Personality: Although Matt aggravates easily, he also trusts just as quickly. He tends to get attached to people easily, but generally doesn't really reveal it unless prompted to. He isn't a very hard worker unless he is working for what he believes in mostly because of his regal upbringing. He can only preform a task if he deems it morally right, or at least morally neutral. Although he does have many doubts about whether his decisions are right, he does always put his best foot forward when it counts. He believes in taking prisoners, both for informational purposes, and because he dislikes murder. Though he will end the lives of those deemed to dangerous, or completely morally unjust.
History: Matt is the son of the Despot of Ylisse. This has made him heir to the title for the entirety of his life, but he hated all the responsibility, and the rules. Although he loved his mother, he had decided he had to leave before she had died so he could avoid becoming the new Despot. He is now roaming the country, doing good and messing around, spending the money his mother had given him for doing things like chores, or for birthdays.
During the war, Matt was relatively sheltered. He knew what was going on, but he or his mother never really had to get directly involved, though Matt had started training with a private coach/tutor whatever just in case. He hadn't really kept up with the war, because Matt's mother hadn't wanted him to get involved, so he decided to not bother.
When the reconstruction effort began, Matt's mother had become very ill. The time was coming, he was to soon become the new Despot. On his eighteenth birthday he left his mother a note, grabbed some of his inheritance and current gold, and left his home. He now roams the land, never revealing himself as the new Despot, and only ever telling people his first name. (Most people could probably tell though, considering he never hid his face, and wore a cape most of the time.)
