@Crab... see if you can find out what she's interested in. Then ask her about it. No flirting need be involved to just break the ice. :)

Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

Yikes! Doing something fun at least, I hope? ;) Hope ya feel better. No rush on posting.
As Glenn lumbered to his feet and Roan stepped out onto the road, the girl nudged her horse a little farther away from the pair, ensuring she had plenty of room to escape if she needed to.

Her eyes narrowed a bit as she studied Roan for a few moments before answering cautiously, "There was a fellow a couple miles back that way," she jutted her chin toward the right hand fork in the road, "who tried to stop me on the road. Maybe a bandit, maybe not, but I wasn't taking any chances and hightailed it outta there quick. And what do you mean 'amateur mistakes'?" she asked, sounded slightly vexed.
The woman, who looked as if she couldn't be much older than 16 or 17, turned her head sharply toward the noise, hand going toward the knife on her belt almost instinctively. But she seemed to relax, at least slightly, when her blue eyes landed on Roan. She sat back in the saddle and the horse slowed to a walk quickly, seeming glad for the chance for a more relaxed pace. The rider steered the animal to the far side of the road, putting a greater distance between herself and the strangers. "My apologies if I disturbed you," she said, seeming leery. "I'll, ah, let you get back to your nap..."
The woman with an arrow protruding from her chest had sunk down to the ground and was laying on her side, one hand still grasping the shaft of the arrow, while with the other she tried unsuccessfully to support herself. A small sound escaped her lips, perhaps a plea for help, but the words were too quiet and mumbled to hear. Her eyes focused momentarily on the two men in front of her before drooping closed.

Meanwhile, Straw made his way cautiously forward, sword in hand should it prove necessary, and around the bend in the road just in time to see the bandits fleeing into the woods. His eyes surveyed the scene, taking in the two dead men along the side of the road, as well as the woman that may very well join them soon.
For a moment, Glenn stood still, just listening to the horse approaching. He was not used to hiding from anyone, but as Roan moved into the nearby foliage, the bulky man followed suite, assuming Roan had good reason to do so. He crouched down awkwardly a few moments before a small, but stocky sorrel horse trotted into view, turning down the same path Roan and Glenn had started down. Both horse and rider, a blonde woman clad in dirty trousers with a long dagger hung on her belt, were sweaty. She glanced over her shoulder, as if checking to see if anyone was following, then continued past the two hidden figures, seeming unaware of their presence.
Glenn didn't seem to notice Roan's foul mood. He was too busy enjoying the walk in the beautiful weather, occasionally pointing out some novelty such as a funny shaped cloud or an animal that startled at their presence.

"Alright," Glenn replied, following Roan. "Hey, Roan, you think the 4 silver pennies'll be 'nough to buy a better map?" he pondered, worried suddenly that their adventure might be stalled by lack of funds.

The pair hadn't gone more than a few steps along the left path when the rhythmic 'clip-clop' heralded the approach of a rider coming down the path to the right...

"Bruised, but okay," Althea answered, still whispering. She felt a mix of emotion at seeing Zed dumped into the cell with them. Part of her was relieved to see her companion still alive, but an equal part wished he had been able to escape, offering them some small hope that he would be able to rescue them. "Okay as I can be for being stabbed in the back by that greasy boil-brained clotpole," she spat, her initial shock turning to anger at Straw's betrayal. "May the gods grant him a thousand slow and painful deaths."

As the cell door closed, Haelerin took up a place just outside to keep guard over their merchandise. Rhyldaer looked to Laele, deferring to her best judgement, "Do you wish to depart for the city tonight? Or would you prefer to wait until the moon is waning?"
The bandit dropped his weapon as Khoran's kick connected with his sensitive region and he let out a pained groan. The other man lunged forward, attempting to slam himself into Khoran and knock him to the ground. The archer was still backing away from the chaos, trying to recover from the blinding light.

Meanwhile, the leader of the highwaymen barely managed to avoid Hugh's first couple strikes, but he was losing ground quickly, back peddling to keep out of the way of the large warrior's blade and shield, unable to deliver a solid blow in return and fear started to take hold of him as he realized he was outmatched. Wanting to cut their losses before things turned from bad to worse, he cried to his companions, "Flee now! Retreat!"

And the four of them made haste toward the forest and away from the attackers, the archer and the one holding his family jewels much slower than their companions...
Glenn clenched his fist angrily as he stood and watched Peyton and Dax take off and kept watching until they were out of site. "That hurt bad?" he asked Roan when he finally turned back around and saw the bloodied rag being held to the back of his head.

--

The next few hours proved uneventful other than getting the bleeding on Roan's head staunched and wrapped in a bandage, rather skillfully actually, for Glenn had helped Dotta do the same for the farm animals from time to time.

The sun was starting to sink back toward the horizon when the road the pair had been following split at a rather large tree. Glenn pulled out the map and tried to make heads or tails of it. "Which way do you think, Roan?"

(OOC: I think there might be a bike or something in the pic, but ignore that. Was one of the cooler pics I found!)
I liked it. :) Could totally see those two showing up to cause trouble later.

I'm pondering what the next event shall be....
