled inland, and discovered that the British Columbian city of Chilliwack hadn't been hit by a bomb. It was here, in the decayed, but largely intact ruins of Chilliwack, that they rebuilt Canadian civilization, establishing the Republic of Chilliwack. As they reestablished contact with communities along the Pacific coast, and up into the north of British Columbia, they discovered that several areas where already inhabited by some strange German-speaking cult. Eventually, contact was made with the elders of this tribe, who still maintained a grasp on the English language. They identified themselves as the Hutterites, a religious minority that fled Europe in the late 1800's, who had been living in isolation for more than 300 years. Being far away from any civilization, and pacifist in nature, they were completely untouched by the war's destruction. With all other remaining life hidden inside sealed bunkers, the Hutterite communities flourished. They expanded across the prairies, and into northern British Columbia, establishing a heavily populated agriculture empire. They even sent scouts out, marking out and walling-off radioactive zones. Needless to say, their technology hadn't developed as it had in the bunkers. They rejected most technology, and only made advancements relating to agriculture. The people of Chilliwack needed fresh food and materials to supply their expanding society, and the Hutterites needed protection from the technological giants that would be emerging in the world, so they drafted the "Treaty of Kamloops", establishing a dual-government coalition between the Hutterite communes and the Republic of Chilliwack. This strong coalition, combining a relatively massive population and food surplus, with modern military technology, now seeks to expand its reach, uniting and recolonizing the rest of North America. The problem that obstructs these ambitions, of course, are the other surviving societies that have since emerged in North America. While the Vancouverites of Chilliwack would gladly use force to expand their empire, the Hutterites are strict pacifists, and would refuse any such action. With the majority of the coalition's population being Hutterite, it's simply not an option. Nonetheless, there is a great deal of empty land, ripe for the taking.
Main Race: Hutterite - German/Caucasian Chilliwack - Chinese/Asian
Main Religion: Hutterite - Anabaptist Christian Chilliwack - Baptist Christian
Military: The Republic of Chilliwack has a moderate force of full-time soldiers, who are stationed at outposts across all coalition land. They are armed mainly with pre-war assault rifles, but the Chilliwack National Guard is outfitted with laser weaponry and light power armour. Research is constantly underway in the heart of the capital city, developing new methods of "keeping the Republic safe". The Hutterite communes believe that the nuclear fallout of the world was God's fulfillment of "the meek shall inherit the Earth", and that it is their sworn duty to remain unarmed at all times. As such, the population eligible for military enlistment is greatly limited, with all soldiers coming from the non-Hutterite regions of Southern British Columbia.

Notes: Her leather jacket was reinforced by a blacksmith friend she made along the way, and has steel plates hidden inside the sleeves and over the chest.
Gunnaya's leather-bound feet struck the fresh snow with a heavy thud. The arrows in her quiver, and the skulls on the staff strapped to her back, gave a hearty rattle. Looking up, she saw the elf's shining metallic form charging toward her at an outstanding speed. She hadn't risen to her feet after landing, so she was already low to the ground. The thought occurred to her to swing around and stab the elf as it passed, but her reflexes kicked in first.
As shield came closer to smashing her in the head, she cringed, tucked her head in, and made a sudden roll to the left. The thunderous metal form blew past her, clipping her right foot with a disturbing *SNAP*. As she tumbled, nine arrows fell from her quiver, and the bindings on her back snapped, leaving her quarterstaff planted in the snow. She landed prone on the ground, another tree by her left side, and the elf behind her. As her forearms hit the ground, she heard the whiz of the two falcons giving chase to their target. Given the weight of metal plate armour, elven or otherwise, and the speed her opponent was dashing at, Gunnaya assumed she'd have time to stand and ready herself, before the elf could come to a complete stop, and turn around to face her.
So, between the shield AND the armor, Blithe probably isn't going to get injured?
How far does the 40 lb bow penetrate into the shields? At point blank vs a proper shield (not some flat set of planks), not at all. Doesn't pierce through the other side.
Ah, in that case, I'd expect my arrows to still go through your shield, but probably get stuck, sticking through the other side by a few inches. Your plate armour alone will deflect my arrows without any problem (leaving a small dent). If I hit you where you've got mail, however, it'll probably go into your flesh by at least an inch.
Hmmm... This is harder than I thought. Everyone who wants to show off how much bows rock fires their bow against a crappy flat non-composite shield. Everyone who wants to show off how much shields rocks fires a crappy 30-40 lb draw bow.
Haha alright, well extrapolating from Wikipedia (English Longbow), I think it's safe to assume that Gunnaya's arrows would go clean through Jack-of-Plate (Scale) armour, and mail armour, but would only dent plate armour.
How far does the 40 lb bow penetrate into the shields? What's the range? If they stay stuck in with any amount of dempth, at 30-40 lbs, from more than 10 yards, I think it's safe to assume a 120 lb bow would go pretty deep, if not clean through, from a comparable distance. Again according to Wikipedia, 75 lbs at 10 yards (30 feet) is roughly equal to 110 lbs at 250 yards (750 feet). I'm using a 120 lb bow, at around 10 (or less) yards of distance.
Edit: Of course, if the shield took the arrow (not bodkin by the way) from an angle, it might get stuck in, but you'd be fine.
