It's hot.

Sweat dripped down her forehead while her fingers traced the countless of rings that scattered about her knuckles. She twisted the one ring that clothed her pinky, a swallow racing down her throat. While her disagreement was announced to all ears, there was no action involved. They were all--still--standing around as if those monsters out there aren't dangerous. Elvina scrunched up her face and let her eyes wander to each person in the tight-nipped room. One kid announced the idea of spreading all items on hand to showcase what could help; another questioned the sanity of everyone else.

At this point, Elvina was lost.

There were countless of ideas cascading out of each person's mouth,

(none were helping)

but not one gave her the guarantee of getting out.

She did, for a split second, think about searching through her handbag. But she knew there was nothing useful on her, in fact, what would a group of teenagers have on them that would help in such a situation like this? Dumbasses. Once again, as if the first idea wasn't ridiculous enough already, someone rambled on and on about what to do and how to go about this whole situation. She threw in a quiet laughter after the speech was done, What the fuck, can I just leave? And then, as if things couldn't get even worse, a kid emerged from the sidelines and spoke about a table leg.

All in all, everything went from one ear and came out the other in complete shit for Elvina. She really didn't care much about everyone or what they had to say; only thing she wanted as of right now, was looking for a window of opportunity to leave.

She stared down at her shoes,

(slightly regretting the damage they’ll be subjected to)

willing herself to control her temper.

She knew how these things ended; zombie movies always had that or group that preached about staying put and waiting for help. That was always the first group to get a harsh taste of reality, usually fizzling out early on. Elvina really needed to figure out how to leave.

Elvina sighed and raised her head, watching those who spoke about what they had on hand and laying it out for all to see. She did a quick look at the loot that was scattered about and turned her attention back onto her purse. Her nose crinkled, there was no way in hell Elvina was going to show her items and she most certainly was not going to share her important materials. Her snacks popped themselves up above the half zipped purse, presenting themselves to her. Sure, she had been hungry but Elvina knew she couldn't waste all in one go; less so, show it to all of her beloved associates(student mates???). Sure as hell dont want this to end up like--what the fuck is that stupid ass book again--flies? pig of the flies?

So, ending off her thought in a conclusion, Elvina zipped up her purse and slung it to her back.

When one of the students asked for an introduction from all, she listened to the names that spilled from each of their mouths. She kept her mouth shut since the introductions were pushed aside to talk about maps and the buildings and all other stupid shit.

Interjecting the conversation, Elvina spoke up.

“You guys are just idiots.” She openly scowled, letting
her clear distaste linger for everyone to see. “Even with putting all our shitty food together, chances are there won’t be enough to go around.”

Elvina pressed her lips into a fine line; she would rather much scream and rage at everyone’s altruistic stupidity, but opted for a cooler—-or so she thought—approach. Plus it’d be just as stupid as them if she took out her frustration on them.

“And,” she continued, “even if it were enough, it would only last us one day. You’re literally asking me to sacrifice myself just because I’m older, major bullshit.”

Appearance Details

Elvina treats each and every day as if she were starring as the main model of a runway show; even in sweats or leggings, she carried herself with an air of elegance that could rival a young widow entitled to their late husband's inheritance. Her closet, since middle school, has been inspired by early 2000s fashion meets street fashion. Elvina's hair was where her power resided, expensively set into smooth black waves like the rippling of satin. It was the setting for the presentation of the main act, her face--dimples so worked into her that her smile was more of a flicker of light across a blade, a rarity. Her eyes, of the usual brown, didn't encourage familiarity, the basic portrayal of a "resting bitch face." Her biggest imperfection was the small beauty mark falling under her right earlobe, all in plain sight if not hidden by her hair. For Elvina, any mark on her face ruins the high standards she keeps her self-image at.

Standing at five-three in her socks, Elvina's body was petite but of average measurements when it comes down to her interpretation. She doesn't have the hourglass proportions that she deems perfection so instead creates the illusion of it with her clothing choice.
Characterization

Vanity was the beginning and end of Elvina's character; oftentimes, people forgetting the inbetweens. At her best, Elvina is egotistical and self-assertive--creating her own atmosphere regardless of where she goes. However, because of how strong the color of her personality is, people would often assume the worst of her (which wasn't too far from the truth.) Her pride sky-rockets when she's in social situations and normally is the one trait that keeps her from making immoral decisions--willfully owning up to her mistakes simply because she wouldn't deny the thought-process that led to that decision.

