Prologue

"Are you sure it's safe to go in there? Who knows what creature this cage holds?" Asked James nervously, fiddling with his fingers as he watched Adam get closer to the water.
"Don't worry, it's not a big pool and the water is shallow, so it can't be anything big."
James looked around. Adam was right, the pool of water was very shallow. There was a sand bank with two logs on it, and a thick glass fence surrounded the whole thing. The water was very clear, and James could see the bones of animals at the bottom. Adam walked further into the water, which now came up to his waist. 
"See, nothing to worry about! I think anything that once lived here is dead!" laughed Adam, swimming around in the water.
James relaxed a little and watched his friend swim about in the clear water. But then something caught his eye. One of the logs on the sand bank was moving. It seemed to sprout a head and legs, and the head glanced over in Adam's direction. The creature slid into the water.
"Adam, get out of there!" Yelled James. "There's something behind you!"
"Hah, yeah, sure!" Goaded Adam.
The creature silently glided through the water towards Adam. James got a good look at the creature. It looked like an elongated bear, with webbed feet. It had sharp, knife-like teeth.
"ADAM, GET OUT OF THERE!" Shouted James.
Adam turned around, and his expression changed from boastful to petrified. He began to back away, but the creature burst from the water and latched its jaws onto Adam's neck. Adam struggled and tried to push the creature off, but then a sickening crunch penetrated the air. Adam stopped struggling. He was still.
James burst out of the cage and kept running, looking behind him as he went. He finally reached the dock, and headed towards the boat that brought the daredevils to the island. 
"Why did I come here with him?" Panted James as he got closer to his boat. But before he could reach it, something leapt out in front of him. It looked a little bit like a wombat. It gave James a curious look. James breathed a sigh of relief. "Looks harmless enough," he said to himself. But then the creature opened its mouth. Its two front teeth were dagger-like fangs, but the teeth at the side of the creature's mouth were like elongated razors. This thing was a predator. James quickly darted past the creature, jumping into the boat and starting the motor. In a few seconds he was already at least 10 meters away from the shoreline. James began to relax, but then heard a hissing sound behind him. He glimpsed those razor shaped teeth before the creature leapt onto him and everything went black.

Novus Genetics is not well known or well fancied outside the genetics community. But away from the public eye, Novus is the main rival of the more famous company, InGen. Both companies had been working on cloning extinct animals for several years. Novus was still finalising the details of the genetics when InGen leaked Jurassic Park at a press conference of the main genetics companies in Santiago, Chile. Instantly, Novus set to work finding a gimmick for their own park. Novus got their hands on a mummified Giant Moa foot, and extracted DNA. The Moa did not survive long, but it was a start. Then they got their hands on a Basilosaurus tooth, and extracted and revived some long-dormant cells. They had a theme going - Cenozoic animals. Novus bought an island of the coast of Tokyo, Japan, and set to work building a park. By 1996, the park was almost ready to be opened to the public.

But on 19th August, 1996, two workers were cleaning out the Megatherium cage. The giant ground sloth escaped from its holding cage and killed the two workers. The families sued Novus, and the genetics company was forced to shut the park down and never release it to the public. The one catch was, no workers dared to go in there and kill the animals. So, the park was left to rot. Novus didn't care if the ground-dwelling animals run amok on the island, and the cages holding the flying and ocean animals could keep the animals inside. Novus expected all the animals to die. But, an ecosystem was formed over the space of under 20 years, and the animals bred, and kept living. 

Fast forward around 17 years, and Jurassic World, the new park created by InGen, has been released and it is a great success. Novus has kept to themselves for those years, but now it is losing money to InGen. Around local people and daredevils, Cenozoa has attained an almost mythical status. Locals will not venture anywhere near it, and daredevils love to test their luck by venturing into the cages and the pools. Unexplained disappearances have been stacking up around the island, and Novus has been losing money to people suing for lost friends and families for years. Novus decided it had to end. They began to recruit experienced hunters and paleontologists to re-capture the animals and get them back into their cages. This is where our story begins.

This is an idea I have had for a while.

Novus Genetics is the main rival of InGen,but has always fallen behind it. And when InGen revealed that they had created a theme park with living dinosaurs, Novus felt that they needed to bring something to the table that that could top Jurassic Park. They looked at the time before the Dinosaurs, but the fossils are much too distant to get any DNA or cells from them. But then they looked at the period after the Dinosaurs, and found that cells were easier to extract. And, after some extensive genetics, they had living breathing Mammoths, Terror Birds and Sabre Tooth Tigers etc. But after some fatal accidents, it was closed and left to rot. With all the creatures still alive and insie. Now, many years later, Novus has sent in trained hunters and zoologists to re-capture the lost park.

-Mammutus, the Woolly Mammoth
-Smilodon, the sabre tooth tiger
-Paraceratherium, the largest land mammal ever.
-Titanoboa, a gigantic snake
-Megalania, an immense relative of the modern day monitor lizard
-Andrewsarchus, a gigantic wolf-like predator.

There will be lots of more obscure and less important creatures as well.
