Mikayla woke up at five in the morning as she had a lot of work to do if she wanted to look good on the first day. She was unsure whether or not Alice was awake or not, but decided to be as quiet as she could so she wouldn't disturb her roommate. She hobbled over to the bathroom to get ready. She had noticed that her ankle had mostly healed, but she was keeping her weight off of it to be safe. Hopefully, she wouldn't need to use those atrociously grey crutches.

The first thing she needed to do was take a shower to help wake herself up. She turned on the water and waited for it to reach optimal temperature before stripping off her clothes and hopping in. If she wasn't in a rush to make it to the cafeteria in time for breakfast, she would have soaked in the showers for as long as she could. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, so she immediately reached for her shampoo. Her fingers were rather slippery with water, so when she grabbed the bottle, it slipped out of her hand with a thud. She silently screamed, hoping that Alice wouldn't hear that.

Eventually, she finished her shower and began to blow dry her hair. It was rather loud, but there was no way around it. Once she was done, she left the bathroom, got her curling iron and began to meticulously curl her hair so each curl would be exactly the same and perfect. The process with her hair alone had taken an hour. When she was satisfied, she applied a little bit of foundation to hide whatever blemish she could have and mascara to lengthen her eyelashes. To finish her look, she put on her favorite pink lip gloss.

She sighed as she looked at her uniform that was resting on her desk. She reluctantly put it on and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Despite the drab uniform, she didn't look too bad. She ran her fingers through her hair, and debated whether or not to leave it down or tie it up. After a couple minutes of tousling, she decided to keep it down and was ready.

She checked the clock and saw that it was already 6:50. "Alice! Are you ready? If not, I'm going to leave for the cafeteria without you!" she said loudly so she can be heard through the sliding wall.

Mikayla almost chuckled when Alice asked if she listened to screamo. "Do I look like the type to listen to incoherent screaming or 'rocking out' in general?" she asked while suppressing an amused smile. While there was that one saying about judging a book by its cover, there are some safe assumptions one could make.

Not knowing what to say next to her partner, she shifted awkwardly on her bed. She was unused to having to make small talk without any malicious intents. So instead, she pulled out her phone and began to look at the new Fall line from Ella McCarty to hide the fact that she was feeling awkward.

"Oh my gosh! Isn't this so cute, Alice?" she squealed after a minute of scrolling and forgetting everything that wasn't shopping. She turned her phone around so her roommate could look at the light blue denim dress that somehow costed 1000G. Usually she would only have her maids to show these clothes to while she online shopped at home and while they were nice enough to humor the rich girl, they were understandably not very 'into it'. So Mikayla wouldn't mind having someone receptive to fashion around even though she wasn't looking for something as concrete as friendship.

Once Mikayla had finished icing her ankle, the nurse swiftly wrapped it so she would not move it too much. Mikayla looked down at her leg and sighed. The wrap was a dull, off-white color that definitely did not match what she was wearing. She understood that it was there for practical reasons, but wouldn't it be better if it came in lavender?

She was about to step off the cot and use the crutches to get to her room when Alice and Mr. Creepy Helper Kid returned for some reason. "Oh okay," she said, grabbing the papers and a pen from the kid. She hadn't really decided which elective she was going to take. Originally, she was thinking of doing Music, but she really didn't want to since Alice was going to be in that elective. Also, Monster Hunting is mandatory, so that's decided for her already. Now it came down to Horticulture, Cooking and Painting. It was easy for her to rule out Horticulture as she does not want to work outside and ruin her pale complexion. "I suppose I could try cooking. I'm sure Daddy would be impressed if I made him something for his birthday. And how hard could cooking be anyway?" she thought to herself.

After figuring out which electives she wanted to take, she quickly filled out the proper forms and handed it back to the volunteer. He was finally out of their hair and ran off to do whatever he needed to do next. But not before looking longingly at Alice one final time which demanded an eye roll from Mikayla.

She then hobbled off the cot and tried to balance herself on the crutches. "Let's go back to our room already. I just want to lie down and go online shopping for an hour to get my mind off my stupid ankle," she said to Alice, already halfway to the door. She made her way to the dorms in a slow, clumsy manner. She had never used crutches before, and it seemed a lot easier to use when other people were using them. Also, it hurt her under arm, a lot.