She's constantly told that her honesty can be over the top which is something she learned from growing up in a household with caretakers who had nothing to hide from each other. Elvina lives with her aunt (from her mother's side) and her partner; her parents died when she was barely 6 years old. Her memory of her parents are a clouded haze so her connection to her aunt is as honest as it gets. In terms of personal relations, Elvina rarely connects with someone enough to consider them a friend. As her aunt constantly points out, in a poor attempt to psychoanalyze her, Elvina is afraid of commitment. Elvina, on the one hand, believes that people just aren't interesting enough to keep around since they play the same old tune over and over and over again.

As a result, Elvina has never truly belonged to a clique. She would interact with others on a minimal level, oftentimes ending just at greetings, which made her seem lonelier than she actually felt. She didn't care since her own company was the best company she could have and being her last year of high school, she figured there were bigger stages awaiting just months away. Although Elvina was never really tolerated in most of the clubs she attempted to join (that and how easily she lost interest) she still built up enough stamina and her reflexes from playing volleyball with her caretakers.

Elvina and parties went together as perfectly as vanilla ice cream and sprinkles; her go-to escape from life would be crashing the high school house parties, showing off her carefully tailored outfit, drinking some, eating some, instigating drama, and leaving once she lost interest. A lot of what Elvina portrays is what she wants people to see in her, so a lot of the times no one would have guessed that Elvina would never dye her hair or cut it. She's also a big fan of reptiles and hopes to own a crested gecko when she's older. Also she's slightly self-conscious of her hands, since she tends to sweat easily, and the fact that she can't whistle--to the point of frustration.

Unfortunately, you can only trust Elvina as far as you could throw her. She's the type to make decisions based upon her overall comfortableness and well-being. That being said, she's not cruel with her decision-making but she had never been placed in a situation where she needed to wage the possibility of her life over others. Due to her failure to commit to people and her prideful character, the safe assumption that she would choose herself over others with no remorse is only right.

Spouts of memories flashed through her mind like a broken faucet but the only person she focused on was her mother. The young woman grabbed the small hands of the child, both prancing around in the tight living room--dancing along to a soft tune. The bright warmth of sunlight in springtime, streaming through a window, warmed up a patch on the carpet. Elvina's young self placed her tiny feet on top of her mother's, their sizes a clear juxtaposition between the two. Her hands clasped tightly together with the woman, the two wearing a big smile on their cheeks. Every bit of her mother ravished Elvina's imagination, titillating thoughts of her features--deconstructing the qualities that Elvina didn't even realize she remembered.

(For the first time in her life, Elvina missed the idea of a mother's warmth)

She blinked, her eyelids dragging down with weariness until she reopened her eyes once more with more force. Her gaze motioned down towards her feet; her legs hugging her chest. Her head groggily shifted upwards, staring at the crowd of students. Faces she'd see here and there, passing her swiftly in the hallways. They were nothing special to her. Her eyes slanted downwards as she focused on her bruised knees. The purple material that hugged her body, a tinny dress with white flower prints, was no longer pristine and crisp. Stains she couldn't even begin to fathom how to remove littered her dress and the denim jacket she so carefully chose to accent her dress (with a vibrant purple fur puff coating the top part), vibrantly echoed it's significance to those who flashed their attention on Elvina. Her stare, having returned to her knees, dug itself into the red growing color; the short image of Elvina falling under the stampede of students replayed itself in a sick marathon.

With her copper against honey and sage orbs edged their stare deeper at the bruises--Elvina scrunched up her face in frustration, casting aside her thoughts and focusing on her present situation. All she needed to do was not get herself killed. She watched everyone barricade themselves in and others jittering around in worry. A student crying in a corner and the other, presenting a question to all.

A plan.

That might've been a good idea if someone had spoken about a full blown scheme of how to get out. She scoffed and clicked her teeth under her breath. Then the SUV was mentioned. And then the lack of space. Immediately, Elvina's inner mind workers (literally like that spongebob episode) began planning how she could possibly become one of those six people. She straightened her posture, her whole persona changed completely, but before she could speak someone else beat her to the punch.

"Huh?!" Without missing a beat, Elvina responded.

"Waiting here is just going to increase our fucking chances of dying." She crossed her arms, "We're sitting ducks while waiting for these idiots to get their shit together."

She needed to get home to her aunt fast and if nobody was planning on leaving any time soon, Elvina would just have to leave herself. The girl's thumb rose to her lip, absentmindedly stroking her lower lip.
