Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

"It will be done," Rhyldaer bowed his head slightly in deference to the female drow. He moved deeper into the underground passageway, silently signaling to a third white haired figure that was approaching. The figure paused his stride, immediately recognizing Rhyldaer's meaning. With only the slightest whisper, a long, serrated blade appeared in the drow's hand as he and Rhyldaer took up well concealed spots on opposite sides of the tunnel.

Althea nodded at Zed's plan. "Straw, you keep in the center with me," she said with a look at the old man. Did he seem slightly on edge? she wondered as she noticed him glancing quickly side to side as the small group approached the entrance that Harper had found. But she assumed any uneasiness was simply caused by worry over actually finding this history codex or whatever it was.

If anything, he seemed to tense more as they reached the top of a narrow staircase that led down to the entrance of what looked to be a tunnel. He held the lantern aloft, indicating he was ready. "Down we go, I guess."

As Serah cursed the loss of her dinner, the group of warg mounted orcs suddenly plunged into view, still following the trail back to the location where Jacob had been knocked from his mount the previous night. They were intent on their task and did not notice the archer in the tree.
As Gurthang's blade descended, Jacob closed his eyes, certain that this was the end. He could only be grateful that it would be a quick death. Moments later, the human opened his eyes, surprised to find that not only was he still alive, but that the orc had cut the coarse ropes binding his hands.

"I'd be glad if you could answer a few questions before I let you leave," the orc said. Jacob brought his hands in front of him, shedding the cut pieces of rope and massaging his sore wrists. Of course you would he thought, still wondering at this orc's intentions.

When Gurthang left the tent, Jacob forced himself to his feet, quickly ruling out the idea of trying to flee when he had to use the pole propping up the center of the tent just to keep his balance. And by the time the world seemed to stop spinning the old orc had returned and was offering Jacob a share of something that looked barely cooked. He shook his head, doubting any food would stay down.

But he did lower himself back down to the ground. "What is it you want to know?" he asked cautiously.
Hi VirtualVulcan! You don't need a character sheet unless you want one. Maybe your character had been offered the job by Straw, declined, but then thought better of it and has been trying to catch up to the group?

Alternately, you are more than welcome to have the yet-to-be-named man that is face down on the road. He doesn't have to be dead and could simply have been knocked unconscious and picks an appropriately dramatic time to wake up.
Sorry for being slow, guys, but I haven't forgotten! I'll try to get in a post soon!

"Even coming underground," Rhyldaer smirked and looked back over his shoulder at the second drow after watching Straw and Harper begin to light lanterns. "Almost makes it too easy when they come straight to us," he said, moving aside slightly so that the female drow could get a better look at their quarry.

While Zed examined the print, the archer stood relaxed, but alert, letting her eyes roam over the outlines of the ruins, looking for movement or other signs they might not be the only ones here, but nothing caught her attention. She nodded her head in agreement with Zed's remarks. "Probably a good idea. Whoever left it could be long gone by now," she said, not sounding particularly confident that was the case.

Meanwhile, Straw was holding a lantern steady so that Harper could light the wick. He glanced around the ruins himself as if looking for something, but even knowing they were there, probably watching right this second, Straw could not spot the drow. It unnerved him slightly every time he came here, but he was well practiced at keeping his emotions to himself and gave Harper a confident grin. "Bound to be a way down to the lower level somewhere around here. Everyone keep an eye out for one."

Yes, sorry. I can't get to my computer right now; I'll have a post up in the next few hours.

No worries! :) Just glad we haven't lost anyone yet!
The man sneered. "You think only poor folk can offend Lord..." His sentence broke off as his eyes followed Khoran's gaze to the trees off the side of the road, recognizing the look of someone checking for his companions. "Look sharp!" he cried to his fellow highwaymen, spotting the large form of Hugh, but missed the smaller form of Auredhel better concealed by the foliage.

As Khoran's dagger shot forward, the leader of the rag tag group barely managed to avoid taking the blade through the throat, lunging to the side so that the blade bit across the top of his shoulder instead. The others, seeing that things would get ugly quick, rushed at Khoran with blades drawn. The fourth loosed his arrow. The girl's eyes widened in shock and pain as the projectile slammed into her chest and her hands fell away from her head to uselessly grasp the arrow shaft now protruding from her.
Glenn paid Winston the 5 silver pieces, counting them slowly out loud as he laid each in the shop keepers hand. While he had never learned to read, Dotta had taken the time to teach him basic counting, addition, and subtraction skills so that would not get cheated when dealing with money. Once satisfied he had paid the correct amount, he collected his new things, hanging his water skin next to the axe. The long handled axe did not escape Winston's attention and he eyed it curiously.

He waited for Roan to leave before asking Glenn, seemingly nonchalant, "Where you off to?"

The large man grinned. "To find treasure!" he announced excitedly. "Bye!" he said as he collected his cloak and hurried to catch up with Roan. Once outside, he fell in step beside his new companion.

"What friend?" Glenn asked, not following Roan's indirect comment.

Once it was clarified for him, his face turned visibly redder. "Oh! No ... no. I..." he stammered, looking flustered. "I want to surprise her when we're back." In his imagination, the treasure horde had just grown to include a beautiful jeweled necklace he could bestow upon Scarlett to win her affection.
GrandDM, I was waiting on your response before continuing. Are you still around? :)

"Straw, what is it again we're looking for, exactly," Althea asked, turning her attention to the older man as the group approached the outskirts of the ruins. Over the past week, Straw had told them they were looking for a book, but he'd been a little less than forthcoming with much more detail than that. "I mean, do you have any idea where we might find it?"

"Oh, ah, a history codex of great importance," the old man said as he rested a hand on a fallen piece of wall. "It'll probably be in one of the underground chambers."

Great, Althea thought. He's got no idea.

She moved forward to explore the ruins. The archer looked up at a large slab of stone still partly supported by a thick column, then around at the surrounding ground when something caught her attention. "Zed," she gestured to get the man's attention and then motioned for him to come closer. No need to alarm the old man just yet. The partial print on the ground could not be more than a few days old at most, but a recent rain made it difficult to read. As the armed man came closer she pointed to the track, "None of us have passed this way yet. Does this look like a boot print to you?"

The drow sat very still, examining the new arrivals from his dark, well concealed hiding spot. He was taking note of each traveler and the weapons they carried as well as speculating on what price each might fetch.