When they finally reached their room after what felt like forever, Mikayla went to what she assumed was her side as Alice had left her stuff there. "Ugh, today was so long and stupid," she groaned, not really to anyone, and plopped onto her bed. She let the crutches fall to the ground beside the bed. She should really unpack, but that could wait til later. She really wasn't feeling it at the moment.

However, remembering the fact that she was sharing the room with someone meant that they needed some sort of agreement on how things were going to work. She turned over to face her partner and added, "If you have any roommate rules or whatever, let's get it out of the way. I don't really have anything aside from no borrowing my stuff without asking and always knocking before moving the slide."

By the time it was lunch, Alex was starving. He rushed over to the lunch line and struggled to fight through the crowds to get some food. Despite the fact that a lot of the students were in clubs and were at their booths, the lunch line was still hectic as ever. He managed to get a pork bun with minimal injuries and decided to check on the volleyball club booth.

He noticed a girl, talking to the coach but she left before he reached them. She was rather small, probably a first year. Kind of cute though. Regardless, he walked over there to greet the coach. "Heya Coach!" he said with a cheeky smile. "Any fresh meat for the team?" He opened the wrapper with his pork bun and proceeded to take a few, large bites of it. "Mmm... delicious..."

Alex was bored. Sure, he was one to get bored easily, but this was the first day of school. How could he already be bored to death? None of his friends were in this class so he didn't have anyone to pass notes to or make stupid faces at. The teacher was ridiculously strict and spent an eternity simply going over the class syllabus. The class rules were already two pages long by itself! No talking except during class discussions, no cell phones, no eating, no drinking, no listening to music, nothing! How was he going to survive? "Maybe actually paying attention and doing class work?" he thought only for a moment before shaking it off. "Like that is ever going to happen."

All he wanted was for classes to go by faster so he could go to the volleyball try outs. He had been practicing a lot during the break and was feeling all fired up.

Forgetting all about the rules, he pulled out a rice ball that he brought from home and began to eat. He was sitting in the back, but unfortunately the teacher still noticed.

"Mr. Randall! What did I just say about eating in class?" the teacher scolded, one could see a vein popping out of his head.

"Uh...Not allowed?" he answered with his mouth filled with rice, causing some to spill out. The rest of the class could not help but giggle.

"This is the first day so I'm letting you off with a warning, but the next time you are going to get detention! Don't let it happen again."

"Yessir..."

While Mikayla was waiting for Alice to come back with her stuff, the nurse had given her a set of crutches that she could use. They were rather ugly in Mikayla's opinion, a basic set of dull grey ones, but they got the job done and Mikayla would rather not have to rely on Alice again to get back to their new room. It was humiliating enough just that one time.

She was still sitting down and icing her ankle when Alice came back with some male student. He was carrying Alice's stuff while Alice had hers. "Thank you," Mikayla said, for what must have been the hundredth time that day. Never had she needed to say it so many times, and the words felt stupid in her mouth. She motioned toward her foot to indicate that she was not quite ready yet. "I should probably keep icing it for a while and then I need to get it wrapped. It would probably be best if you two go to our room first and I'll meet you there."

She noticed a sweater hanging over the volunteer's shoulder and could catch a glimpse of what was on it. It was one of those souvenir sweaters they had at concerts or whatever. And much to Mikayla's amusement and slight disgust, it was definitely Alice on that sweater. She found it rather tacky, to be owning a sweater with the face of a fellow student on it. She couldn't imagine him or anyone wearing that in public."I really, really want to make fun of that idiot for his awful fashion sense," she thought to herself, feeling the need to bite her tongue to prevent herself from insulting the poor boy. She knew that she probably shouldn't. Especially while he and Alice were going to carry her stuff to their room while she was injured. She wasn't going to pick a fight when she clearly had a disadvantage. That, and Alice was... nice. Annoyingly so, but nice. And not to mention, her Familiar.

"Y-yeah... I'll be fine," she said in a strained voice and a forced smile. "Go on without me."
